I’m struggling tonight. I get like this now and again. Perhaps I oughtn't post when I feel like this? but then I’d just be missing.
I’ll try and give my head a wobble tomorrow but when I’m scared it’s not easy.

WHello all, sorry you’ve joined the falling gang Corner I’m a bit battered but unbowed!

The hospital didn’t ring until 9pm, the weather was atrocious and it was a horrible journey with so much standing water and spray. Anyway a very grateful BiL,was collected and duly delivered home to his grateful and relieved wife. Consequently we were both tired this morning. MrB went out and did the shopping and we have had a lazy afternoon.

I weighed myself this morning, reluctantly, a quarter of a pound lighter than a year ago, happy with that. Returned my library books and went for a walk, we’ve got quiz later.

Good afternoon kitcheners. After I put dgs1 to bed last night, I lay on the couch watching telly. Half an hour later I had a funny feeling and turned round. There was dgs1 grinning at me over the arm of the couch! He's like a wee ninja! Of course I took him back to bed. This morning he was up long before me and played quietly in his room. He is a a wee star.
After he was picked up by his dad, I tidied up and then visited mum. She wasn't great today. She didn't recognise me at first and was talking nonsense much of the time. I let the nurse know before I left.
Tonight I'll have leftover steak pie and lots of veg. Then a small trifle. Tomorrow will be quiet. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

The damage to that house is terrible.An older man lives there alone.The fire brigade had to get him out and he was in shock,poor man.My DS took him to stay with his sister last night and it looks like it will be a long time before he’s able to return.My youngest DGs is very traumatised the noise was terrible and he wouldn’t sleep upstairs last night.He gets very anxious so I hope he will settle tonight.

A very belated happy New Year to you all, I’m well behind on just about everything! Christmas has completely discombobulated me for some weird reason, I just can’t get the day of the week right in my mind!
The Christmas decorations came down last Friday and the house was tidied up, I hate mess and muddle.
This morning I popped out for the first time in nearly two weeks, to a nearby town to do a few things. The lanes were well flooded in places where I have not seen flooding before. The water was literally cascading out of the fields in waterfalls!

Cornergran and Blossoming, I'm sorry to hear about your falls, no lasting damage I hope. I'm horrified to hear that your friend spent so long in an ambulance, Cornergran, I really hope he is receiving the best of care now.
YiaYia, poor family, what a terrible thing to happen. Thinking of all affected by the storms and flooding.
SueD, Snap! I made a big pot of tomato soup with tins from the store cupboard and bits from the fridge. Half a jar of pickled onions gives it the Heinz flavour but they do tend to resist the blender!
Ladyleftfieldlover, take care driving on the flooded roads. My sister's friend's car was written off last year, driving through a flood damaged her car's electrics.
Brook, I made a quick leftovers dinner last night, the lamb from NYD was reheated thoroughly with some extra red wine, and I mashed all the leftover potatoes and vegetables into patties together with salt ,pepper, garlic and butter and fried them , very tasty.
Neine, my decorations are still up! If I get them boxed up on Epiphany, DS3 will come and put them back in the loft. DH and I don't do the loft ladder anymore...

Well, I'm having a very lazy day, still in my jammies and goonie... I've been reading my Christmas novel, and GN!...not like me, I'm usually up and out to Mass in the mornings.
I'm planning a leisurely bath 🛀 then a tidy up upstairs.

A belated Happy New Year to everyone...old and new visitors. I'm not good at new year hence why not popping in. I think it's a throw back to awful times past and having survived the passing year dreaded what the new one might bring. It's daft because I'm with DOH now and living in our lovely cottage etc but it still lingers. I need to have a serious talk with myself methinks. I am very jealous of all of you who have taken down your decorations...I am itching to but somewhere in the depths of my memory I remember that it was considered bad luck to take them down before the Epiphany so up they stay. Grrr.
Soop.. You will never now how much I cherish the support and love that I've found since tip toeing into your kitchen. Thank you for having such foresight to set up a post that brings such comfort....and joy to so many. ♥️

Llfl...I love little churches.. my favourites are the the tiny chapel of St Simon Stock at Aylesford Priory in Kent and St David's on Caldey Island in West Wales. They are just beautiful in their simplicity.
Urms...I had a very blonde moment and thought you actually had a very well stocked larder and was in total awe at your organisational skills..no matter how I try the Domestic Goddess seems to make very infrequent appearances these days.
Grandmarie...I swapped the Glayva for some fizz and I'll happily snore along with you next time. 🙂
Well in the spirit of getting back to normal I'm off to the gym...its pouring with rain and I'm tempted to stay put but I can't really give up on my resolution to get fit on Jan 3rd...can I?

