If the tweet is genuine (has it been verified?), I think some will feel that 'strutting your stuff' is the wrong message. And fanning the flames between the two demographics is a bad move for the CEO of a charity set up to alleviate the suffering of women affected by endometriosis.

I suspect you might be right tho' about donations drying up - which is a shame. I don't think it's a charity that gets huge donations anyway - in comparison to some of the others.

I didn't object initially- if you've got a skill - you've got a skill regardless of your gender identity. But the focus should be on the job, not your personal political / gender identity battle!

Steph Richards did not come across well this morning on Woman’s Hour. Emma Barnett was excellent in her interview technique and SR could not imo justify her position working for this charity.

Women and women’s Rights are being slowly eradicated and this worries me greatly for the future of today’s young women.

I heard the woman's hour interview and was not impressed. Not a good choice and the charity's founder didn't seem able to explain why Steph was a good candidate.

I listened to this mornings interview on BBC Woman’s Hour. Emma Barnett undertook a great interview, with Steph loosing her temper and refusing to say woman.

I have had a close friend pass away last year after 30 years of excruciating pain and not being believed as a woman about her pain.

The trustees of that charity should be asking themselves some serious questions.

Men can get endometriosis, particularly men on hormone therapy, Prostate Cancer sufferers. It is rare but should not be forgotten.

Oh I am sure they will be the priority.

Did Laura Kirby have to justify her position as CEO of Prostate Cancer UK? Did their donations take a nose dive because a woman and not a man was given that position. Or is it just 'trans' that bothers so many of you?

As I have said I dont play identity politics but I also dont pretend men are women.

I just hope this person was the best for the job and not some kind of political statement. I don’t like the sound of the immature tweets, if indeed they are correct and not one of these press beat ups.

I really don’t think that is the case. I believe it is the watering down of women, the refusal to say women, women’s rights being less important than men’s and trans women’s rights.

Why are ‘some’ transwomen so threatening ?

Our mothers and grandmothers fought for women’s rights and now what they achieved is disappearing in plain sight.

It is a frightening world we live in imo.

I think I have read somewhere that Emma Barnett has endometriosis.
I had endometriosis, I was frequently told it was normal to have severe pain and heavy bleeding; it took years for it to be diagnosed, I had a number of operations and continue to have chronic and severe pain because of this and I am now almost eighty. I wasn't always able to work and at best could only manage part time so it has had financial implications. Infertility wasn't a problem as I had my two chldren in my early twenties. A neighbour's daughter - late twenties - has just been diagnosed after years of pain and it seems there isn't much earlier diagnosis than forty plus years ago.
Perhaps this person's appointment will bring in new funding for research - its much needed

Commiserations to anyone who suffers from endometriosis, because it sounds a truly debilitating condition.

Of course it doesn't follow that a male gynaecologist would be any less sympathetic to women than maybe a female one would be. Slightly side stepping this particular ailment, I did a while ago read about women who had had vaginal mesh inserted, and in great pain as a result but having their concerns dismissed and treated in quite a sexist, misogynistic way by male doctors, suggesting what they were suffering was psychological and not physical. Given the complexity of many gynaecological conditions that will affect only women, the one thing I imagine most women want, is to feel comfortable with their doctor who will empathise and not patronise by treating them as a highly strung hysteric.

I did read that the CEO of a Prostate Cancer charity was a woman, I'm not sure men per se feel as threatened as women do in this current climate, for example would they, men, be described as "people with prostates"? I just don't see indignation coming from men, for numerous reasons, mostly they wouldn't feel threatened by trans men entering what would be a private space, if trans men entered a male sporting event, no doubt they'd be thrashed and possibly they don't feel language is erasing their status as men.

Actually I think men are entitled to certain spaces without women, I know men who would be uncomfortable with a woman in a Male changing room for example. The risk is different but I think it's ok for men to want some boundaries too.

I do think it's quite interesting that the main question seems to be whether a man should be CEO of this charity, is this the beginning of people stopping pretending.

I expect they used the same selection process as Edinburgh Rape Crisis used when they appointed Mridhul Wadwha as their CEO. The role was advertised as being for women only, due to the highly sensitive nature of the traumatised women who used their services but, nevertheless Wadwha applied for and was given the job, irrespective of how that would affect the female victims of rape and sexual violence. When the traumatised women objected to a biological male being in their safe place as triggering, Wadwha famously told them that they were bigoted for wanting a female only space and they would have to reframe their trauma if they wanted to continue getting support for their male inflicted violence. Male supremacy at its finest.
