Good morning from Cornwall where it's dry, mild and windy. Missed posting yesterday as I woke late and was out the door in a flurry of grabbed bags, coat, crutches and make up (which I applied in a public loo) and came home too late to join in.

Yesterday's library craft group was fun, making tiny Christmas trees from corks and pom poms. Refreshments were served as we 'worked'. They've asked if I'll do an origami demonstration in the New Year so I'd better get practising. After that I bussed to M&S to buy avocados and quickly exited the food hall as it was crazily busy.

Bonnybanko thank you for your suggestion on Tuesday but the sofa I've ordered isn't small - it's a three-seater- just divided into boxes to make access easier.

I'm with my arty daughter-in-law for most of today, chatting each other's ears off, no doubt.

Good morning, it is very windy in s somerset, some huge gusts knocked my cardboard bin over and moved my big bin, luckily I heard it happen and I ran out and moved them.

I was up much too early, the wind is so scarily strong, I was not expecting this. Then something fell down my flue, a narrow piece of metal, no idea what it is for but I will ask my sweep next summer. I think it was stuck on somewhere and if it was very important it would have been bolted on. Oh my goodness the gusts are awful, that on top of a very dark day,not nice

So sewing it is when I need to occupy my mind. A bit is left to finish on some joggers that I am making on request from a dd. Then tidying in several areas as I am in the habit of putting things down

My organic delivery is arriving soon, I am very glad indeed that I crossed so much off and only bought basics, with some clematines as a treat. I will make my kefir as soon as the milk arrives and then the day is all mine

Have a good day

Good morning from a dry, mild Bristol.
Yippee, I can get to and from my front door, without having to negotiate the barriers left by National Grid. The ditch was filled in, but the mess was still there and the lawn not made good. It looks brilliant, if a little muddy!
The residentsโ€™ coffee morning went well though not many attended.
I was lunching when the lady storing my empty jars brought them back - I had completely forgotten she was coming!
I have started to empty a few boxes. My problem now is to remember where everything is. I have moved stuff from A to B to Cโ€ฆ so often that I only remember the last place it was stored.
The girls are coming this morning to decorate their gingerbread house, make thin card crowns, etc. this is the first time they are spending more than a few minutes here. Iโ€™m really looking forward to their visit.
May today lift your spirits, bring happiness to your hearts and love all around. Carpe diem ๐Ÿฆฉ๐Ÿฆฉ๐Ÿฆฉ๐Ÿฆฉ

Good morning from a fine but breezy part of La Sarthe.

Yesterday, we both appreciated the opportunity to take things easy at home to recover from two hectic days of travelling after a month of busy times for me at the theatre. A peaceful night's sleep ensued, setting us up for today when a food shop is planned, involving Lidl and Super U in Bonnetable, a nearby town.

How disappointing about your daughter having Covid, kittylester. Perhaps a delayed celebration might be possible.
A clever name: Gluttons for Nourishment, NannyJan53!
A heartwarming description of your family's visit, Kalu.
I hope you got your GP appointment yesterday, Grammaretto and some relief from pain.
A disappointment on two fronts, Susan56 but hope your DH soon recovers.
How lovely that your DGS2 has a good sense of humour, Grandmabatty!

Stay safe if youโ€™re in windy areas, everyone! ๐Ÿฆฉ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฆฉ

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very windy, wet South Yorkshire where it is bending the trees double! That means my outing with the walking group is off the cards. When there is a yellow weather warning for high winds, they cancel. Sensible, as we walk through local woodlands. If it calms down I will drive over and see DD.
Mizuna I bought some origami papers last week - must get on and do something with them.
Have the best day you can folks.

RosesandLilac Thu 21-Dec-23 07:10:30

Good morning everyone from a windy hillside in south Gloucestershire, at least it is dry!
Itโ€™s my birthday today so I have a beautiful birthday cake I bought to enjoy- we have a very talented cake maker in the village- and I am having tea with some friends this afternoon.
A dog walk somewhere this morning I think, maybe ending with coffee somewhere?
Have a lovely day everyone ๐ŸŒน

Good morning from the NE where we have gale force winds again. I have come downstairs into the kitchen because the full force of the wind is on my bedroom window and it is creaking.
Shopping yesterday was horrible, we did a self scan but there were very long queues at the till.
After the shopping we went for a late lunch which was very much comfort food, goat's cheese risotto and Toulouse sausage and mash. We decided against wine and had our coffee back at home.
In the evening we opened a bottle of Champagne which was at least twenty years old and had been lurking in the back of the cellar, I thought we would be just pouring it down the sink and recycling the bottle. The Champagne was still perfectly drinkable and so we did and toasted DH on what would have been his 79th birthday.
Today I am going to have a rest day, maybe check out TV to see if I want to record anything, I never get to sit down to watch anything live when the family are here.
DD was impressed with the plumbing work not so much with the eye watering bill but I had been without a toilet in the en suite for 18 months and to have everything working is amazing.
Have a good day.

