I hate the long dark evenings. I went out yesterday at 2 pm and we were saying that in the summer it seems like you have most of the day left. During winter 2pm seems more like evening is drawing in.
I won’t wish my life away but I am already looking forward to spring time.

It never used to affect me but nowadays I feel it more and more. On Wednesday, when it was cold and wet here, I felt in despair at another five months of chilly, dank weather. I just couldn’t get warm. We’ve just come back from my son’s in the US, where it was 28C last week, though it’s as cold as us now. The difference there is that even when it’s cold, it’s often dry and sunny and not this bone-chilling damp.

We’re still getting to grips with the CH in our new house and there are cold spots where we don’t want them, but I’m gradually learning how to control things. Biggest problem is the hall, which is north-facing and has a hard floor which is perpetually chilly.

It seems early in the season but I’ve begun wearing thermals on my top half, which has helped, and taking a hot water bottle to bed. Today a new throw arrived for the sofa so that should make things cosier.

I am not a sun worshipper and never have been but this weather makes me wish I could hibernate. My joints hate it more than me so it’s quite depressing no matter how I wrap up the damp chills my bones.

I join you in hoping for inspiration. Have been afraid of the dark all my life.
I refuse to economise on electric light - leave them on all over the house after it’s dark, esp hall and landing, Never do anything difficult after dark. Never make late afternoon appointments. Annoy DH by leaving too many lights on if we go out. Make sure I have plenty to read. Stockpile tomato soup.
Read polar adventures.

Yes I am. I just hate the dark, damp days. Doesn’t really change anything but one thing I like to do is to light lots of candles.
Roll on spring.

I sort of agree with you op.

Are you a going out in all weathers and in the evenings, sort of person.
Or a hankering down type person.
Or both?

Sorry, but I love it! I love drawing the curtains, putting the lights on and hankering down. I love watching bad weather.

The clocks have only just gone back and I already hate the dark cold and often wet nights. Please tell me I am not alone. The winter seems so long and I need some inspiration about how to get through the next 4/5 months. You’d think I should be used to it by now but I am not!
