Waking up with nonsense words in my head

I have been having strange things happening in my sleep for a couple of years. Most recently I wake up from a deep sleep and my hands and arms are out of the bed and I am pouring something from a jug or feeding coins into a container.

My son’s bedroom is next to ours and he says I am always banging or scraping the wall and it sounds like a wild animal trying to get out 🤣. I often wake up in the morning with the TV clicker, my glasses, books etc knocked on the floor.

I just Googled "waking up with nonsense words in my head" -

Confusional arousals is considered a parasomnia. This type of sleep disorder involves unwanted events or experiences that occur while you are falling asleep, sleeping, or waking up. Episodes tend to occur as you wake from slow-wave or stage N3 sleep. This sleep stage is most common in the first third of the night

I often have to spell long words out in my head for some daft reason.
And I dream endlessly of typing a book upside down.
Our brains are peculiar aren't they.

Oh I'm so glad you started this thread - I too can have a word or tune going round incessantly in my head - I thought it was the beginning of some sort of mental problem! Which it may very well be, but at least I'm not alone 😉

I often wake up with a song going through my head that I haven’t heard for many decades. I have no idea what triggers that.

Me too Sparklefizz and it goes round and round in my head all day …

Me too - usually songs I find really annoying!

I don't wake up with strange words in my head, but I do collect words that are new to me. My favourite at present is afterblismed, the old English word for pregnant. It's a much nicer word, we should bring it back.

Me too.
The recurring ones are 'Hurtigruten' and 'Tai-Shan Schierenberg'.
I always have a song on the brain too, even when I surface during the night.

I often repeat words in my head. 😳

I've had it on odd occasions. Carbonated wool was the last time. I often dream I'm singing or dancing or in my dream and wake up with the tune in my head.

Hi I also do this and think where on earth did that just come from. 🤔

Does this happen to anyone else please?

I wake up most mornings with one or two really strange words in my head. They are actual words I think, just not ones I use or hear. This morning it was anodising peculiarities. Am I going nuts?
Please tell I’m not 🤣
