Good Morning Everyone,
Dark ,and wet here in brackley at the moment .
Today a busy day , will do my usual bus trip and this afternoon my sister and hubby are coming down from Shropshire and spending the night in the guest room .
Grave maintenance is a key thing plus a little bit socialising locally is the norm .
Take Care,
Mick

A late good morning from Glasgow which is covered in a thick grey mist and torrential rain.

Lamps are on and the scene is set for a coory doon day. DH will enjoy watching F1 and I can do as I please today. Bliss

Everything crossed your scan results are good news Oops
Fabulous cake Marydoll

Hoping a pleasant day is ahead for all.

Taichinan Sat 18-Nov-23 11:27:13

Roses thank you for that timely reminder. I put washing in the machine yesterday because it was a pleasant day without rain (!). It was supposed to be hung out before I went down to the balance clinic .........
Oh well, open windows and drying indoors it is now!

Taichinan Sat 18-Nov-23 11:22:41

Sounds a much more appropriate venue grammaretto! If I remember rightly DS2's birthdays after that involved skating at Santa Claus Land in Aviemore!

RosesandLilac Sat 18-Nov-23 11:22:28

Ab belated good morning from the edge of the Cotswolds, it started off damp and dismal but now the sun’s come out!
DH has taken the dog out, so far I have changed the bed, done 2 loads of washing, tidied out a cupboard, watered all my houseplants, cleaned the bathroom, toilet and kitchen and am about ready for a coffee 😊
Yesterday I went into town and completely overdid the walking 🙄 so I had a bad night with little sleep.Once I’ve finished tidying I will sit down with my crocheting and listen to podcasts I think.
DH will have fish and chips for dinner, I fancy a salad 😋
Hope you all have a lovely weekend 🌹

Grammaretto Sat 18-Nov-23 10:46:56

Taichi what a lovely upbeat post and a rainbow!

I said never again after DS3's 8th birthday party! The boys were chasing eachother on the table. After that we held parties at the trampoline centre.

Hollysteers I hope your friend cheers you up.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 12°C and windy

Yesterday was a quiet day. I bought another Christmas present and did a few chores. I had a disturbed night with a few loo visits so am quite tired today. I may start doing Christmas cards this afternoon, or at least make a list and check I have up to date addresses.

Sounds like a busy day ahead for many of you. I’m slightly envious but I do love hearing about it.

Glad to see you posting Oops and that things are looking brighter.

I like the sound of your therapy snug Karma. We use one of the top floor bedrooms as a sitting room as it has French windows and a beautiful view right across the dock.

Glad to hear you sounding better LadyLFL, hope your friend is on good form today. Perhaps the new GC will have mellowed her!

Beautiful cake Marydoll, sorry you’re not feeling so good.

Glad the FIT test was negative BlueSapphire, one less thing to worry about.

Beautiful photo Taichinan.

Holly November always seems like a grey month to me, hope today is better for you flowers

Have a good day all and stay safe if you’re out and about 🌹

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast. It’s not only the weather that’s dull, it includes me…yesterday I just had an off day, didn’t go to art, missed a recital and the day before didn’t bother going to a play I had tickets for. I sometimes go into a slump and can’t explain it. Just felt tired.
I’m trying not to use too much central heating for one person and that’s a drag.

Anyhoo, today a friend arrives and will stay overnight. I have a quiche and will cook salmon fillets. I’m not looking forward to it, but will probably enjoy it.
Hope your hosting goes well Mick, you are able to plan some activities Mizuna and the work is soon finished grandMattie

Good morning all from a wet and overcast Eden. I woke as usual by the farm opposite getting a delivery at 6.30 it seems to be happening every Saturday it must be cheaper or something.
Two lovely talks with DD's yesterday one of to London to see "A Christmas Carol" and the other to Stratford to see"A Box of Delights." I'll get the reports tomorrow.
Dh came back from a happy sunny day on the fells.
Best wishes to all who are sick or have sick friends and relatives.
Our Health Authority has just failed Health inspections at both major hospitals and the big joke A&E has come out best, They should ask the locals they would give it straight.
Here's to a bit of sunshine.sunshine

