Hello kitchen people. Gosh Soop, I hope Mr Soop gets his scalp sorted asap!
I had a lovely afternoon with the Craft Group at my friend’s house over the road. One of the group had made us all mini Christmas cakes. We decorated them with marzipan, fondant and our take on a fondant Santa. I’m afraid mine looks rather sinister! We all took nibbles, which we had with mulled wine. All my spiced chocolate muffins were eaten, which was good news after my frightening Santa effort!

I changed Mr Soop's scalp dressings after lunch. I was horrified to note that he had two deep craters from which nasty green gloop was oozing. He's about to see the practice nurse at the surgery. I feel that he needs expert advice.

This afternoon, my sisters and I took our friend to Michelle McManus's Winter Wonderland show. She is a local girl who hasn't forgotten her roots, it's now 20 years since she won Pop Idol. We were thoroughly entertained, with opportunities to sing along with festive favourites. The audience was very seasonally dressed, Christmas jumpers, sparkly tops/ dresses and Santa hats, lovely atmosphere. There was a bit of a drama shortly into the show when the fire alarm went off! We made a swift exit and all four of us huddled under my golf umbrella ☔ in the pouring rain till it was safe to return indoors. The show was part of our 80th birthday gift to our friend as we thought she would enjoy an experience/ outing. Her life has changed since her amputation last winter, but she has stayed positive, she has wonderful spirit.

Postprandial hypotension - I also had many falls and it took quite some time to be diagnosed. I still have bruises to show for it - the falls were never in a convenient place .................

Dustyangel something similar happened to Paw after we had driven up from home in . Bucks to Ayrshire for a cousins funeral. We decided to go to a pub for lunch and to kill time before the service.
He stood up after the meal and crashed to the floor, thence blue-lighted into Kilmarnock(I think, maybe Ayr) A&E
I was told it was this
Postprandial hypotension which causes some people to fall, others to faint. It can trigger the chest pain known as angina, disturb vision, or cause nausea. It has even been reported to trigger the mini-strokes known as transient ischemic attacks.
The reason why?
Blood flows normally to the intestine, but the heart rate does not increase adequately and blood vessels do not constrict enough to maintain blood pressure. As a result, blood pressure falls. Postprandial hypotension can cause dizziness, light-headedness, faintness, and falls .
It is alarming but need not be life threatening or indicative of eg a stroke.

The alternative doesn’t bear thinking about. I hope tomorrow brings you all the reassurance you so desperately need.

And SueDonim that’s a shocking drama to come home to. I hope you get dried out and recompensed very soon by the insurance company so that you are warm and dry again well before Christmas.

We’ve enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch out with my stepfather. A drive by Himself (so grateful for that in itself, I do not take any small pleasures for granted any more as I realise how blessed we are to be given these times) to a pub my stepfather and mum used to love at Christmas time. It surpassed all my expectations and my stepfather was delighted to be there once again. He and I enjoyed a full roast dinner. Too much for Himself to manage these days, so he chose from the menu.

Have a restful evening dear kitcheners. Life is so good. We forget sometimes how truly precious it all is, because we get caught up in busy-ness. Especially at this time of year.

I had a lovely time with dgs1. He's such an easy boy to entertain. He was picked up at twelve and I had intended to visit mum but I felt really unwell this afternoon. I think it's the effect of the covid and flu jags. So I fell asleep and feel better for that. I've made lentil soup and steak casserole and both will feed me for days. An early start tomorrow so an early bed tonight. Good evening Kitcheners.

Funny that you should use the term "bursting brain syndrome" because yesterday morning, just before I awoke, I heard a terrific crash. This has occurred on three separate occasions. I called out to Mr Soop to ask if he was okay. He said, you must have been dreaming. There hasn't been a crashing noise. Apparently, the whatever it is, is termed exploding head syndrome. It is common and not a sign of something serious. Hey ho! As you say.

Nannytopsy it’s the first time DH has been trusted to choose the tree himself, I knew there was something wrong when his first words were I know you are not going to be happy

We’ve just dropped DGS back home, he’s been really good although he did have full ownership of the TV remote and a loan of my iPad. Last night we played monopoly which took ages 🤦‍♀️ and ticket to ride a few times. DGDs sleepover party was a great success, the 4 girls got on really well together. DD2 sent me the attached picture of their bedroom, all decorated brilliantly for her party
I remember the Rotary club doing the rounds with the Christmas float ann, in fact I used to take my children out to wait on the pavement and wave when it passed, happy memories

I had a lovely birthday yesterday. We picked up the motor home and then had brunch at the local cafe . The portions are huge so I was able to take back what I left for the dogs. Ddog1 always used to stuff his head in my handbag to see what I had in there. We miss him very much. The other dogs have been very depressed too and Ddog2 was deeply unhappy when I left to go to to Surrey but he was positively smiling when I got back on Friday. Last night we christened the mojo and celebrated my birthday...11 of us seated.... drinking wine and eating nibbles. It was just lovely. As I write we ( DOH...the ex lodger and DOH's work colleague plus 3 dogs) are on our way to Exmouth on our first road trip. Chaos ensued initially and hilarity but all seems calm for now. We are meeting friends for a carvery later so the celebrations continue.

Hello all from another damp day in Stockport.
I feel for you SueD what a homecoming after a lovely time away.
I hope it isn’t going to spoil your Christmas.
I hope Dustyangel has a good day today with her H and family and that he sees his GP very soon.

I was out on another jolly last night, my friend and I had a lovely meal at a very nice Pub/ restaurant, the atmosphere was lovely, very jolly people and lovely decorations.
I emailed the disappointing one from last week but a deafening silence has resulted.
I now feel justified in posting on their website which I had told them I didn’t want to do until I heard from them.

I hope to get my cards posted today… … they have been written since Wednesday.

I am expecting a visit from Father Christmas this evening.
Every year since we have lived here the Local Rotary club has had a float round collecting for Charity.
Sadly this year they have no volunteers, all are ageing, so a local Scout group and their helpers have taken over and it is the turn of our road tonight.

I now have two Christmas trees up, some lights over the fireplace and that is it for this year.
I tell myself I am going for a minimalist look, the truth is I can’t be bothered to do anymore.

Morning all! A very cheery DGS has been singing away to himself for about half an hour and is now laughing in bed with his mum and dad. At 16 months he is learning so much every day. We looked after him yesterday while they were out for a posh lunch with friends. Each couple had grandparents on baby sitting duty!
SueD I am so sorry about the flooding. I hope it can be dried out quickly. Not what you needed.
Dusty I hope your DH is making a full recovery.
Oh dear GG - not sure I would trust DH with an important task like that!
It’s our Carol service this afternoon so we must get going promptly this morning to get back to Suffolk. There is wine to be mulled! It looks as if there is some flooding again up there.

dusty That was a nightmare for you and thank goodness it happened when you were in the restaurant, with friends and very fortunately with the fireman/paramedic.

dusty the irony is that none of the past tenants has bothered to cut a blade of grass unless pushed and then they borrowed the minimum from friends. The door has not been fixed yet, hopefully it is not white PVC and double glazed which would not surprise me!
