Good Morning Everyone,
A dark and dry start here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday , I noticed the Christmas lights are being put up in Bicester and Brackley , plus Wetherspoons in Bicester have decorations up also .
Today usual routine to Bicester on the bus , otherwise a quiet day .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
The lunchtime recital was rather heavy going yesterday but a good turn out. Lunch in our crowded arts centre cafe, then I picked up mended specs from the optician. On the spur of the moment, I called on an old friend I hadn’t seen for a while and found him in very poor health. He has decided not to go ahead with a precarious operation and feels his time is limited. I’m glad I called in and will keep in touch.

Mystery play at local theatre tonight and I will make a sketch for a Xmas card.
Very disappointing Mizuna, I’m envious re the Chanel exhibition and a yummy cake grandMattie.
Thoughts to all with worries 🌺

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 16-Nov-23 10:27:32

Grey and damp here. Out to lunch with a friend at midday.
Hope those with worries get relief and medical issues are sorted soon.

Good morning from a very wet West Sussex. I was supposed to be filling my car up with charity donations to distribute to local groups but we have put off until later in the hope of the rain stopping.

Yesterday was glorious and after relieving ourselves of a car load of rotting wood from the allotment (mainly from very old raised beds), we had a lovely walk up to a local windmill. Being on chalk and on a hill the track wasn’t muddy. We then had a takeaway lunch from the local pie shop and went to the current exhibition at the Pallant Art Gallery in Chichester. The artist was John Craxton. I didn’t think I knew him but then I recognised the book covers for Patrick Leigh Fermor’s travel books. Craxton painted mainly on Crete so plenty of colour and sunshine - just right for this time of year 🙂.

I’m so sorry to hear that you may not have your knee operation yet, Mizuna. That is hard to bear.

Grammaretto, your house and garden seem so much a part of you that I can’t picture you anywhere else. Having to be practical and realistic is so hard.

Marydoll, I hope you get some useful support from your GP.

Thoughts with all who are anxious about sick friends and family members.

Mick, I noticed the Christmas trees are going up in Chichester. The colour and sparkle will be welcome through dark December.

PS I did 15,809 steps yesterday 😇

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 6°C and calm. You are sounding much more upbeat Mick.

Yesterday was a quiet day. I made a lovely big pot of lentil and vegetable soup, had some for tea with oatcakes and the rest is in the fridge to be eaten today and tomorrow.

Today I need to go to Morrisons for a few things, it will be a quick in and out hopefully.

Beautiful cake Grandmattie, the bathroom works seem to be going well.

I’m well jel RosiesMaw, our city’s museum is currently closed for a major refurbishment and I’m hoping there will be some good things planned for for the reopening next year.

When I had cancer surgery I had to jump through hoops before they’d go ahead Mizuna. All my various consultants had to agree it could go ahead and the anaesthetist was the final hurdle. I had to stop two of my meds for a couple of days beforehand. I hope your anaesthetist agrees to go ahead, so frustrating for you.

Hope all poorlies are on the mend soon. Have a good day and stay safe if you’re out and about 🌹

Good morning from a dry for once Eden. The farmers have been on the go since before 6 and unfortunately, I fell asleep again after a cup of coffee.
It will be a catch-up all day. After the new coal man arrives.
Enjoy your days out all who are having the luxury of a coach trip and birthdays in London,I think I have forgotten what it is like to live in a big city.flowers

Grammaretto 💐

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is damp and dreich today but supposedly no rain until early evening.

Something that was once a necessary evil for me is now the chance of an outing, a visit to Waitrose, timed to have a coffee catch up with my cousin who lives nearby. How times have changed for both of us growing up closely since childhood.
The rest of the day, indoors again foutering about playing at houses.

Look after yourself Grandmabatty. Hopefully not covid.
I think your head is possibly telling you to stay cosily at home on such a miserable day Greyduster? Do what you feel like doing.
Enjoy your own coffee catch up today Georgesgran

Since I started this post, the clouds are now dispersing to allow some sunshine to break through.

Best wishes to all for a smooth, pleasant day.

Mizuna Thu 16-Nov-23 09:34:20

Ha ha, thank you Grammaretto. 🤸‍♀️

Grammaretto Thu 16-Nov-23 09:30:18

I hope the anaesthetist can wave a magic wand or 2 for you Mizuna 🪄 🪄

What a blow. You shall go to the ball have your operation.

Mizuna Thu 16-Nov-23 09:26:33

'Mizuna you must feel very let down.'

Thanks Marydoll, I feel battered by the sudden news. But maybe my anaesthetist will be prepared to allow the operation (pigs flying past my window 😁). More waiting and seeing...

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It looks a bit grey outside. More heavy rain yesterday but the road to town was open….not that I went out!
Off to meet a friend for coffee then back to do some tidying up and some admin.
Wishing you all a good day.

GrannySomerset Thu 16-Nov-23 09:12:00

Grey and still though yet more rain in the forecast. Going C shopping with my neighbours, partly to keep an eye on J whose Alzheimer’s is making her increasingly unpredictable so having two minders will help.

