Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s freezing cold.

I’m on the train now heading slowly south towards Glasgow for our meet up later. There’s a very snowy landscape outside and the car said it was -8 when DH dropped me off at the station
I’ve just been to the coffee bar and got a warm drink for the journey 😀
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a dry (at last!) but frosty Black Country.

Lovely 2 hours meet with a friend yesterday for lunch. Then a walk around the garden centre as she wanted to buy some plants. I bought an item for our family parcel game on Christmas Day. Checked out the Lidl middle isle on the way back, but I think all the best items had already been bought.

Gym this morning, then I may catch the bus to Merry Hill shopping centre for some bits and bobs.

MrJ has his cycling club Christmas lunch, so no cooking tonight, I shall just look for something in the freezer.

Yesterday’s Welsh class went well.DH enjoyed a couple of hours with the grandchildren while DD and I were at class.

Today we have a to do list to work our way through.Nothing very taxing but need to motivate ourselves.

Urms I hope you have recovered from the meeting with your neighbour.So kind of you but you must have felt drained afterwards💐

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Beautiful sunrise, clear skies and -3.
I had lovely meet ups with 2 separate groups of friends yesterday. Afternoon tea followed by meze supper! I wrote cards all morning while waiting for news of my neighbour. She is in hospital 20 miles away, her DH is in a convalescent home in a different town. I’ll try to visit one of them today as I’m going away tomorrow until Sunday.
The Glasgow meetup is going to be fun! Enjoy ladies.
Is there any appetite for a York one in the new year…we last met in 2019 I think.

Good morning and the sun is out, temporarily, in s somerset. Bracing ourselves in this part of the county as heavy rain starts again this evening.

A proper hedonistic day for me yesterday, basically knitting all day and feeling very cosy. I frogged a 2/3 knitted jumper, I became realistic about size and have started again a whole size smaller

It will be more of the same today with some indoor exercising and muscle-building

Good morning all from a frosty Angus coast - what else these days. The sunrise has cast a rosy glow across the sky, and what isn't rosy is blue. Beautiful! But I'm meeting DD in Perth for lunch and the forecast there is for freezing temps, mist and then grey skies. Not that that will matter of course!
Would have loved to do a Gran's meet-up but my deafness now means I can hear no conversation - other than one to one - in a noisy atmosphere. So frustrating, but as disabilities go it's better than most isn't it. The only thing I can hear is a telephone conversation because that is via Bluetooth straight to my ear. Often when I'm with the family I say 'oh just phone me' when I can't make out what's being said. And someone usually does! I'm the source of much hilarity!!
Poor little dgs2, Grandmabatty. It's so sad when little ones have to go through these things. He'll bounce back probably quicker than his grown ups though!
Sorry also to hear about Gingster's DD - I do hope she hears something today

Good morning from a bright but very cold Essex coast.

I am waiting for 10 o'clock to buy a priority ticket to see a band in October next year. I've seen them twice before and am looking forward to seeing them again. DH wouldn't enjoy the concert so I am quite happy to go alone.

We are going to get some photo's printed for DH's rugby team later this morning.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very frosty Carlisle where it is -2°C.
I have postponed plans to go into town so will stay in and get on with my online shopping and admin plus write those Christmas cards which didn't get done yesterday after all. Christmas is looking likely to be over before I get my gifting and posting sorted!
I now have a resident robin and blackbird in the garden so a week ago I put up a container of mealworms thinking they might like them. It was ignored until 2 days ago when I spotted it was empty. I half re-filled it yesterday. Shortly after, a flock of starlings arrived and I swear it only took them about 30 seconds to empty it! So that's that, I'm not keeping starlings fed on a bag of mealworms a day...
The blackbird btw is a real meany who spends a lot of the day sitting on my fence keeping a watch over the garden which he evidently regards as his kingdom. If he spots the robin or wren he chases them off though they can't be competition. The poor robin enjoys the bread but has a hard time trying to eat. The starlings proved too many for blackie, he flew at them furiously, stabbing away with his beak but they were not to be deterred! I had to laugh....

I think that Glasgow meet up sounds as though it will be fun so do give us a report in due course.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and chilly at 4°C. We are enjoying TIB and listening to Boom Radio. The presenters all work from home and are semi retired radio folk. We like the music they play.

