Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley at the moment .
My usual routine of going to Bicester , having a coffee with a cake or savoury before doing any shopping .
Mind you it has been a little chilly just lately and with rain has seen people I know low in numbers .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Bahrain.
Interesting day yesterday at the souk, DD haggling over a gold bracelet. Haggling is beyond me. After that, a crazy time with taxi driver who had no idea where he was going (Avenue shopping mall, v smart). DD directing him as she knows the area. Nice Thai meal in evening next to pond full of carp.
Pool day.
Hope you enjoy your day Mick and thoughts to all with worries 🌹

Good morning from a dry Torbay with showers expected.

After an hour in the dentist’s chair for a crown preparation yesterday,, I collected a wreath from The British Legion HQ. olddudders accompanied me to place it on the war memorial in the grounds of The Little Theatre.

Afterwards we drive to Cockington where we were married just over eight years ago and were made welcome at The Drum, a Lutyens pub where we had our reception.

DH has recovered from Covid but still tires easily so was in bed just after 9.30 pm and is still sleeping now. Thank you for the words of encouragement over the past week. Much appreciated.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the holiday, hollysteers, but I’m with you over haggling!
Wishing everyone a good day. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

It is going to be cold and wet today in s somerset with some hail later, time to actually start wearing wool

I can see another pottering day today, they are quiet as in no voices but still, I quite like them and I go with the flow. I don`t think ahead more than an hour so I chop and change what I do according to what I want to do and mealtimes are very consistent

Have a good day

Good morning from Bristol. I spent the night at DD’s as I had no loo. The plumber could have put one in, but it was difficult and wasted a lot of time. This loo-less business is very tiresome. How on earth did people manage before sewerage systems? I’m full of admiration for the inventiveness and foresight of the engineers.
I did a lot of walking yesterday, from here to there, there from CtoD, etc. I was very tired, but didn’t have a long night.
The bathroom is going well, the electrician is getting on with the job, before more pipes and floors etc., are put in.
I have to get home, then I’ve got a Tai-chi class. My Spanish homework needs doing for tomorrow; I have been busy/tired/out and haven’t done it yet.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning all, it’s 7 and light rain here in S E Essex.

I am off to Chelmsford today, with DH as bag carrier. Hopefully get a lot of Christmas presents along with wrapping paper, trimmings and cards.

Back in time for picking up the 8 yr old for his sleepover (he has requested steak and chips for dinner so that’s what we are having)

Pleased OD is getting back to normal Ashcombe

Your bathroom will be finished soon grandMattie

Urmstongran enjoy your happy place 😘

Hopefully you have slept well, and are feeling ok’ish MaryDoll

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from the South Downs, where it continues to be wet and windy.

gm potty’s under the bed - I always used one when staying with my Cornish aunt whose only loo was out in the wood shed across the yard. We then emptied and washed it out with the water that was used for washing in the morning and poured into a “slop” bucket which was then carried out to be emptied down the loo which itself had no flushing system- just a bucket of water which was filled from the well.

Failing that I believe people threw the potty contents out of the window😄

ash our local park is being spruced up for Remembrance Sunday, where the local boys brigade lead a March of all the dignitaries to the remembrance garden for a Christian service.

So much has happened since my last “good morning” but the best is that my sister has “no discernible cancer spread”, although her head looks like it’s been put together by Frankenstein at the moment! But the staples are coming out today, so that will be a definite improvement.

Nothing planned apart from the usual walks in the rain, and daily routine today, which I enjoy. Hoping to see some photos posted by son who is in South America - darkest Peru- perhaps he will bump into Paddington🙂

Peace and harmony to all

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday turned out to be a relaxing day looking after H as he just wanted to cuddle. The school Remembrance service led by the year six pupils was quite emotional but lovely.

Today is an at home day catching up with household jobs this morning and reading this afternoon.