I’ll be doing the same tomorrow SueD making up some sort of soup with left over veg in the fridge. I’ve also got to go through the cupboards checking for out of date items, trying to use up what I can and getting rid of the rest. There could be a few interesting meals over the next few days! I wish I had a fully stocked fresh larder downstairs just like Urms

It’s a day for accidents blossoming, I tripped over nothing in our sitting room and landed face down. No harm done and fortunately Mr C contained his mirth. Hope you’re more comfortable now anyway. As our GP said to Mr C staying upright is preferred. I must try harder.

Goodness yia, it’s the what might of been with these things that scares me. Think the wind is retreating here now, certainly hope so. Pouring outside again but definitely quieter. Roads awash here too ladylfl, stay safe out there. Watching the programme on the dreadful snow of 1947 it occurred to us both perhaps we should be grateful for rain.

Just popping in the kitchen. Hello.
I drove younger son to Oxford to catch a train back to London. It was very windy and I’m sure my car was being buffeted. I popped into John Lewis and bought some beautiful pearl and silver earrings for my sister’s birthday. There was a lot of surface water on my way home. OH usually goes out on a Tuesday evening but the road to our nearest town is flooded quite badly. There is a diversion, but that is currently flooded too. Oh well.
I hope your bruising is healing Blossoming.

Goodness me, some of you have got some awful weather. It’s been very wet here but nothing particularly disruptive and I managed to not get wet today when I went out, dodging showers. I hope you’re all safe and warm.

GMbatty my GC love having a bath in my house. The little one says it’s his bath, not mine! Last time my dd came over with them she brought their pj’s and slippers so I could bath them and wash their hair while they were here. 🤣
Oh crumbs, Blossoming that sounds dreadful. I hope the bruises heal quickly. Did you know about the Roman Empire craze last year? It was women asking their men how often they thought of the Roman Empire. It turns out to be surprisingly often!! On a related topic, I was given a book about ‘Tales from medieval Britain’ for Christmas and the author has also written an earlier book about the mythology of Britain. I’m so glad you’ll be keeping us company, Kitty.

My cleaner came today and did her usual whirlwind job in the house. It all feels nice and fresh again. She did find a stray bauble, though! I have also been decluttering the fridge and freezer. I made a dinner from some chicken breasts, a variety of wrinkled veg and the end of a bag of chips, all done in the oven. At the same time I made soup for tomorrow from lots of bits of veg in the freezer. It’s mainly tomatoes and peppers but I think calling it Heinz 57 might be more appropriate. We’ll have it with a baguette I found in the freezer and then I’ll have space to restock with healthy food.

I went out to the local garden centre for coffee and picked up a few bits in their sale, some items for feeding the birds and a pretty metalwork display tray for the house. They haven’t been restocked with plants yet and with the Xmas stuff gone, it looked like they’d been burgled!

A wild day here too. 65 mph gusts are just too windy for me.
We ventured out when things calmed a little to collect a package and buy some essentials. Hurried home when the next horizontal rain arrived. Mr C has found a silver lining in the cloud, the torrential rain has washed the mud from the car .

Our determination to be positive no matter what this new year is being tested by news of our friend. At 87 he spent 13.5 hours in an ambulance yesterday, iv antibiotics, a fluid drip and oxygen see him more comfortable while waiting test results, there’s a wonder about both chest infection and uti. Poor man. Not a good start to a new year for him or his worried wife.

It’s been good to reclaim our home from Christmas decorations and our digestions from Christmas food. Jacket potatoes yesterday, a beef casserole from the freezer with many fresh vegetables today. Tomorrow? No idea but it won’t be complicated . A few battery candles are keeping light in the conservatory and our sitting room, it feels calmer somehow.

Time to relax now. Sleep well tonight everyone. TOYA.

We have been to the Panto with DGS & DGD - oh yes we have! Good fun and they have come home with us via the fish and chip shop because we were not expecting to have them. Nearly time for bed. The journey was awful with lots of flood water making us turn around several times. Suffolk is awfully soggy at the moment.

Hi there. Dgs1 has had a bath which he loves at my house. He has a shower at home. He's had a hot chocolate cuddled up beside me on the couch. Then he went to bed and read me his favourite book, There's a shark in the Park. He knows it off by heart. His bed was warm because it has an electric blanket and his jammies were warmed over the radiator for him. He's cuddled down with a soft toy, the night lights are on and he's a happy boy. He's well settled Jaxjacky. Brook I'll go and check on him when I go to bed. There's something very soothing about having a wee one in the house at night. My steak pie was very tasty, thank you Yiayia. TV night and early bed for me.
