Had anybody been on that forum? What a dreadful group, it is full of the most vile right-wing bigots I have ever seen.

vampirequeen Tue 12-Dec-23 11:43:00

No but I may go on there now, just to wind them up and see how long it is before they ban me grin

Grantanow Tue 12-Dec-23 12:36:15

Must be like reading the online reader comments in the Telegraph which I often do for amusement. Colonel Blimp has nothing on some of them.

vampirequeen Tue 12-Dec-23 12:37:32

Oooh I'm going to have so much fun on that site grin

LucyAnna Tue 12-Dec-23 12:44:05

Oh, my - just ventured over there……….and scurried back!!

nanna8 Tue 12-Dec-23 12:55:19

Sounds vile. Good to keep in touch ,though. You don’t want too many surprises come election time !

I suppose you could compare it with the left wing bigots on here. You know, the ones who called you bigoted if you disagree with the left liberal point of view.

henetha Tue 12-Dec-23 13:09:47

I didn't know it existed. I might have a look.....

GrannyGravy13 Tue 12-Dec-23 13:23:48

I have just had a quick look on one of the boards regarding winter fuel allowance, couldn’t see anything remotely resembling vile right wing bigots

Any chance you could be more precise Brahumbug

🤣🤣🤣

Let us know how you get on!
I'd take a look but really must get on and write some Christmas cards ......

Callistemon21 Tue 12-Dec-23 13:34:52

Just taken a very quick glance at a thread called Topic: Tory Plot and it doesn't look particularly right wing or bigoted, there are comments from all sides imo and I'm a fence-sitting ie one of those annoying floating voters who ensures we get a change of Government from time to time.

Without voters like me you'd be stuck in a rut for centuries grin

Perhaps it is you who is biased, Brahumbug

AGAA4 Tue 12-Dec-23 14:25:23

I've just had look. Interesting topics and a mix of views. There are some biased posters but that's true of many forums.

Spinnaker Tue 12-Dec-23 15:40:33

Just had a look - couldn't find anything vile or bigoted

Perhaps politics is like beauty - in the eye of the beholder grin

Blossoming Tue 12-Dec-23 15:47:25

Never heard of it before.

It's not much different to other SM platforms.

A couple of years ago or so I did lurk there awhile and there was one particular poster who had, shall I say, very "strong" views - on quite a few things and did dominate certain threads, so I decided not to join.

I don't think it's as good as GN though. We seem to have a much wider scope and variety of topics and - dare I say this - some much more knowledgeable posters, well-informed and articulate... from both sides of the political divide.

I think GN is on the whole far more civilised than many SM sites.

Elegran Tue 12-Dec-23 16:48:11

The posters seem about the same as the ones on Gransnet. The proportion of grumpy posts are a bit higher. Maybe their moderators don't delete reported posts or ban people as readily as Gransnet ones do, so more grumpy opinions get through? Or maybe the other posters are slower to report things that offend them.

Brahumbug is advertising/promoting Pensioners UK, and knows how to do it without being caught out.

I second that. Gransnet has its share of the uninformed, un-knowledgeable, inarticulate and obsessed, but most exchanges are conducted politely and without personal insults.

Elegran Tue 12-Dec-23 16:56:31

Well, yes, OldFrill I bet quite a few of us popped in to see what the vile bigots were saying. I wonder what percentage stayed?

Galaxy Tue 12-Dec-23 16:58:41

Ha. Its ways lovely to meet a fellow cynic oldfrillgrin

I just looked, too. Didn’t see any bigotry but I didn’t look too far. Bigotry is in the eye of the beholder, perhaps ?

nanna8 Tue 12-Dec-23 22:53:54

Hey, really good marketing ploy. Must remember that one.

maddyone Tue 12-Dec-23 23:12:40

Never heard of it till I read this. Haven’t looked, don’t know where it is.

henetha Tue 12-Dec-23 23:56:53

I had a quick explore and thought it seems interesting . When I'm less busy I'll investigate further. Didn't notice any vile-ness really.