I’m meeting a friend late morning for coffee which I’m looking forward to and I hope all the Glasgow grans enjoy their meet up today - it sounds great fun!

Good morning everyone from the south coast where the sun is trying to make an appearance. Went for coffee at a friend’s house yesterday with a few of the allotment gang. Not being able to find gluten free mince pies in the supermarket she presented me with a hot cross bun instead! 😂
U3A meeting this morning with a talk on Cole Porter. Should be interesting. I’ll head to Morrisons afterwards for some gf flour to make my own mince pies at the weekend when DD will begin her usual pre Christmas ‘cook up!’

Good morning all and I’ve already been out and about having a blood test at 7.30. This is for a health check. It will probably open a ‘can of worms’. I’m a ‘head in the sand type! 😳. Not looking for problems! The car was well and truly frosted up and it was 🥶.

I’ll go to Mass soon and then up to town , to get a few more small gifts.

DD’s 45th birthday today. She’s going out with friends so that will do her good 🙏.

Glasgow sounds fun - hope you all have a great time. Cold and bright here, such a relief after so much rain, and I am doing cards whilst enjoying the gentle tick of the grandfather clock, silent for too long and am only just realising how much I missed it.

Singing this afternoon and history society tonight so quite a busy day in an elderly sort of way. Hope everyone has a good day too.

Christmas decs went up yesterday, so I’ve some crates to put back in the loft space, I’ll sort out what will be kept after Christmas. TBH not much will go, it’s just that it’s all so bulky.
Marzipanning one of the Christmas cakes today, I forgot I need to get it all done by Saturday night ready to take to DDs on Sunday.
Card writing and present wrapping today, a traybake for dinner so not too much prep and then throw it into the oven.

Good morning from a freezing cold Eden. It was so cold in the night we were woken by the automatic switch putting the radiators on. It is colder than when we had snow.
I sat in front of the dreaded AGA and wrote Christmas cards yesterday whilst DH ventured out for a walk, the three he writes are sitting on the hall table ready stamped but not written or posted as mine were with a slip and slide as soon as they were finished.
I hope all enjoy their meet-ups and everyone stays good and warm.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast. The gardener said he would come when the frost lifted for a final tidy up, but it looks pretty white out there even though it’s sunny..
I wasn’t in charge on the desk at the music club yesterday and really enjoyed it. Some lovely people. Then had my nails done in town, which I hate, but acrylics mean I don’t pick my fingers, a serious bad habit of mine.
Off to the usual lunchtime recital and then a new garage for oil and filter change. My old faithful has retired but I have a new recommendation.

Good morning everyone from a bright and frosty Northampton, lovely sunshine 🌞 outside, 0\°C.
Late this morning as I slept/dozed until 9am! I must have needed it.

Lunch out today with my oldest friend, who I met when I moved to Northampton in 1972 and started a new teaching job in a local school. She and her husband became god parents to our DC, and we have remained close ever since. We shall exchange Christmas presents and cards, and no doubt have a few ...Neither of us will be driving by the way, the pub is a 5 minutes walk for me, and a 2 minute bus ride for her!

First a trip to the post office next door to the pub where I shall post my cards to Australia and put the rest of my cards in the post box.

Yesterday walked to the paper shop to pay my bill, all settled up to the end of the year now, then got the the bus into town and went to the theatre box office, where I bought gift vouchers for DS and DD and their partners. Another two presents sorted.

Haven't read any posts yet, so will do that now. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Glasgow, misty but milder.

I am gutted I won’t be able to make it to our Glasgow or a nod to Grammarettowho is learning Gaelic, Glaschu meet up today but our lovely GP called to tell me she can make a house call early afternoon to review DH’s meds and general health today. Planning ahead is impossible and I will miss meeting up again with this lovely bunch of Granspals. Have a great day those who can make it.

New gates were installed yesterday but it wasn’t until the chap had left I realised they were upside down! I am pleased with the quality just wish they were right side up, I am annoyed at myself for being so dim! ……another phone call to add to the list today. I should have noticed immediately but my head is too full of more important issues and there is such a lot going on.

Superb blanket GM, DD2 who loves sailing would appreciate such a gift.
