Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in brackley this morning.
Nothing planned for the day , i will be putting together a email for the colonial nurse at the Churchill in Oxford with a update as to changes over the past week .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry NE, thermometer says it is 2 degrees ut the house is cosy. I suspect the heating stayed on all night.
Night before last I did not get to sleep until 4,30 am but was woken at 8am by workmen with diggers preparing the street for fibre optic cables. I was impressed to see them stop work and observe the two minute silence at 11am.
DS and family are going to visit this afternoon, they have finally recovered from covid.
Happy Birthday to olddudders.

Marydoll Sun 12-Nov-23 08:10:01

Good morning all it's -3° here in Glasgow. ❄

Happy birthday OD and glad things are progressing GM

Yesterday was full on, Dollie refused to go home, I couldn't access the parish website to add the weekend bulletin and my SIL, who never appears unless she has a problem, appeared.
She had come to tell me that the neighbouring parish had been left high and dry with no Internet access, so the PP wondered if I could print out their weekend bulletin and bidding prayers for them. I eventually got in to our website it by a circuitous route. My IT knowledge is still imbedded somewhere deep in my brain!😆
I was so harassed, I went to the Vigil Mass wearing two odd boots! At least they were both navy.🤣

Today is Babydoll's christening, I'm so looking forward to having all my family together in the one place. It doesn't happen very often. Lots of DIL's family are coming up from Manchester. They are a lovely lot. I feel I have gained an extended family.
I was supposed to be driving, but DD (the Godmother) has now offered. I'm so relieved, I was dreading driving in the dark on the way home and am feeling a bit ropey. I was up being sick during the night and am quite wheezy this morning. At least I have new anti nausea medication.

I asked my difficult SIL, why she hadn't responded to the Christening invitation. I wasn't invited, she said! She is now coming, thank goodness. DS2 was quite hurt, when he didn't hear from her.

I off to paint my nails and get glammed up, a rare occurrence. We need to leave at 10am to get there for the 11am service.
Have a pleasant Sunday folks and best wishes for all in the sick bay and their carers.

Good morning everyone from a cold and frosty Inverness, there’s no fog up here yet grandmabatty maybe it’s on it’s way
A very Happy Birthday to Olddudders Ash, enjoy the day together 🎉🍷🎂
Nothing interesting planned here today although I’ve lots to keep me busy. DGS might be coming round later to play some of his favourite board games, will see
Hoping Susan and karma both get their cars sorted out ok, it’s always a hassle when it happens.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grammaretto Sun 12-Nov-23 08:18:39

Good morning all from the frozen Scottish Borders. Ice on the ground but sunshine.
I have been invited invited myself to coffee in a 400yr old house in a village nearby. I am being taken there by a woman whose ancestors lived there but she has never seen inside. Hence my brazen request!
The 2nd day of sculpture went very well.

I am glad you now have a working bathroom gMattie. I'm sure the results will be worth the disruption.

Happy birthday to OD Ash enjoy his day. I had a party for my 3/4 century but I think it was assumed I was 80 by some of the guests 😲 because it's not so usual to celebrate. Every year now is a bonus and any excuse for a celebration.

I'm so glad your day went well RosiesMaw

Hoping today goes well for everyone.

Liberty Sun 12-Nov-23 08:23:20

Good morning from a mildly sunny Suffolk where rain is forecast later. I hope those celebrating birthdays or any family get together have a lovely day.

I managed yesterday to plant out most of my tulip bulbs but still have a bag of ‘Purrissima’ those lovely white ones. Several of my terracotta pots broke up as I moved them so I think a trip to our local garden centre is in order to buy a new large one…I fancy a blue one to contrast with the white tulips. This may of course be a replacement activity for the huge pile of ironing which faces me every time I go into one of the spare bedrooms.

Greyduster Sun 12-Nov-23 08:25:55

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cold, very foggy South Yorkshire. It will take its time to clear I think. I had a peculiar call on my landline phone last night purportedly from my son but there was no-one on the other end. I phoned him on my mobile and he said it wasn’t him and was probably a scam call, so it threw me into a bit of a panic and I didn’t sleep well. I have nothing much to do until I cook a late lunch for DD and the menfolk, so I’ll watch the Cenotaph parade later and then potter.
Happy Birthday, Olddudders.
Love the pillar box topper Corner. Aren’t some people clever?
Have the best day you can folks.

