Aww what a shame about your DGS grandmadinosaur no wonder he was upset but pleased the dessert helped sort things out. Hope he had a very Happy Birthday
Hoping your DD isn’t too poorly Jax, sounds like you might have just dodged it!

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Dec-23 20:17:38

Evening kitcheners, very windy here and train earlier, no snow 🙁.
We’ve put some more bits away and have decided tomorrow the tree at least must go out as it’s dropping a lot of needles, shame as we usually leave it for longer.
I was going to cook a chicken curry tonight, but MrJ suggested f&c, so out we popped, instant dinner, I did have mushy peas though, they’re healthy!
My daughter tested +ve for covid today, she knows who from, a friend that visited after we left Christmas Day, phew. We hope she only has it mildly, but that’s her NYE curtailed.

Hello Kitchener’s. It’s been a dark rainy day here and currently blowing a gale.
I’m feeling a bit better than the last couple of days and actually ventured out. It was our grandsons 7th birthday and we took presents round at lunchtime before all going out for lunch. The food was a while coming out and mum and dad had to leave to set up for the birthday party in the church hall. The desserts hadn’t arrived for the 2 gc so mummy and day left and we stayed with the children. GS went to the toilet as the parents left. I then went myself and as I came out noticed GS wasn’t back at the table. DH went to look for him and he was trapped in the toilet. Wasn’t locked just a door that was a bit stiff. He ran to me in tears poor wee thing. Luckily dessert soon arrived to distract him.
We are home and settled in now I’m about to have something to eat and a drink of something not sure what yet.

What lovely photos of your Ggc Soop you must be very proud.

brook2704 Sat 30-Dec-23 17:52:03

Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s wild and windy again up here, good job we’re in and settled now for the evening
Ive been into town shopping today, had a good browse around the shops but didn’t buy much, just a couple of tops in the M&S sale.
Hoping all is ok with your DD nannytopsy
Looks like there’s quite a lot of snow about again so take care all if travelling

Urmstongran Sat 30-Dec-23 17:16:05

‘Evening All’.

Gosh the kitchen’s quiet! The wind’s getting up here again. I’m cosy and settled. Just poured myself a glass of Whispering Angel rosé because ‘it’s 5 o’clock’ somewhere’ - here for starters!

Himself has just cooked his own evening meal. Prawns, noodles and sweet chilli sauce. I don’t eat prawns 🤢 so in a bit I’ll eat goats cheese and pesto ravioli with fresh sauce from a tub. My larder is always well stocked as you know - it’s handy to wander in and just choose what I fancy on the day.
🤣

Grandmabatty Sat 30-Dec-23 16:35:34

Good evening Kitcheners. Cornergran I hope you got to rest today. Grannmarie your spa experience with your sisters sounds lovely and relaxed.
I should have been having breakfast with a friend this morning, but we decided to cancel. I went to Tesco instead and stocked up for the week. I was very glad I had done so, because it snowed heavily not long after I got home. So today I have focused on housework and washing. Quiche and salad for dinner later. Enjoy your evening all

Nannytopsy Sat 30-Dec-23 11:51:44

I hope you got to sleep Corner. I had several hours but with breaks, IYSWIM.
Apparently that’s what people did, before electric lighting. They would eat or find ways to entertain themselves then sleep again

cornergran Fri 29-Dec-23 23:22:40

In spite of a downpour of biblical proportions on both motorways we survived the journey to and from our sons and enjoyed some family time with him, our granddaughters, the Typhoon and his minders. In spite of the age difference the cousins are superb together, I just love to see them. Our son produced an excellent lunch in spite of his preparation plans being wrecked the day before when he unexpectedly hosted five extra teenagers. He didn’t mind, just pleased to see happy young people. He’s much calmer under culinary pressure than his Mum is!

Tired now though. So much driving in a few days is exhausting now, used to take it in our strides. Pair of old crocks that we are.

A couple of quiet days ahead. Well, quiet in that we’ll not need to go out, there will be busyness indoors for sure.

Your table is my dream sued. Sounds wonderful. As soon as the Christmas runner and poinsettia are removed from ours Mr C will have a cloth out and a jigsaw started before I’ve blinked. I wonder if I’d get away with leaving the Christmas stuff there until April. No, thought not grin.

The weather has caused so much upset. What a snowy for some, wet for many and windy winter.

Fibromyalgia can be more than painful neine. I’m sorry it’s found you. I think several of us here live with it, mine was diagnosed over 30 years ago, it’s quiet at the moment but does flare, usually when I least want it to. It’s easier to manage now I can sort of go with it, retirement helps.

Hope your belated celebrations have helped yia, Christmas brings mixed emotions for sure.

Reading your posts has got me thinking granmarie, I’ve never been to a spa, maybe I should try it one day.

You’re often in my thoughts urms. Hope today hasn’t unsettled you both.