Yesterday’s workshop and performance went pretty well with Wells Cathedral full. Singing in such a big group was a great experience and well worthwhile.

luluaugust Thu 16-Nov-23 09:11:49

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Sorry haven't had time to read all the posts, will do so later. Off to art and chat. Will be packing this afternoon to go and stay with my brother for a few days at the weekend.
Best wishes to all

Urmstongran Thu 16-Nov-23 08:47:00

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry here. It was planned to be a ‘date night’ Thursday but we will see how the day goes.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a grey day here at DD's in East Northants.
Had a good evening at wine club, tasting a variety of red wines from around the world. The hostess provided a delicious spread to go with it.
DD will take me home later this morning, then I have my dance classes and a Sainsburys delivery this afternoon.
Have a lovely time at the Chanel exhibition Maw; no tickets left when I looked.
Have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Thu 16-Nov-23 08:40:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still raining or at least soggy. Foggy as well. ☹️
I gave up on my washing and brought it back inside for a spin-dry.

I had agents to value my house yesterday which was rather emotional. One was brutally honest and told me to hire an industrial skip, while the other noticed wet patches and suggested Phil and Kirsty!

I had lunch with a df on the first anniversary of her DH death. We were sad together.

Yoga this morning and U3A this afternoon while I leave my nice helper to clean my kitchen and cook us a Chinese meal for tonight.

Poor RoseandLilac I hope today is better and Susan sending hugs

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Thu 16-Nov-23 08:40:10

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow.

I'm not feeling too well after a poor night. I missed a called yesterday from my GP, to check up on me. Hopefully she will call back today, I could do with a chat.

Susan, I hope your DH and MIL feel better soon and Mizunza you must feel very let down. 💐

Have a good day folks and for those of you meeting friends and family, enjoy.

NannyJan53 Thu 16-Nov-23 08:31:59

Good morning from a Hotel in London near The British Museum., where it is raining after a glorious mild and sunny day yesterday.

Great show, and meal beforehand. Goodness London is so busy and noisy!

Off to find a cafe for breakfast as it is £30 each in Hotel!!

MJ had told them we were here for my recent birthday. There was a card in my room signed by all the staff and little treats! How lovely.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Nov-23 08:31:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and dreich. Not much wind, but grey and damp. GrandMattie a lovely cake. Susan 💐 a difficult time for your family. Mizuna how disappointing for you. Brook you are a busy lady. RosiesMaw enjoy your day.
Yesterday I ended up staying home as I didn't feel great. I had a rotten night's sleep too. Today I'm staying home and 'coorying doon'. I'll test for covid but I'm fairly certain it's just a nasty cold. So tomato soup for lunch, the heating on and a nap is the order of the day. Have a good day all

Taichinan Thu 16-Nov-23 08:27:38

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's a grey day on the Angus coast as the sun rises, but it's forecast to be a not-bad day 🤞.
Before I went out yesterday I was treated to a rare visitor to the bird table - a woodpecker! I hadn't expected that, I must say. There was also a goldfinch the day before. I can see this bird watching becoming an engrossing hobby 😊
I had lunch with my niece yesterday at a little cafe run daily by volunteers from the local church. It really was lovely - home-made soup, sandwiches and bakes. And of course lots of chat with my niece!
Your plasterer will certainly enjoy his birthday cake grandmattie - and even more so the pleasant surprise of it! I'm sure it will make his day.
I think by the sound of it we could all do with a dose of metacalm Whitewave 😉. Sad to hear about your aunt - I do dislike the term 'end of life care' and prefer 'palliative care', though sadly the result is the same. So sad.
It was my cousin's funeral yesterday - too far away for me to attend- and memories of him featured large in the conversation between my niece and I. He passed away so gently - just dozed off in his chair in the evening .......
Enjoy your coach trip Maw - sounds interesting as well as worry-free.
I have now run out of allotted wittering time as I must trot off and get ready for Thursday's tai chi class. Have the best day you can everyone 🌞

ginny Thu 16-Nov-23 08:24:32

Good morning.
We will have a wandering day with our friends . Down to town for coffee and a mooch in the independent shops.’ Maybe a visit to a local garden centre and lots of chat. Eating at home this evening, chicken and butter bean casserole with (requested) rice pud for afters.
Wishing all a good day.

harrigran Thu 16-Nov-23 08:23:05

Good morning from a damp NE.
I have workmen outside the house, all the pavements are up and they are laying fibre optic cables. Almost school run time and the parents are not going to be able to park in the street because of the digger and big wagons.
SIL and I went shopping yesterday but he still gets very tired because of his post covid asthma.
Quiet day today have a delivery at lunchtime and that is it for the day.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Nov-23 08:20:27

Morning all

I was still wide awake at 5am finally got to sleep and just woken up, I guess I will be playing catch up all day and very tired.

Have a good day folks 🦩🙋‍♀️

NanKate Thu 16-Nov-23 08:17:41

Good morning Mick and All from a grey and soon to be wet South Bucks.

Saw the optician yesterday as I had a strange black floater appear in my right eye. He said I was right to seek quick advice in case it was a detached retina. Fortunately all was well but we discussed the need for cataract removal asap. 😏

Georgesgran Thu 16-Nov-23 08:13:47

Good morning from Durham. It’s wet underfoot, but not actually raining.
Got up early to put the garden bin out - too late last night. Just as well I did, as they came at 8.03. The final collection of the year, but lots of leaves still to fall. I’d pay extra to extend the collections.
Despite incubating a cold (it’s not Covid) I’m meeting 2 friends for coffee at a local cafe and I’ll stick up on Day Nurse on the way home.
Later, I’ll walk Little Dog, but that’s about it, other than a bit of ironing and tidying about.
Best wishes to all. X