Good morning Mick, good morning all from grey but dry and still West Cheshire.
Won’t be joining you with a full English today Monk as the novelty of fresh croissant and pain au chocolat from the bakery around the corner is too much to resist.
I’m glad to hear that your lingering cold is finally easing gBatty, I think a few days of rest would do you the power of good. Not easy looking after so many generations when we’re not getting any younger ourselves.
I wonder if hiring some sort of motorised chair/scooter would help you over rough terrain Mizuna, just until you can diy again. Shame to miss out on that lovely scenery.
What a wonderful rainbow photograph TaiChi, amazing colours.
Our visit to France has been put on hold in favour of Christmas concerts in Anglesey with performing grandchildren. Naughty gran didn’t consider that in the planning. A good thing really as there is so much going on in our new village. Will be able to join Carols on the Green, concert in the village hall and most importantly the arrival of Father Christmas on his sleigh mid December.
Wishing all the busy bees a productive day, all the not so busy a restful day and all those with worries a better day than yesterday.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s damp but mild at 12°C. The cloud cover is keeping us warm. No plans as such but we may go out for coffee and cake at some stage. We are aficionados of a local bakery cafe now. It’s not cheap but the quality and choice of unusual slices of cake or individual ones is amazing. It’s nice just to have a ‘home made’ now and again without a dozen sitting in a tin whispering “eat me”! I don’t bake, as you know.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning Mick and all. What a yucky day. Never mind 50 shades, even two shades of grey would be better than this!
Yesterday's tai chi session with the balance clinic went well, although they were a very quiet bunch. I think the gentle soft movements of seated tai chi all but sent them off to sleep - I could certainly feel myself nodding off! We'll blame it on the weather 😉
I don't know yet what I'm going to do with the blessing of this day. It's bright and snug here in the garden room and the rest of the house seems so gloomy in contrast. There's soup to be made though and a pile of ironing with my name on it. I shall do that and think of Strictly this evening. How I am loving that series!
Mick enjoy the visit from your sister and her husband. Marydoll that's a gorgeous cake for a little 8-year-old!
Talking of which, 'enjoy' the party of 8 year old boys Monk. I still, after all these years (he's 55 this year) remember DS2's 8th birthday party. Because of our own social engagements For various reasons the only date near his birthday on the 22nd we could find free was the afternoon of December 24th. To say the boys were excited was no exaggeration - the only reason they weren't swinging from the chandeliers was that we didn't have any!! Happy memories.
Mizuna I'm so sorry it sounds as if your op may be delayed (I must have missed that post). That's rotten for you. I do admire your fortitude.
Glad all is still moving along smoothly grandmattie - enjoy your church fundraiser today.
Whatever you're doing today, enjoy it - even if it's the ironing pile! The attached photo (which I took a couple of weeks ago) shows there really is a pot of gold at the end of the 🌈

Good morning from a dull, damp & dismal Sefton. Looks like it may be drizzling.
A late start for me after a good & lengthy night's sleep. No plans for today apart from a few hours babysitting DGD1 this evening. Mum & dad are off to a candle lit concert.
Have a good day all.

harrigran Sat 18-Nov-23 09:00:44

Good morning from a grey, rainy NE.
Disturbed night, woken twice by loud bangs and then before 8am by roofers strippjng tiles off a nearby house.
Sister and BIL visiting g this afternoon and then DS and two GDs coming for the afternoon and evening.
Have a good weekend.

BlueSapphire Sat 18-Nov-23 08:56:19

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton,.but mild out, 9°C according to Alexa. I was intending on visiting two local Christmas markets today, but the weather is putting me off. I have ordered another Alexa to go in the kitchen, should be arriving today, so I shall have to work out how to link them.

I have plenty to do indoors; upstairs and downstairs to vacuum and dust removal in the sitting room.

Some good news yesterday; I needed to do the FIT test (bowel cancer screening) this week, and it has come back negative which is a great relief.

Tonight I have company! DS, his partner and my younger DGD (plus dog) are coming down and we shall have a takeaway. They have decided to trust elder DGD with hosting her own 16th birthday party on her own for the first time; just a few friends coming round with food and music. Understandably they are a bit nervous, but DGD is very sensible and trustworthy, so fingers crossed everything will go ok.

What a wonderful cake for Dollie's birthday, Marydoll ! Pity to cut into it!

Hoping all have a good weekend.

baubles Sat 18-Nov-23 08:55:53

Good morning all from grey and drizzly South Lanarkshire.