BlueSapphire Sun 12-Nov-23 08:37:24

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton, 1°C outside, and showers forecast. I have DGD2 coming this morning so I need to get my skates on.

A busy day yesterday; sorted out my socks and tights drawers, found a pair of yoga socks I thought I had lost,.threw a load of tights out I know I will never wear again, swapped the kitchen and bedroom radios, and then after lunch made 4 dozen sausage rolls, well there are 46 now, as I had to try a couple for quality control purposes.....
Spent a quiet evening watching the Festival of Remembrance, fell asleep in the chair and woke up at 3am!

DGD is with me for the day, DS is at work, and her mum has taken older sister to Nottingham for dance competitions. We will be making Biscoff cupcakes this morning, a new recipe for me, then after a pizza lunch will be going to watch premiership rugby and will meet DD and DSil there. Hope the rain holds off.

Back home for a hotpot dinner, and DD and DSil will take DGD home.. Can't remember what's on tv, but it will be a quiet evening.

Happy birthday oldd!

BlueSapphire Sun 12-Nov-23 08:41:46

Meant to post this picture of my sausage rolls!

EkwaNimitee Sun 12-Nov-23 08:41:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we have sun and a blue sky but also a hard frost, it is currently 2°C.
A blackbird has appeared and haunts the garden, they all clear off at the end of the summer. He has discovered my little tree laden with ripe crabs and has been busy guzzling them.

Yesterday was a day of pottering at little jobs and today will be the same plus continuing with a bit of culling in the office. I have a vast collection of postcards, collected on holidays over the decades. I am going through them and discarding the ones that have become meaningless. It's rather bittersweet because I am recalling the happy holidays DH and I had together. Travelling was our mutual passion.

A very Happy Birthday to Olddudders, 3/4 of a century! No mean achievement.

No ironing on Sunday, Liberty! A blue pot full of white tulips sounds lovely.

Have a great day everyone.

Urmstongran Sun 12-Nov-23 08:55:07

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry and 5°C at present but rain is forecast by late morning.

A red letter day here. We are picking up my stepfather in the car (Himself driving) and the 3 of us are booked in for Sunday lunch at our favourite local pub. I’m so happy sharing this news with you all!

Here’s Matt.

Good morning all from a wet Black country so different to yesterday's sunny day.
We have the family get together for Dgs 8th birthday at DiLs mums house this afternoon his birthday is Tuesday and then its another party for his friends next weekend.
Happy birthday olddudders🎉🍺.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Grandmachrisy47 Sun 12-Nov-23 09:07:07

Good m from a bright, dry but very cold Co Durham.
Quiet day yesterday enlivened by a visit from dd2 an dgd to collect their dogs and report on dgd’s 9th birthday sleepover
Two excitable little dogs were better off here than with half a dozen nine year old girls. The party was a huge success.
Wasn’t last nights festival of remembrance moving?

Happy Birthday, olddudders.
Light at the end of the tunnel, grandMattie.
Hope your car troubles get sorted, Karmalady and Susan56.
Enjoy the Christening, Marydoll.

I shall, as usual on a Sunday, cycle through the Archers then watch the Cenotaph ceremony.
Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Sun 12-Nov-23 09:09:41

Hoping all goes well at the christening Marydoll, have a lovely time with all you family together
Urms so pleased for you all - enjoy your Sunday lunch

GrannySomerset Sun 12-Nov-23 09:11:24

Grey skies seem appropriate to the mood of today as we remember all those killed in war whilst watching fearfully events in Ukraine and Palestine.

Church this morning and this afternoon a special act of remembrance based on the letters home of a local boy killed on the Western front. All in all a rather sombre day.

