Good morning everyone from a damp and mild Northampton, 11ยฐ out, and brightening up later, which will be fine, as I need to go into town to collect my new glasses. Received a text yesterday to say they were ready.

Have had younger DGD here overnight and just about to do her a bacon sandwich for breakfast. We enjoyed watching 'Miracle on 34th Street ' together last night; I always watch it at Christmas and end up in tears, it's a lovely film.

Sainsbury's delivery later this morning, then after lunch into town, and maybe home via Sainsbury's and M&S Food ; Sainsbury's have emailed to say they don't have the smoked salmon or bread I wanted.

Not.read the thread yet, so will do that when I have a few minutes later. Have a good day everyone.

Happy birthday ๐Ÿฅณ ๐ŸŽ‚ Rosesandlilac!!

Marydoll Thu 21-Dec-23 08:14:05

Beechnut, thank you for the lovely card, Beechnut.
I donated all my card making stock to Dollie's school last week, my fine motor skills are poor now.
I still haven't made any dent in my stash!

Good morning all from a wet and somewhat windy Glasgow, where it is slightly warmer than yesterday, at 10ยฐC..

Happy birthday, Roses.
I must have missed that about your daughter, Kitty. I hope she is on the mend soon.

Yesterday, we had a surprise visit from SIL, on his way back from a hospital appointment. He still has lung problems, two years after having Covid.
After phoning to see if I needed anything, he brought some shopping. I had to laugh, when he brought two different makes of something I asked for, Just in case.
In the future, I am going to send him, instead of Mr MD, ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have to go to the surgery today, the bonus is that Babydoll lives only ten minutes away, so we will pop in for a short visit. I really miss her, she is developing a lovely personality. Her daddy cried non stop ( he was always unwell), she just smiles all the time.
We were supposed to see her at the weekend, but I was too unwell.
My chest is slightly improved, but the antibiotics are making me so nauseous and I am running out of anti nausea meds again, However, the good news is that I may actually live to see Christmas! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Those of you spending time with family, enjoy! Glad to see you have arrived safely, Ash.
Have a good day folks.

Good morning from wet and windy South Lanarkshire.

DH will take DGD home this morning. Weโ€™ve thoroughly enjoyed her visit, itโ€™s so good to be around young people.

Our friends who moved south are travelling today to the north of Scotland for Christmas. They will break their journey at lunchtime when we will meet up for an hour or so. Iโ€™m looking forward to seeing them, I miss my friend.

Have the best day possible everyone.

I had a lovely Christmas dinner wupith a friend yesterday.the restaurant was incredibly busy but not too noisy and the service was excellent.
Another dinner today, with two of the ladies who come to the lunch club. Before that a coffee and catch up with a fellow trustee.
Overnight I will have 2 lodgers! My neighbour has more family coming so a grandson and his wife are sleeping here. Her DH remains in hospital.

Good morning from the South Downs, where it is breezy rather than windy.

Today is the winter solstice - hoorah - welcome back to the sun๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž, and of course the reason Christmas is celebrated at this time.
There is a huge parade in Brighton where hundreds of childrenโ€™s groups make very creative paper lanterns in all sorts of themes. They walk down to the beach accompanied by pagon type drumming to a bonfire - the last time I went it was an enormous Viking boat - all their lanterns are burned and they watch a big firework display. It is excellent.

Today I am decorating my cake (like others) making sausage rolls (to freeze) , making a salmon pie for a very busy day tomorrow, and having my big Christmas shopping delivery.

Well, must get on - this time next week christmas will be over and we can all relax!

Peace and harmony one and all

Sar53 we like Funchal very much, especially the botanical gardens and the back street art galleries/shops.

Afternoon tea at Reidโ€™s Hotel is rather good ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

NanKate Thu 21-Dec-23 07:52:50

Morning Mick and All from a damp, cold, shortest day in South Bucks.

