Imagine a plate with all the different varieties of biscuits on it. Which would be your first choice and which one would you leave until there was nothing else? My first would be a Nice ( not easy to find these days) and I would leave the chocolate bourbon on the plate.

Cow biscuits are Malted Milk biscuits and l have always been partial to them as they come with happy memories. When we went to stay with our grandparents, the adults would have their morning cup of tea while we children snuggled up to our grandparents and were given a cup of milk and two Malted Milk biscuits.

Border biscuits dark chocolate gingers or ordinary digestives. I’m not keen on any wafers, pink or otherwise or bourbons. I used to like nice biscuits, but the ones you get today are claggy rather than crisp.

Abernathy. So hard to get them.

Chocolate ginger first and no interest in pink wafer and equally bourbon.

I can't see the point of the Nice biscuits or the Bourbon.

Chocolate digestive first, chip cookie would stay there.

Gwenisgreat Sat 11-Nov-23 16:55:27

Chocolate first, wafers left on the plate!

hollysteers Sat 11-Nov-23 16:58:23

Chocolate digestive for me. Rich tea biscuits left.
(I keep a packet of tea biscuits for visitors, knowing I will have a biscuit for them and I will never touch them😁)

joannapiano I love the Tesco lemon shortie, I actually wish it was even more lemony. I tried the blood orange/dark choc ones, was very disappointed, thought they had very little flavour. My fortnightly Tesco delivery arrives tomorrow, I’ve ordered the clementine shortie, it’s the first time I’ve seen it online, so fingers crossed it’s as nice as the lemon.

Would have dark chocolate digestives and malted milk,a big no to bourbons.

Tempest

My father worked for McVities so as children we were spoilt for choice but for me:
First off the plate would be plain rich tea biscuits. (Also loved dunking them in tea)
Left on the plate would be any jam biscuits.
Must admit as an adult I never buy packets of biscuits never have them in my home. Thinking about it, interestingly, my son never has them in his home which means my grandchildren never have them. I wonder who buys packets of biscuits now? We do buy brownies and large cake like cookies. Just not old fashioned packets of biscuits.

What’s old fashioned about a packet of biscuits? I’m bemused🤔

Years ago I used to be obsessed with Duchy Organic Chocolate Coconut biscuits. They were amazing, if expensive but sadly were discontinued.

Now, I'd go for shortbread and chocolate biscuits but definitely pass on the pink wafers.

Oh, and M&S salted caramel chocolate florentines for a treat.

Lotus (wish I hadn't been re-introduced to them recently), good quality shortbread (all butter obviously, not good for me but delicious), plus ginger ones. I can easily leave pink wafers, all the ones the grandchildren like, party rings, dodgers Jaffa cakes etc, thank goodness, as they are the only ones I always have in the house. I'm ok if the packet isn't opened, but no self discipline once they are. I must seem a very generous host if someone comes... 'please DO have some more....' 🤣

I bought some Lu biscuits for a competition they were running, and I have to say that they are fabulously tasty.

My second choice will always be a milk chocolate digestive.

karmalady Sat 11-Nov-23 17:50:32

anyone remember the loose broken biscuits from the 50s?

Kim19 Sat 11-Nov-23 17:51:05

Not a big biscuit fan but strength wilts at the sight of cafe noir or border dark ginger. Yikes......

Anneeba Sat 11-Nov-23 18:25:50

Yes, Border are scrumptious.

Barleysugar Sat 11-Nov-23 19:28:54

Tesco and Poundland sell Nice biscuits.

Rich tea. Because I like to dunk. Inspite of what Peter Kay says, they are the best biscuit for it. ☺

Celieanne86 Sat 11-Nov-23 19:42:05

I remember buying loose broken biscuits from the market after the war then mixed biscuits 2/6 d a pound hoping there would be some chocolate ones in when we bought them.
Now I always have packets of biscuits in the ‘secret’ cupboard for the grandchildren or any visitors usually jammie dodgers or chocolate digestive but my fav if I had to choose would be Custard creams yummy and you can keep your bourbon thank you.

Warbler Sun 12-Nov-23 02:43:47

Borders Lemon biscuits dipped in my coffee, followed by a Jammie Dodger.....and left on the plate would be anything with cinnamon or ginger in it.

Shirleyw Sun 12-Nov-23 04:26:55

Mcvities digestives I’d take but leave the bourbons.
