I think their objective was to sell things. They haven’t induced me to buy anything,

Visgir1 Fri 10-Nov-23 17:42:30

Well they achieved their objective people are talking about it.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 10-Nov-23 17:41:44

If only they would shown the old ones again. Maybe they would have to pay royalties...but hey what a treat for us all

Mr and Mrs Snowman was the best JL ad I remember - before they decided the ads had to have a ‘message’ rather than just being Christmassy.

Joseann Fri 10-Nov-23 17:33:17

The bear and the hare for me. Lovely music.

Shinamae

The best John Lewis ever was the boxer on the trampoline….🥹

The spoof version was funny. Well, not the reality as it transpired!

Louella12 Fri 10-Nov-23 17:11:22

The best was the 2 snowmen! Mr Snowman battling roads and mountains to reach the shop to purchase a warm pair of gloves and hat for Mrs Snowman ⛄️

That was a beauty

Absolutely Annie smile

Anniebach Fri 10-Nov-23 15:24:10

The best John Lewis was Edgar the dragon

I expect I will be proved wrong, but I don't think the furry Venus Fly Trap toys will sell well in Waitrose. My local branch has a large display of them.

J. Lewis advert didn’t really do anything for me. Then nor do any of the others.
Like others have said , bring back the real Christmassy adverts.

Sparklefizz Fri 10-Nov-23 09:17:35

I don't like it.

DanniRae Fri 10-Nov-23 08:58:12

I don't like it shock
Mr R does smile

Show! I thought I’d read through before I posted.
It’s one of our favourite films and we’ve seen the stage show.

Georgesgran Fri 10-Nov-23 02:47:17

It’s not the Rocky Horror Shop Stansgran I think you’re getting mixed up - it’s The Little Shop of Horrors with the plant Seymour calls Audrey 2.

Didn’t like it. Give me Kevin the carrot any day.

I like Kevin the carrot too 🥕

And I like the Amazon advert, yes we do get snow in Wales!

Moonwatcher1904 Fri 10-Nov-23 00:03:18

I didn't think much of it. I like the Aldi and Lidl ones.

It’s a triffid!!

merlotgran Thu 09-Nov-23 22:31:17

Just found it on YouTube.

Are they all on drugs? 🥳

Millie22 Thu 09-Nov-23 20:42:45

My favourite is the Very ad and I also like the Amazon one.

JL and M&S both weird. The venus fly trap in the garden looks like something out of a sci fi film.

Yes where are the Christmassy ads now.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 09-Nov-23 19:04:15

Yes, those were the days!

What happened to the lovely Christmassy ads?

Like this one, GSM?

OK, 1995, but we could still be captivated by the magic of Coca Cola's light bulb festooned train telling us Holidays Are Coming !

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 09-Nov-23 18:35:49

I have only seen the JL advert and that was courtesy of Sky News. What happened to the lovely Christmassy ads? Now they seem to have to send a message of some sort (and not the traditional Christmas one). I remember from my childhood ‘tick-a-tick Timex’ and ‘Tom Thumb cigars in tins of ten’ (ok, they couldn’t be advertised now) - Christmas ads that I still recall over 65 years later. Then some years ago there were the M&S extravaganza ads with Shirley Bassey. Who can say they will remember the ads of today in years to come? Or even that they feel Christmassy? Remember I have only seen the JL ad so far.
