We all make mistakes, so don't worry about that .

If you look at the tabs at the top (under where it says Gransnet Forums) you will see 'Active Topics' and 'I'm on', amongst others. Active Topics will show you conversations still in progress, although it's not very accurate sometimes. When you've made a few posts, you can look at 'I'm On' to see if you have any replies.

There is an orange box on the top right labelled Inbox. If there is a little bell or something on it, it means you have a message - check it out .

Have fun - just post away and before you know it you'll have friends.

Overall we are a kind and friendly bunch, but with any group of people there will be the odd person who pours the odd cup of vinegar over us, we just ignore them.

You may notice that the protocol on GN is to put a poster's name in bold text. This is how it is done.
Bold An asterisk, at the begining of the name, no spaces.
Italics this symbol at the begiining and end of the text, no spaces.
Strikethrough no spaces. Although some devices don't seem to allow this.

I have added a screen shot my post, before I posted, so that you can see what I wrote to include the different types of text.

You can add images by chooing a file from your device.

People often use acronyms, you will see a tab at the top left hand corner of the page, with a list of them.

Remember to preview first!

The way I demonstrated works for a PC and tablet. I believe it may be different for an ipad.

When I joined many moons ago, it was customary to write a poster's name in bold, when addressing a comment to them.
Many of still do so.

Yes, it's the same on an iPad. Just type an asterix then the name, then another asterix - no spaces.

I think it was strikethrough that was causing problems for some on the ipad, as some of the Goodmorningers will testify. 😉

Claralou I am somewhat new also! I read the posts a lot but seldom post! I love these posters! They are so caring toward their friends. They are also a brave and well-traveled and well-informed group! They share their dilemmas and successes. I have learned so much here. You will love this site like I do!