Love the photos soop. Cuties all. Hope all goes well for mr soop and your pain subsides as quickly as it came

Best try for sleep. It’s elusive again. No matter, books to read.

Rest well everyone.

Grannmarie Fri 29-Dec-23 21:54:42

Hi, SueD, we had a really relaxing time,
DSis2 ( the bossy little sister) scolded me for snoring 😴 on the heated loungers....
Your table sounds lovely.
Wishing your DD a safe delivery, Nannytopsy, a wee pal for DGS.

Nannytopsy Fri 29-Dec-23 21:00:56

A table runner and hyacinths smacks of Spring SueD. I keep meaning to make a patchwork runner or two but I have baby stuff to knit and a quilt to make. It looks like DD’s baby is large and will arrive early by CS so I must crack on! DD tipped over into gestational diabetes today so watch this space.

SueDonim Fri 29-Dec-23 20:43:46

I’m glad you had a diagnosis, Soop and one that will heal itself, albeit painful at time. flowers The photos of your little pixies are just gorgeous! 😍
Yia I’m sorry Christmas was so distressing for you. I hope the belated celebration is good.
Neine I’m having visions of you fighting for bed space with multiple dogs! grin
Glad your Dh is better, LLFL
GMarie your spa day sounds so relaxing!
I hope you’re bearing up under the current weather, Brook. It seems to change so rapidly, the forecasts don’t seem very accurate.
Urms I hope MrU’s appt went well. I think of you often.

Lots of you seem to have upheavals to your plans, most discombobulating. Our plans changed too. We couldn’t go on a planned outing as the roads were closed, then dd2 decided to go back early and left at lunch time today. We were meant to go to dd1’s for tea today but they’re heaving with cold so I politely declined the offer.

The restoration people came on Weds and took photos and removed the ruined carpets. I’m not entirely sure what the purpose of their visit was but it’s nice to know we’ve not been forgotten! I’ve kind of got used to this world of concrete floors and dehumifiers. 🤔

Today I tidied up, put away Xmas gifts (not many as we’d requested vouchers) and threw out scraps of food that were never going to be eaten now. Also did the linen from ds2’s visit. We unextended the table to its normal size, I’ve laid a new runner on it and a planter of hyacinths that are in bloom and it all looks much fresher.

Now to see what the weather brings us overnight. It’s feeling colder even indoors and now there’s a possibility of snow tomorrow. I hope everyone is snuggled down for the evening and has a quiet night. Xxx

Grannmarie Fri 29-Dec-23 18:52:17

Crossed posts, Jaxjacky! I agree, putting gifts in their rightful places is a job in itself...
Hope the wind behaves itself...it woke me up last night.

Grannmarie Fri 29-Dec-23 18:48:55

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
Four wee smashers, Soop, what happy faces, thanks for sharing. Sounds like MrSoop is being well looked after by his GP.
YiaYia, I'm so glad that you and MrY. are going to have Christmas Day after all, have a great time tomorrow. 🎄
Neine, your beach walk sounds very bracing! Sorry to hear about your fibromyalgia, what a shame. You are very welcome to join us for the next Spa day. Feel free to have a medicinal Glayva and ice anytime!
Hello 👋 brook, I hope you have full power now and normal service has been resumed. 🤞
Grandmabatty, I'm glad your Mum is doing OK, sounds like she is being well cared for.
My tree and decorations are staying up because the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy are coming this weekend for Hogmanay soup and shortbread.
Grannygravy, I am going to join you in fridge gazing... sounds like a new pastime!🤣
Nannytopsy, Snap! I am no stranger to a wee siesta. I put the ironing into a pillow case last week and it hasn't been seen since!
Urms, I hope the time with your DGC lifts your spirits. Hope today was positive for you and Himself. Thinking of you both.
Ladyleftfieldlover, I'm glad your OH is well enough to cook dinner!

I've spent the afternoon tidying up, clearing surfaces, finding homes for everything and recycling all the packaging.... the bin men came today! Now I'm going to make lentil soup...

Wishing you all a peaceful Friday evening, TOYA.

Jaxjacky Fri 29-Dec-23 18:41:46

Hi all, smashing photos soop.
Have the best day tomorrow Yia a cough is annoying but sounds a great improvement on previous events.
I hope your recent fibromyalgia attack subsides neine I understand it can be quite debilitating.
Managed to put most of our gifts in their rightful places today, we had the odd squally shower, that was my excuse for no walk!
We’re on another weather warning for wind tomorrow, it’s incessant at the moment.
Cottage pie and veg tonight, back to normal until Sunday.
Go gently Urms ❤️
I too hope Blossoming is alright.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 29-Dec-23 18:05:11

Hello kitchen people. What beautiful photos Soop!
I’ve had a quiet day today. Just a bit of laundry and some admin.
OH is cooking dinner. He is much better today.
Younger son is having a nap after spending most of the day reading.
I’m sorry you’re feeling sad Urms.