Gala Sun 12-Nov-23 09:13:37

Good morning from a dull but dry Sefton. No rain - yet.
Took advantage of yesterday's sun & did a last minute garden tidy. Managed to completely fill the green waste bin - last collection this week. Just about managed to get the lid closed.
Busy this morning with a visit to the farm shop. It will take longer than usual as the "lamb man" will be there on his monthly visit. There is always a queue. His meat, reared by him, is excellent & reasonably priced. Then a full English in a canalside cafe just along from the farm & finally a click & collect in our local market town. Also a busy end to the day as we are meeting our DS1 for an early tea in a local restaurant. DDiL & DGD1 may or may not join us. No plans for the middle of the day!
Enjoy your day all those meeting up with friends & family. Thoughts with those of you struggling with life.

Urmstongran Sun 12-Nov-23 09:24:43

Those sausage rolls look very tempting BlueSapphire I could eat a couple right now with my TIB - slightly warmed in the oven first.

grandMattie I think it would be great to see ‘before’ and ‘after’ pics of the extra space made in your flat. It sounds really good!

cornergran Sun 12-Nov-23 09:32:07

Welcome home urms. Have a wonderful lunch.

Georgesgran Sun 12-Nov-23 09:33:10

How lovely Urms. As the DDs say ‘you must be buzzing’.

The weather has made a liar out of me, because it’s dry, bright and sunny now!

Kalu Sun 12-Nov-23 09:37:31

Good morning all from a very from a bitterly cold, frosty but sunny Glasgow.

I must remember to put salt down at the back of the house. Yesterday it was sheer luck I didn’t end up on my derrière or worse when I stepped out the back door to feed the birds.

A quiet settled day today. A full night’s sleep last night works wonders and I feel less zombie like.

Happy birthday OD 🥳, It’s just a number. 🥳
A meaningful day for you Marydoll. Enjoy being with your family.
Thank goodness the lovely man sorted out a temporary loo at least for you GM.

Have the best day possible.

Taichinan Sun 12-Nov-23 09:43:30

Good morning everyone. It's another sunny day and 4° on the Angus coast.
How lovely Urms to have that little bit of normality back - so sweet to savour. Have a perfect time!
Happy Birthday Olddudders, and a joyous family day for Babydoll's christening Marydoll. Like you, I love occasions that pull my widely-spread clan together, it's such a joy. DGD3's 18th last weekend was one such for me.
I thanked Lovely Gardener profusely for the bird table yesterday and he was so delighted at my obvious joy! I told him I was planning to go to the garden centre to get some plants to put in the planter he'd made at the foot of the pole but he said there was no need, he'd already planted daffodil bulbs. What a gem of a man he is!
Today I shall watch the proceedings at The Cenotaph before commencing on more pottering and then settling down to see if Angela Rippon makes it through to another week on Strictly. What energy she has! And of course she dances so beautifully - wow! Just wow!

Taichinan Sun 12-Nov-23 09:46:23

Sorry posted too soon and without checking for typos.
Have a good day everyone and let all of us who have it today appreciate the sun before the next bank upon bank of rain pushes through x

Blossoming Sun 12-Nov-23 09:50:29

Good morning Mick and all from frosty Lancashire, currently 6°C.

I was up early to take delivery of a parcel, the first of our Christmas shopping. Showered in a lovely warm bathroom, meds taken. So different from winter mornings in our first home, with the curtains frozen to the windows and a very quick dash to the bathroom ! We were young and strong then.

No plans for today apart from soup making. I have a new stick blender and will make a big batch of lentil and vegetable in the slow cooker, some for tonight and some for freezing.

Yesterday day was not a good day, I could not shake off a dreadful melancholy. I felt sad and powerless. I’m counting my blessings today, thinking of those less fortunate but rather than feeling helpless I will consider how I may help.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

EkwaNimitee Sun 12-Nov-23 10:25:12

I feel your happiness Urms. Have a lovely time.

grandMattie Sun 12-Nov-23 11:26:18

Wonderful news, Urms. Enjoy the christening Marydoll, there is nothing like being surrounded by those you love!

Sorry no before photos of the hall wall as the space is too small but I can scan the estate agent’s plan. Bathroom is easier, I’ve taken pictures of before, during…. And shall do after as well.
