Good morning and Happy Christmas from a wet hillside where I recently discovered three counties meet (Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset).
A quiet day for us, we’ll be face timing DS and his family in a bit, I can well imagine the two excited DGSs 😍
I hope you all have a wonderful day 🌹

Good morning and a Merry Christmas to you all.
I am sitting eating breakfast with the tree lights on and hardly another sound in the house. So peaceful before the family arrive in a few hours. Looking forward to a day of fun and games.
May I wish a happy and peaceful Christmas to you all.

Just popped in to say merry Christmas everyone.

Just dropping in to wish one and all a very Happy Christmas.

We are spending it with DD2 and family and even though they live only 15 minutes drive away we will stay overnight. The GCs are beside themselves with excitement. I hope they are not too exuberant.

There had not been a glimmer of sun here in Wiltshire for quite some time. Can’t wait for it to end.

Good morning from East Renfrewshire.

The Panto yesterday was noisy but fun. They’ve been trotting out the same jokes for forty years I’m sure but the humour is always well received.

I’m waiting to hear the sound of excited children but so far the house is still and quiet.

Best wishes to you all for a very happy Christmas.

Good morning Mick & all, from a dark and still Yorkshire. This is my first Christmas Day spent without family - it’s just me & the hound today. Christmas Eve was spent with son & granddaughter - he cooked a fabulous roast & we spent a few festive hours together exchanging gifts & playing. I feel contemplative now & grateful for my life’s blessings, but aware (and probably still adjusting) to the winds of change in 2023… let’s see what lies ahead. Happy Christmas x

Happy Christmas to you all from a dark W Kent. Off to DD later and looking forward to spending the day with her and her family.

Good morning and Merry Christmas to all from our daughters house in Thelwall. Christmas lunch all prepared yesterday so lounging in bed with cups of tea. Eldest daughter returned back home yesterday after sadly suffering fit after recent brain surgery so that's a worry. I hope 2024 is going to be an improvement on 2023 for all of us. I hope your day is a good one.

Good morning and Happy Christmas, Mick and everybody, from this lurker. I hope you have a good day whatever you’re doing. Thanks so much for all the lovely messages on this thread - you are a warm and kind bunch of people.
Hopefully slightly better weather tomorrow?!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 25-Dec-23 06:57:40

Good morning and a very Happy Christmas Mick and everybody, from a calm Oxfordshire, it sounds as though the gales have moved on.
I can’t get up yet as I’ll wake the dog and she will want to go out and start her day patrolling the garden, the results came back from the Vet, that although the large lump was pre cancerous he removed it all and all is well, a very large scar down her back but she is back to normal, thank goodness.
We went to drinks and nibbles last night, our God Daughter was there and wants to visit us tomorrow, she was MissOops bridesmaid about 26 years ago and I don’t think they’ve seen each other since.p
MzOops is travelling up from Cornwall this afternoon, hopefully the roads will be quiet.
By the time she gets here we will be slumped in front of the fire, probably having eaten too much, I might wait and have my dinner with her.

I hope you all enjoy your day.

Good morning Mick and all and a happy Christmas from Shropshire.

We will be going over the border into North Wales later this morning to spend the day with DD and family.

MIL has taken a turn for the worse yesterday which is upsetting. We await further news today.

Have the best day you can everyone and my thoughts are especially with those who find this season difficult🦩🎄🎅🏼

Good morning everyone and a very Happy Christmas from a dark, dry Northampton; rain forecast later today. Just having a quiet mug of tea before everyone else gets up.

The family artived mid afternoon yesterday, and that was the end of a peaceful house! Fizz was opened and we.toasted my late brother-in-law and a quiet moment was had remembering and reflecting on a life well lived.

The grown-ups prepared a delicious Swedish Christmas Eve meal (DD-out-law is Swedish), and the DGDs were allowed to open one present, in a nod to Swedish tradition. Clearing away and washing up was done by DS and DS-in-law - I am not allowed to lift a finget!

Will shortly go and shower and dress, then I'm ready to face the day

Thank you again for the many kind messages of condolence; they were very comforting.

Hope everyone finds peace and contentment at some time on this Christmas Day.

Good morning and happy Christmas to you Mick and to all from a quiet and dry West Cheshire.
We’ll be on our way to Anglesey soon to enjoy Christmas Day with two sons, one lovely daughter-in-law and two very excited grandchildren.
May you all have a wonderful day whether spent quietly in front of the tv or amidst the noise and laughter of friends and family.

Good morning and a very Merry Christmas from West Berkshire where it is mild and damp.
Thank you for the reminder about The Midwife Mick I had forgotten that.

It’s the annual gathering with my siblings and families today, hosted this year by my sister and niece. Luckily not our turn this year as I’m somewhat hampered by a broken wrist.

Special wishes for a peaceful day to those who might be struggling for any reason. Enjoy your day one and all.

Whitewavemark: So I see! I had forgotten that the slower internet here compared with Torbay means pictures don’t immediately load with the text! 🙄 I’ve asked HQ to remove it, more in hope than expectation of them monitoring today. They rightly deserve to be off duty!

Morning Mick, morning All from a very soggy corner of Somerset.

Woke very early. Think those reindeer slipped off the roof and made a racket. A good day yesterday. Our granddaughters Mum called with her Mum who is living with dementia. Good to see them both although we were saddened at the change in the capable, strong woman we knew. Sausage rolls baked I took some to a neighbour and enjoyed hearing her news. She’s an inspiration, fifteen years older than me she does far more. Photos of a very excited grandson, aka the Typhoon, arrived in the evening, a joy to see.

We’re off in the mobile Christmas tree to have (a gold plated!) lunch with our son in his village pub. His choice. The weather forecast is dire, he will want to walk there, suspect we’ll all arrive dripping and the beleaguered car will eventually need to swim back home.

Wishing you all a happy Christmas, whatever the shape of your day.

Gwenisgreat Mon 25-Dec-23 06:03:56

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! (Not too merry) to all my lovely friends!

Mizuna Mon 25-Dec-23 05:57:06

A precious Christmas good morning from Cornwall where it's damp and mild.

I have the morning to myself before being collected at 1pm to go to my eldest son's for what will be a noisy, fun day. I reflect on the joy of everything I have but also think of people struggling, on this thread and way beyond, especially in the Holy Land.

I was very moved by such kind comments about my youngest son's broken foot yesterday. Having felt so sad in the morning at his plight I had a message from him saying, 'Fancy a disabled hobble around town mum?' And so he arrived via taxi and we went shopping and had a coffee. We looked like we'd just been let out of hospital, me braced up and on crutches, he hobbling with one foot in his big black orthopaedic thingy. We laughed. He is an overcomer and it inspires me.

I do so hope you all have as good a day as possible in all your varying circumstances.

Oh and wasn't Carols from Kings on the TV last evening beautiful? Some very thoughtful poems.

Good morning Michael the South Downs. Enjoy your lunch and tv viewing, alongside millions of others - no doubt!

We are lunching at our son’s who puts on a marvellous spread and organises much enjoyed entertainment. Our daughter and family alongside the grandsons latest girlfriends will also be there. We are picking up my daughter in laws mother on the way.

So everyone

Have a very happy Christmas Day however you are choosing to spend it.

Peace and harmony wished for the world. “If wishes were horses” ……………
