The return of David Cameron

What a very clever move indeed to bring David Cameron back into the Cabinet. Tories all must be shaking in their boots with a General Election nigh and the shambolic government at present.

David Cameron was respected by a great many people and his return must give a much needed boost to Tory morale. The chap has a backbone.

Choice of words wrong I am afraid .. find me a politician with back bone and I will eat my hat ..

Cameron is just another corrupt traitor. Like much of the government he is a member of and is working for the World Economic Forum, not the UK. The one world government is getting closer all the time.

Interesting to hear Starmer talk about Cameron and the Chinese.

There is a scandal there waiting to blow up.

Sorry I have to disagree Cameron is a coward and will do more harm than good …no matter what ..it’s only going to get worse and IF Labour do win the next election …then we are doomed

Is no one else concerned about the fact that, having been made a lord for that purpose, her can only sit in the House of Lords? Not so easy to hold him to account.

I think the Speakers looking into that aspect of it.

Well, he did get a peerage out of it. Even better life ahead for him and his family.

Your opinion, assuming you don’t actually know him.

Jaxie Wed 15-Nov-23 11:45:39

Humble? He’s an over-privileged posh boy who has no idea what life is like for those at the bottom of society. Smooth-faced smugness personified.

This whole Tory party fiasco surely can't get any worse can it? David Cameron was responsible for the biggest national error of judgement for a generation resulting in our catastrophic exit from EU.
I'm not even going to mention the lobbying scandal!
Anything in the country better than it was 13 years ago and anybody better off apart from people like David Cameron?

As a Labour supporter I think the whole lot of them should go.
My husband is a Conservative voter and even he thinks wheeling on David Cameron is a mistake. Do we really need yet another Eton/Oxford out of touch toff? Having made a complete pig's breakfast of Brexit he needs to buzz off and stay buzzed off. Surely the stranglehold of the public school, Oxbridge educated male should be ended. Do we really think that the same elite who have governed us since the nineteenth century still have all, or even any, of the answers to the present day crises facing so so many of us? A change of government is essential before any more damage is done by the present wrecking crew who seem to have run out of effective policies and ideas.

So who else would you suggest who has the experience and diplomatic skills to deal with what’s happening in the world?

I think whitewavemark2 would only welcome anybody with a red rosette. 🤣

Of course! "

Not sure. Would it wrong to have the choice of someone elected, competent and without so many shadows over him (his relationships and dodgy payments from China and dodgy businesses, for instance).

Blair is a Knight Companion - so that would be sufficient to be going on with I would have thought😄

How about this idea?

Sunak has moved Cameron in, as he intends to step down soon and can then move Cameron in as a caretaker PM until the election?

Cameron did refer to himself as the future PM and not previous PM in an interview hmm

Hope they are fuming, nasty people.

Glorianny Tue 14-Nov-23 12:33:19

Just thought I bet Tony and Cherie are fuming- Cameron a Lord!!!

annodomini Tue 14-Nov-23 12:06:33

Is he also taking his allowance for sitting in the Lords?

Siope Tue 14-Nov-23 11:57:24

Is he getting a ministers salary as well as a very lucrative ex-PMs payment?

He’s not claiming the ex-PM payment whilst he’s a Minister.

toscalily Tue 14-Nov-23 11:38:58

"Richard Holden, the newly-appointed Conservative Party chair, told BBC Breakfast that Lord Cameron had returned "out of a sense of duty" and would bring experience to the role."

Where was his sense of duty when he left Downing Street with such haste after the referendum?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 14-Nov-23 11:25:35

True - just a thought🙂

Glorianny Tue 14-Nov-23 10:59:04

Anyway Cameron's got a nice seat in the Lords. Why would he go back to the Commons?

Glorianny Tue 14-Nov-23 10:57:02

I don't think Cameron would take it on. To lose one election (referendum) might be considered unfortunate to lose two looks like carelessness. to paraphrase Oscar