Such good news about your sister Whitewave.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning from a damp hilltop on the edge of the Cotswolds. I’ve not slept well, I had a headache yesterday and it’s still making its presence felt 🙄 Very exasperating.
Yesterday was uneventful, I had my manicure and popped into the post office to send a couple of packages and pay the paper bill.
It stayed largely dry which was nice.
Today a long dog walk then perhaps some watercolour painting.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Pittcity Thu 09-Nov-23 07:10:24

Good morning from a dark, damp Colchester. It's forecast to brighten up with a high of 11°.
A successful shopping trip yesterday with all trains on time and a lot of sitting with a cuppa and chatting.
Today I have a bed to change and general housework. I must nip out for a few groceries before awaiting the delivery of a new compost bin.
Love to all 🦩 x

Jaxjacky Thu 09-Nov-23 07:11:04

Morning from a damp S Hants. That’s good news Whitewave relief all round and I’m glad oldudders is improving Ashcombe.
Yesterday was M&S collection, Farm Shop and boiler service, today washing, a longer walk and playing hunt the jumper’s, I have two that aren’t where they should be.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning from a dark and dismal Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Lovely lunch out with my friend yesterday, with £12 off each of our bill so that was a bonus. Then back to her house for coffee and more chat.

Walking for Health walk this morning where I think it will be fairly muddy underfoot.

Tonight we are going to see Paul Young on his Through the Lens Tour. We were given the tickets as someone MrJ knows couldn't make it. They wouldn't take any money for them.

Such good news about your sister Whitewave hope she continues to improve.

Wishing you all the best day possible

fancythat Thu 09-Nov-23 07:14:18

A little windy here today, down South.
Rain is forecast I think. Well it was when I looked at the forecast yesterday.

I am a bit spoilt for choice as to what to do today. May go out. May stay in. Whatever.

Good news Whitewavemark2

Pretty is an understatement hollysteers

EkwaNimitee Thu 09-Nov-23 07:30:38

Good morning Mick and everyone from showery Carlisle. That is what is forecast all day so it will be indoors for me.
I saw the practice nurse yesterday and got prescribed antibiotics yet again. I detest having to take them as they kill off the good guys in the gut as well. However, now I am an aged person, my system doesn't clear off infections on its own it seems. I had to go into town after lunch to pick up the pills but I had other little errands to run as well including dropping off a bag full of books at the Oxfam book store. I've emptied a bookcase now so I will now get rid of an old one of those too. I really don't know why one person needs rooms full of 'stuff' to support their lifestyle.

I've been up radically early for me, out of bed at 5am as I had a conference call to Australia where it was the end of the working day for them. I'd forgotten the central heating wouldn't have come on though fortunately the house retains heat well.
The rest of the day will be spent pootling about at this and that as the fancy takes me, there are plenty of little jobs that need doing.
I hope the toilet's soon sorted grandMattie, a rather vital bit of the household! I can remember my grandparents' privy in the garden and, being a gardener, have sometimes wished I had one.
Good news for your sister WWW, I hope she progresses well.

I'll wish you all the best possible day, I think I'm needing a second breakfast and definitely more caffeine!

glammagran Thu 09-Nov-23 07:30:59

Good morning all.

I’m sure many of you have read about and seen the photos of the terrible time experienced by everyone on the Spirit of Discovery. It even made Fox News in the US. It was complete insanity to take us into a severe storm in the Bay of Biscay. An action group has been formed as first and foremost we do not want anything like this to ever happen to another cruise. My DH and myself escaped injury but so many others were less fortunate. The imperative seems to have been to get the ship back to Portsmouth at whatever cost. The bland responses from Saga in the press are a disgrace about a few minor injuries, a few more serious injuries and unpredictable weather. There are so many inaccuracies in the media reports. People in the action group have said they have broken minor bones but did not want to go the completely overwhelmed infirmary. We could all see 2 days beforehand where we were heading just by looking at weather radar maps for the Bay of Biscay. We could have stayed in Gran Canaria to avoid the storm. We had 2 days of sheer terror confined to our cabins. The staff were magnificent in such trying conditions. People were reeling around like drunks when we disembarked after a week of really rough seas. We are really traumatised. When I spoke with family members by phone today I started shaking and shivering violently just talking about it.

