Good Morning Everyone,
Dark ,and wet here in brackley at the moment .
Today a busy day , will do my usual bus trip and this afternoon my sister and hubby are coming down from Shropshire and spending the night in the guest room .
Grave maintenance is a key thing plus a little bit socialising locally is the norm .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Saturday 18th November 2023
(42 Posts)Good morning from a dark and very wet Bristol.
Mercifully, it was dry for my trek to my Spanish class. My upstairs neighbour is more than kind and I try very hard not to ask her to take me to my class, especially at the moment, when I’m using her shower and loo so often.
The shower unit is now in, the plumber left at a decent 2 pm. I managed a nap…
I pottered around for the rest of the day, doing nothing much.
I’ve got the carpenter today, to put in shelves and a door. I have to go out later in the morning and may have to leave him to get on with it.
It is the church’s all day/evening big charity fundraiser and I want to go in in the morning. Never been to it, but the aficionados seem to love it. A lady from Spanish is going to the barn dance (can’t spell the Gaelic name).
I hope everyone has a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Cornwall where there's heavy rain. Enjoy your family visiting, Mick. It's the Christmas fundraiser coffee morning at our allotment community cabin today so hopefully the rain will move on although we're actually all-weather stalwarts.
A late call from my daughter who trundled into Liverpool around 11 last night after a very long train journey sustained by pasties, crisps and Twix bars.
Just in case I am facing six more months on crutches I'm planning ahead and working out how I can get out to the more rugged parts of this county and walk on uneven terrain, which I love and have missed. But it's just musings so far; no conclusions arrived at yet!
Good morning from Oxfordshire, not sure what the weather is like at the moment, but my cough woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep.
Most of our original problems with family have been sorted, BinLaw is recovering well from his Chemo and will have results of recent scans this week, hopefully with good news, he is looking more like his old self, let’s hope the hospitals predictions are wrong.
I’m waiting for test results for a lung ‘abnormality’ not sure if that’s what caused my Asthma problem and subsequent cough, but no doubt I will soon be told. Trying not to fret, but it’s difficult.
Thanks for the PM AuntieFlo I appreciated it.
Hope every one has a good day with some sunshine, although I can now hear rain against the window……..
Good morning, typical november here again, lots of rain followed by cloud all day
A mixed occupation day yesterday, I like a mixed day, it is never boring plus I did a chunk of cleaning, bottoming stuff including corners and skirtings, bedroom and en suite, downstairs floors etc. I do like it when I `want` to do those jobs, its different psychology to `must do`
I went up at 9 to read but ended up moving bits around in my `therapy` snug upstairs. The room with a low window and a lovely view with trees and higgeldy old gardens all interlocked. I can see myself retreating to that room for a different ambience, the lighting, the cd/radio the very comfy armchair which is perfect for knitting
My knitting is going very well, a plain raglan sweater this time and I found the jointed light that drapes around my neck, the wool is a dark mossy colour so I need focussed light
Out today, probably local, won`t be venturing far as the roads are horribly muddy and the river walk is dangerously slidey. No point wearing good shoes or boots outside, the big machines have left soil everywhere
Have a good day
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Dark and raining here, so I’ve brought my first cuppa back to bed where it’s cosy.
I did some Christmas shopping while out and about yesterday and have already eaten some of the chocolates.
Today I’ll potter, try something out craft wise and make a few cards.
Hope you all have the best day you can ☔️💐
Good morning all from a showery North Leicestershire.
We are sitting in bed, on our second cup of tea. There is a cat at the bottom of bed and I am relishing the lack of rush.
Enjoy your days everyone.
Up early to a rainy morning in W Kent. Off to Norfolk this morning and then staying with DB for a few days. No dinner with the family yesterday as DD has come down with a streaming cold.
Better get going, best wishes to all
Good morning from a very wet South Downs. All I ever wear is wellingtons for weeks on end. Is it ever going to stop?
I made a big pot of winter minestrone soup yesterday which is a substantial meal in itself. Also a loaf of bread, as the existing loaf has gone stale, so I had to make croutons with the stale bread to go with the soup. I shall make a bread and butter pudding with the rest.
I must make a note to get my flu jab next week. I’ve had covid jab from which I never get any reaction, but flu jab is a different matter, and now the hospital stuff is out if the way and I feel fine I’ll get that done next week. There is flu about I think, but the main flu season is apparently after Christmas.
Nothing planned for today as rain and wind forecast. Might make the Christmas cake, or at least begin it. Soak the fruit. I usually make it on stir-up Sunday but I’ll see. Perhaps I’ll make some of the pastries for Christmas cooking. It always freezes well.
Chicken and bacon pasta for supper.
Peace and harmony to all
Good morning from a dark, damp Colchester.
DGS1 has persuaded DH to take him fishing for a few hours. I'll nip to Aldi for the weekend groceries and then take it easy for the rest of the day.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from a wet and breezy Torbay. It sounds like the weather is similar everywhere.
The rain didn't deter our theatre audience yesterday evening with a a virtually full house for Who Killed Santa Claus? It was well done but long and I came straight home when we had cleared the auditorium. It’s unusual for me to forego the social time in the bar.
I hope the weather improves, especially for those with plans or visitors, like Mick. I’m glad your DD is safely home, Mizuna and hope your coffee morning goes well. Safe travels, luluaugust!