Off to our lovely new Art Deco cinema to see Wonka. My DS says I will love it. Also trying to finish our Christmas food shopping.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:52:12

Morning all ๐Ÿ‘

I have been awake since 1.27 am, consequently I am tired and grumpy!!

I have to put Christmas bedding on one more bed this morning, then itโ€™s a visit to the local farm shop and finalise the items on my Waitrose delivery. The builders are still here, I can see the end in sight, apart from the patio at the end of the garden which I think will be completed in the new year.

Happy Birthday rosesandlilac

Have a great day folks ๐Ÿคถ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ„

Morning from a breezy but dry S Hants.
Happy Birthday RosesandLilac ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚ enjoy your day.
Yesterday was quiet, apart from the Farm Shop tomorrow no shopping is needed.
I need to drop a card in to my son and family and have a friend calling in for coffee later. In my garden wander yesterday I found some freesia sprouting after two years of nothing.

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. Dark and wild here 9ยฐ.

I did get though to a doctor on the phone who prescribed even more painkillers but also a physio appointment which is early tomorrow.
When I told her I do yoga and ceilidh dancing she didn't think I could be too crippled. if she watched me she might
Possibly some food shopping today and a couple of last minute things.

I will have to call the AA to get my car started. The brake has seized by not being driven enough and I will need it at Christmas when there are no buses.

I'm glad you're well rested Ash you must feel content after such a successful time.
Happy birthday RoseandLilac ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿน
Have the best day you can everyone.

Pittcity Thu 21-Dec-23 07:35:43

Good morning from a dark and windy Colchester.
Not sure what today will bring as DH and DS are still snoring.
I'll change our bedding and sort laundry. I hope to walk into the City to get a few bits that Lidl didn't have yesterday.
DH had planned to go fishing but I expect the wind will put him off.
Love to all ๐Ÿฆฉx

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 21-Dec-23 07:32:10

Morning all from a windy sounding West Oxfordshire.
My auntโ€™s funeral went well yesterday. There was no religion involved at all but several people gave eulogies. My 92 year old uncle talked about when they first met. It was good to catch up with my cousins and some of their children at the reception afterwards.
Today I will be decorating the Christmas cake and the chocolate log I have made for non dried fruit eaters.
OH has to collect a prescription so will pick up a Click and Collect for me from Waitrose. Iโ€™m still waiting for one more present which is being resent.
Have a good day everyone and try not to get blown away!

cornergran Thu 21-Dec-23 07:29:19

Morning Mick, morning All from a horribly windy corner of Somerset.

All tasks completed yesterday we had planned to wander off today. Maybe not unless we can think some somewhere to be we wonโ€™t get blown away. I truly dislike strong winds, always have.

A very happy birthday rosesandlilac ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿพ. Enjoy that cake, sounds wonderful.

An excellent day ahead grandmattie. Sadly our teenagers have moved on from such things. I miss that special, creative, time with them although not so much the clearing up afterwards. smile.

Iโ€™m not surprised a quiet day was needed, ash, that was quite a journey.

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Sar53 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:25:42

Happy Birthday to Rosesandlilac xx

Sar53 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:24:38

Good morning from the Madeiran coast, not far from Funchal.
We took the hotel shuttle bus into Funchal yesterday. It was very busy in the town due to 3 enormous cruise ships docked in the marina.
It was a beautiful, very warm day. It's hard to believe it is the middle of December.
We came back on a local bus round lots of hairpin bends, up and up and up then down and down again to the coast.
We have decided to go back to Funchal tomorrow when no cruise ships are due. We are going to go up into the hills in the cable car.
Today the weather is not so good so maybe a dip in the indoor pool.
Have a lovely day everyone xxx

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:20:23

Extremely windy here in Co Durham.
No school walk today so no plans.
Happy Birthday, RoseandLilac.

kittylester Thu 21-Dec-23 07:19:57

Good morning all from a wet and windy North Leicestershire.

Today I am going to see my friend who has recently finished chemo but is now quite severely depressed. Then I have to collect my meat order.

Have the best day possible everyone.