I haven’t read much on Gransnet lately but wanted to say my thoughts are with Gingster and Baubles. I’m so pleased Urms and her DH are in their happy place this week.

WWM not WWW!

monk08 Thu 09-Nov-23 07:35:40

Good morning all from the Black country.
DH has blood tests then an eye test today.
Friends coming later and we shall go to the club.
Good news about your sister Whitewave
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Greyduster Thu 09-Nov-23 07:35:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s brightening a little in South Yorkshire and promises to be a nice day so I am off to the woods with the walking group and will have lunch after with DD. Writer’s group was lively yesterday considering there were only four of us. The librarian said she could “hear that we were enjoying ourselves”hmm!
Hollysteers living in Singapore in the sixties, you were expected to haggle for everything from jewellery to the Sunday joint. I hated it, but DH was very good at it!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Nov-23 07:37:17

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and has been raining. It's cold and the heating is on. NannyJan enjoy the concert. I always liked Paul Young. RosesandLilac I hope your headache disappears soon. Whitewave that's good news about your sister. GrandMattie it won't be long until the bathroom is done. Keep saying, 'this, too, will pass.'
Yesterday I handed in the poa form to the lawyer so I am now in the system. It'll take ages to be completed but I feel a bit more secure. Then I went to buy birthday cards and Christmas cards. I had quite a bundle when we all had to leave the shopping centre because of a fire alarm. I decided to get books for the boys as part of their Christmas and was successful at that. I also got mum a People's Friend annual as she has requested it. After that I went back to the shopping centre but two fire engines appeared so I decided not to hang around. I picked up a book I had ordered at the library. There was a singalong for babies going on and all of the songs I sing to dgs2 were being sung. I had sung them to his big brother and his mum in her turn. Later in the afternoon I visited mum. She has an eye infection but is refusing to let the nurses clean it or give her eye drops. I managed to clean it a little and she said I could put in eye drops. Well, I tried but she was resistant.
Today I'll go to the local garden centre which is closer than town. It has a lovely selection of cards so I'll get them there. That's all I have planned. I might make treacle scones and carry on reading and some knitting. A quiet day ahead. Have a good day all

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Nov-23 07:38:02

NannyJan53 enjoy Paul Young we saw him nearly 38 years ago in London, it was my due date for son No.4.

DH drove, I had my hospital bag in the boot, I danced and sang, brilliant concert.

(DS was two weeks late )

cornergran Thu 09-Nov-23 07:38:07

Morning Mick , morning All. Our corner of Somerset is forecast a showery day.

Cleaning and phone calls sums up yesterday. Not sure of the shape of today. Perhaps a walk in a dry bit. Mr C plans to emulsion a wall, I may delve into a cupboard or two - or may not. smile. We could both do with more energy than seems available.

The upheaval will be worth it grandmattie. Pleased to hear better news about your sister whitewave

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

fancythat Thu 09-Nov-23 07:41:25

When I read out something yesterday to my DH, glammagran he brushed it off.
I have only been on a minor cruise once, and even that was bad enough, through a minor storm. Staff were casual has went through it routinely.
So I could tell it must have been terrifying.

For there to even be minor injuries, let alone the rest, is enough to tell people that what you and others went through was awful.
I too would have expected Saga to deal with what happened, much much better.

Inaccuracies in the media - not surprised. Even very minor stuff like local school happenings used to be riddled with them. So I could only assume that national journalists repeatedly report wrongly.

monk08 Thu 09-Nov-23 07:41:46

glammagran what a terrible experience you had have read some reports didn't realise it was the ship you was on.

Susan56 Thu 09-Nov-23 07:44:41

I had said to DH I thought you were on the Spirit of Discovery glammagran.I am so sorry for what you have been through and the post traumatic stress you are suffering💐