Enjoy your family visit Mick.

Fab cake Marydoll.

Grandmabatty I hope your cold symptoms improve quickly.

Thinking of you Oops, hope you don’t have to wait too long for your results.

DD is coming over later and we’re going to a little makers’ market in my favourite cafe. Hoping a coffee and a mince pie will kick start my enthusiasm for Christmas shopping.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Liberty Sat 18-Nov-23 08:40:14

Good morning from a very windy and wet Suffolk.

What an amazing birthday cake Marydoll….an 8 year old’s dream I bet.

I was planning to pop into our local town to post an Advent calendar to one set of DGC but probably won’t given our flooded drive. The lanes are likely to be the same so,after our dog walk,I shall spend the day snugly at home and doing little jobs like feeding the Christmas cake with brandy, reading today’s papers…..nothing too taxing!

Hope those with worries about themselves or loved ones find some comfort and all have an easy day.

monk08 Sat 18-Nov-23 08:32:22

Good morning all from a dark and damp Black country.
Have volunteered to help at Dgs birthday party a room full of
8yr old boys I may regret that, still out with friends later so sure the wine will help me recover.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

ginny Sat 18-Nov-23 08:31:38

Good morning from a wet dull N.Bucks.
Today we will do the usual local food shop and maybe a coffee down town.
Some cakes to make for tomorrow and then probably some crafting.
Feeling a bit achy this morning, probably overdid things whilst our friends were here.
Wishing all a good day, thoughts with those who are troubled in any way.

Greyduster Sat 18-Nov-23 08:31:17

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire. Good to hear you have family visiting Mick. Food shopping, ironing and fridge cleaning today and if it stops raining, I will go out and stretch my legs.
Have the best day you can, folks.

cornergran Sat 18-Nov-23 08:30:22

Morning Mick, morning All. Gloomy and wet sums up our corner of Somerset. If anyone has sun please send some here. The grey is getting me down now.

Enjoyed volunteering yesterday. The afternoon was successful. The rogue wire quickly sorted in Mr C’s hearing aid and dash cam swapped without fuss, maybe this one will behave.

No idea how today will unfold. Need some motivation - for anything really - after another disturbed night. Maybe lunch out will do the trick. A nagging concern that x-ray outcomes from two weeks ago haven’t reached the surgery yet. Hope not lost as I see the GP next week.

Pleased your daughter arrived safely mizuma. Thinking of everyone with personal mountains to climb.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Grammaretto Sat 18-Nov-23 08:26:04

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is damp but mild.
We were short-staffed in the café/shop yesterday due to sickness covid . I have promised to work tomorrow as well.shock
I feel I'm fending off a cold too.

A nice little dinner party last night. The Chinese helper cooked and talked about life in China. She would like to live in the UK which tells me something.

I hope you'll be able to lose your crutches some day soon Mizuna and your cold Grandmabatty
Enjoy your visitors Mick.

Have a happy weekend everyone.

Marydoll Sat 18-Nov-23 08:17:27

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow. I have lost my post(sighs of relief all round from you .)

I'm not so good today, so I shall just wish you all a pleasant day. Gingster, prayers for your darling daughter and Oops, fingers crossed for you. It is so unsettling when our clinicians give us news like that. The waiting to see someone is the worst part.

It's my darling Dollie's eighth birthday today. I thought I would share the stunning cake DIL made for her.
Both my DILs are talented bakers. DIL 2 made Babydoll's Christening cake last week.

Have a good day folks.

brook2704 Sat 18-Nov-23 08:06:20

Good morning everyone from a dull and grey Inverness, I’m hoping the mist that we’ve made for the last few days doesn’t return again today
Enjoy spending time with your family mick
Good to hear your DD arrived home safely after a long day travelling mizuna lots of snacks always helps!
Nothing special planned for today, I’m hoping it stays dry so I can at least walk around the garden. DH is going out to work soon so I’ll probably have a lazy morning.
Good to see you Oops and pleased to hear things have improved a bit, hope your test results are ok too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannySomerset Sat 18-Nov-23 08:02:09

Off to Liverpool today for DGD1’s 21st celebrations, driven by DDiL, back by train on Monday. Very exciting and doubtless tiring but worth the effort. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