Good morning all from a wet and windy North Leicestershire.

Today I am going to see my friend who has recently finished chemo but is now quite severely depressed. Then I have to collect my meat order.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:20:23

Extremely windy here in Co Durham.
No school walk today so no plans.
Happy Birthday, RoseandLilac.

Sar53 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:24:38

Good morning from the Madeiran coast, not far from Funchal.
We took the hotel shuttle bus into Funchal yesterday. It was very busy in the town due to 3 enormous cruise ships docked in the marina.
It was a beautiful, very warm day. It's hard to believe it is the middle of December.
We came back on a local bus round lots of hairpin bends, up and up and up then down and down again to the coast.
We have decided to go back to Funchal tomorrow when no cruise ships are due. We are going to go up into the hills in the cable car.
Today the weather is not so good so maybe a dip in the indoor pool.
Have a lovely day everyone xxx

Happy Birthday to Rosesandlilac xx

Morning Mick, morning All from a horribly windy corner of Somerset.

All tasks completed yesterday we had planned to wander off today. Maybe not unless we can think some somewhere to be we wonโ€™t get blown away. I truly dislike strong winds, always have.

A very happy birthday rosesandlilac ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿพ. Enjoy that cake, sounds wonderful.

An excellent day ahead grandmattie. Sadly our teenagers have moved on from such things. I miss that special, creative, time with them although not so much the clearing up afterwards. smile.

Iโ€™m not surprised a quiet day was needed, ash, that was quite a journey.

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 21-Dec-23 07:32:10

Morning all from a windy sounding West Oxfordshire.
My auntโ€™s funeral went well yesterday. There was no religion involved at all but several people gave eulogies. My 92 year old uncle talked about when they first met. It was good to catch up with my cousins and some of their children at the reception afterwards.
Today I will be decorating the Christmas cake and the chocolate log I have made for non dried fruit eaters.
OH has to collect a prescription so will pick up a Click and Collect for me from Waitrose. Iโ€™m still waiting for one more present which is being resent.
Have a good day everyone and try not to get blown away!

Pittcity Thu 21-Dec-23 07:35:43

Good morning from a dark and windy Colchester.
Not sure what today will bring as DH and DS are still snoring.
I'll change our bedding and sort laundry. I hope to walk into the City to get a few bits that Lidl didn't have yesterday.
DH had planned to go fishing but I expect the wind will put him off.
Love to all ๐Ÿฆฉx

Grammaretto Thu 21-Dec-23 07:40:58

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. Dark and wild here 9ยฐ.

I did get though to a doctor on the phone who prescribed even more painkillers but also a physio appointment which is early tomorrow.
When I told her I do yoga and ceilidh dancing she didn't think I could be too crippled. if she watched me she might
Possibly some food shopping today and a couple of last minute things.

I will have to call the AA to get my car started. The brake has seized by not being driven enough and I will need it at Christmas when there are no buses.

I'm glad you're well rested Ash you must feel content after such a successful time.
Happy birthday RoseandLilac ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿน
Have the best day you can everyone.

Morning from a breezy but dry S Hants.
Happy Birthday RosesandLilac ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚ enjoy your day.
Yesterday was quiet, apart from the Farm Shop tomorrow no shopping is needed.
I need to drop a card in to my son and family and have a friend calling in for coffee later. In my garden wander yesterday I found some freesia sprouting after two years of nothing.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 21-Dec-23 07:52:12

Morning all ๐Ÿ‘

I have been awake since 1.27 am, consequently I am tired and grumpy!!

I have to put Christmas bedding on one more bed this morning, then itโ€™s a visit to the local farm shop and finalise the items on my Waitrose delivery. The builders are still here, I can see the end in sight, apart from the patio at the end of the garden which I think will be completed in the new year.

Happy Birthday rosesandlilac

Have a great day folks ๐Ÿคถ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ„