Have a good weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and damp. Mick enjoy your time with your sister and her husband. GrandMattie you, too, enjoy your day. Ceilidh is the word you're after I think! Oops 💐 Whitewave I love minestrone soup and make it periodically. Yum.
Yesterday I looked after dgs2 for a few hours to let dd get her nails done. He and I had a nice time. Then I was very lazy the rest of the day, trying to recover from this bloomin cold. I do feel better than I did. Dd is coughing mightily though and is worried she has a chest infection.
Today will be food shopping and housework. This afternoon I'll visit mum. I haven't been all week because of the cold. I didn't want to pass it on. Then strictly tonight. Have a good day all
Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.
I am meeting my friend who sometimes behaves badly in restaurants today. We haven’t met up for a while due to me going to Australia, then France and finally having covid. She has a new grandson!
OH has a beekeeping social this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone.
Morning from a wet, breezy S Hampshire.
Enjoy your church doings today gMattie and your visitors Mick.
I’m glad your cold is slowly going Grandmabatty it’s been rather persistent.
Lunch out yesterday with a friend, farm shop on the way home where a small Christmas tree just fell into my car!
Newspaper today, a walk, even if it’s wet and probably watch some sport.
Best wishes to the poorlies.
🦩🦩
Good morning all and it’s dreary ! Well, thats November for you.
I have a free day …yippee! No clock watching, no pressing demands on my time , Dh going to watch a footie match with ds1, so I have an empty - what shall I do??? The worlds my oyster ! 😅.
Yesterday hospital visit for DD’s scan went ok. What should have been a half hour visit turned into nearly 2 hours as the nurses couldn’t get the cannula for the dye into her veins. Nothing goes smoothly for my poor girl.😥.
Have a nice time with your visitors Mick
Take care 🍂🍁
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining again.
My lovely new cleaner came yesterday afternoon. Upstairs is sparkling. I spent the afternoon on the phone to the bank on behalf of the charity. I think I have finally sorted an issue that had them telling us they “may withdraw services” .
Today I’m off with a fellow trustee to receive our big cheque from a supermarket community fund. We have to make an appearance at 2 local stores for photos. My very own red carpet moment 🤦♀️or 😂.
Wishing you all a good day.
Good morning Mick and All from a grey South Bucks.
Have a good time with your family Mick.
Enjoy your lack of rush moment Kitty.
I will be dashing around to get everything done in the morning so I can watch the riveting tennis in both the afternoon and evening. 🎾🎾
Off to Liverpool today for DGD1’s 21st celebrations, driven by DDiL, back by train on Monday. Very exciting and doubtless tiring but worth the effort. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Good morning everyone from a dull and grey Inverness, I’m hoping the mist that we’ve made for the last few days doesn’t return again today
Enjoy spending time with your family mick
Good to hear your DD arrived home safely after a long day travelling mizuna lots of snacks always helps!
Nothing special planned for today, I’m hoping it stays dry so I can at least walk around the garden. DH is going out to work soon so I’ll probably have a lazy morning.
Good to see you Oops and pleased to hear things have improved a bit, hope your test results are ok too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow. I have lost my post(sighs of relief all round from you .)
I'm not so good today, so I shall just wish you all a pleasant day. Gingster, prayers for your darling daughter and Oops, fingers crossed for you. It is so unsettling when our clinicians give us news like that. The waiting to see someone is the worst part.
It's my darling Dollie's eighth birthday today. I thought I would share the stunning cake DIL made for her.
Both my DILs are talented bakers. DIL 2 made Babydoll's Christening cake last week.
Have a good day folks.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is damp but mild.
We were short-staffed in the café/shop yesterday due to sickness covid . I have promised to work tomorrow as well.
I feel I'm fending off a cold too.
A nice little dinner party last night. The Chinese helper cooked and talked about life in China. She would like to live in the UK which tells me something.
I hope you'll be able to lose your crutches some day soon Mizuna and your cold Grandmabatty
Enjoy your visitors Mick.
Have a happy weekend everyone.
Morning Mick, morning All. Gloomy and wet sums up our corner of Somerset. If anyone has sun please send some here. The grey is getting me down now.
Enjoyed volunteering yesterday. The afternoon was successful. The rogue wire quickly sorted in Mr C’s hearing aid and dash cam swapped without fuss, maybe this one will behave.
No idea how today will unfold. Need some motivation - for anything really - after another disturbed night. Maybe lunch out will do the trick. A nagging concern that x-ray outcomes from two weeks ago haven’t reached the surgery yet. Hope not lost as I see the GP next week.
Pleased your daughter arrived safely mizuma. Thinking of everyone with personal mountains to climb.
Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire. Good to hear you have family visiting Mick. Food shopping, ironing and fridge cleaning today and if it stops raining, I will go out and stretch my legs.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from a wet dull N.Bucks.
Today we will do the usual local food shop and maybe a coffee down town.
Some cakes to make for tomorrow and then probably some crafting.
Feeling a bit achy this morning, probably overdid things whilst our friends were here.
Wishing all a good day, thoughts with those who are troubled in any way.
Good morning all from a dark and damp Black country.
Have volunteered to help at Dgs birthday party a room full of
8yr old boys I may regret that, still out with friends later so sure the wine will help me recover.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