Yiayia4 Fri 29-Dec-23 17:56:27

Thinking of you Blossoming hope your O.K🌹

Urmstongran Fri 29-Dec-23 17:49:34

‘Evening All’.

I’m babysitting but it won’t be a late one. It makes me sad to be honest doing this alone but then I remind myself of how far we have come this year. And count my blessings for that.

Nannytopsy Fri 29-Dec-23 17:05:53

You can tell the two in the second photo are related soop!
Lots of plans for ironing etc but I fell asleep this afternoon. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind! Tomorrow then …

GrannyGravy13 Fri 29-Dec-23 16:53:11

Beautiful photos soop

Iam off to gaze into the fridge and miraculously conjure up a meal, wish me luck.

Thinking of dear Urmstongran and himself 🤞🏻

Naughtyneine Fri 29-Dec-23 16:39:11

Beautiful pictures Soop...the little poppet in the red dress has more than a little look of her Greatgran methinks.

Grandmabatty Fri 29-Dec-23 16:19:13

Lovely photos Soop of lovely ggc. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Me Soop. Yiayia how horrible for you both.
I have visited mum who was ok. Then I have taken down all the Christmas decorations. The house looks streamlined and makes me happy. Steak and chips later for dinner. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

brook2704 Fri 29-Dec-23 16:07:35

Sorry to hear you’ve had such a bad time over Christmas Yia hoping you enjoy the celebrations tomorrow with your DS
Hoping you’re feeling much better soon neine and Henrietta has another outing
Sending ❤️ as always to soop and mr soop , what gorgeous GGC you have ! Thanks for sharing the gorgeous pictures

Naughtyneine Fri 29-Dec-23 15:46:53

Good Afternoon lovely friends. We've just been for a long walk on the beach at Exmouth. The 3 dogs are wet and sandy in the back but happy and quiet. We didn't venture with Henrietta as it's still quite windy ( and I couldn't face it to be truthful).
NannyT...I think I might be fairweather too.
It's gloriously sunny but very fresh!!!!.
After the doctors yesterday it looks as if I have got fibromyalgia... First suggested in Glasgow about 20 years ago but it went away and has only been sporadic until this last year. Apparently trauma and stress can trigger it off again of which there has been plenty. The latest 'joy' is pain in both shoulders across my neck and down the backs of my upper arms making movement very unpleasant. I think I need one of your spa stays GrandMarie!!.complete wth glayva!!!
Jax ... Thank you for letting me know what was wrong with GN. I thought it was just me.
Urms... Thinking of you both today and hoping all has gone well.
Llfl...also hoping OH is feeling better today.
GrannyG13... Maybe leave the ironing till next week and enjoy the rest of the 12 days.
Corner... Really glad the car behaved and to all of you who had to travel in those awful conditions..I'm very pleased to know that everyone is safe and dry. More winds and rain are forecast here tomorrow so I'm glad we've blown the cobwebs away today.
GrandmaB... We've got our winter soft brushed cotton bottom sheet and duvet on...and it's so comfy....in fact so comfy that Ddogs1 and 3 have both tried to get in with DOH and me.
Soop...that sounds a real double buggeration..as if you don't have enough to contend with already. I hope the naproxen helps...and soon ...so you are comfortable for the ' bells'.
Brook...you are brave venturing into the garden... I've walked down to pick up things that have been tossed about in the wind but that's about it.
We've now got tea...and are sitting people watching and watching the sun starting to set...the 'children' are pooped and asleep...it's the simplest things sometimes isn't it....
Enjoy your Friday evening everyone...I hope it's doing all things that make you happy.

Yiayia4 Fri 29-Dec-23 15:40:45

Afternoon Kitcheners.Costocondriatis is very painful Soop, I hope you feel better soon.
We are now negative but still coughing DH more so but, both feeling better.

Christmas 2023 has been a nightmare and at times scary.Christmas day was such a long day I just wanted it to end.DS3 and family came to see us us yesterday and to swap presents, it was so nice to see the GS’s and they just wanted to hug us.Tomorrow myDS1 is doing Christmas Day for us so really looking forward to that.

All good wishes for you both today Erms.

soop Fri 29-Dec-23 15:26:52

Dear Urms and "Himself", Us lot send all good wishes for today's hospital appointment.

Mr Soop returned for check-up concerning his swollen leg and foot. GP is arranging for him to have a scan at Oban hospital. As he has an abdominal aortic aneurysm (surrounded by cancerous lymph nodes) it will be well worth the procedure. At the mo', he is chopping wood. The other morning, he stood on the outside bench and cleaned the windows...in a gale-force wind. Does he ever listen to my reasonable request to relax? The answer is in the negative. hmm

Two delightful images to share with you of our four great grandchildren.

With my love to you all.
