Good Morning Friday 29th December 2023

Good morning from Glasgow where we have brighter skies and the torrential rain has finally stopped.

I had decided yesterday, regardless of weather, I would go out today before I become stir crazy. I would never have thought an outing to Waitrose was something to look forward to but hey ho, this is our new normal these days. If the weather behaves I will spend some time in the garden too.

The sun has appeared which certainly helps to lift one’s spirits.

Wishing all a good day ahead with kind thoughts to those with ongoing worried minds whatever the cause.

Good morning from the Boggy Brae where the sun is shining and the moss setae on the front terrace wall are catching the light. Terrible photo but you get the idea. I love it when this happens in winter.

Safe journeys to all those travelling. MrB and I are going to see some old archery friends in Dumbarton this afternoon. Not a long journey and hopefully the roads will have drained a bit.

Good morning all from a welcome sunny skied East Yorkshire.

I haven’t felt too well the last couple of days. Another one suffering dizziness and nausea. Didn’t do a lot yesterday but managed to make a Christmas dinner soup which I had for me tea. Today I’m feeling more nauseous than yesterday. I’d just like to stay home and relax today. However we are going over to our holiday lodge to get it aired through and beds etc sorted for the family coming on Sunday. I could do with catching up on laundry and a few other jobs at home but DH will just have to do his bit too. We are only staying at our lodge overnight as we are back here tomorrow for GSs birthday celebrations then back to the lodge for NYE.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. I’ve slept in!
It’s still really windy but not raining. The road to town is still closed so another long round trip to take my neighbour back to her gp to have the blood pressure monitor removed. I need some food for the weekend as DD2 is coming, then I have a book club twixtmas party (also known as the feast of the leftovers) . I need to get a wriggle on.

Last night was the annual get together of friends and former colleagues. One of my friends always hosts which is why I go. It was fairly pleasant but I heard about so many other former colleagues who are in very poor health. Another ex colleague and I have had a similar experience with our mothers this year.
Today I'm having a quiet day. I will potter about. Later I'll visit mum. Have a good day all

Good morning everyone from a clear and dry Northampton. Felt chillier when I got up this morning.

Another day in yesterday, another load of towels washed, and now I have four lots of bedding to do, but there is no rush, no plans at the moment for anyone else to stay over. I spent the day tidying up, washed the kitchen floor and mithered about the garage freezer, which had not frozen the stuff I put in the day before. I turned the thermostat to the coldest and hope for the best. Also managed to read a good chunk of my book.

Will venture out to Sainsbury's etc this morning; just realised I have not been out since Thursday last week! Cannot be bothered to cook tonight so will get a curry or some such.

Good morning everyone from the Angus coast where it's a lovely calm morning. It was a great time away, and I can't tell how wonderful it was to see so many of the family, but it's lovely to be home again!
Today I'm just going to puddle through unpacking and putting away, and the first wash is already on - it looks as if I'll be hanging it out for a while, which is lovely. And then I must pop to the shops which will no doubt be horribly crowded because they will all be closed for a couple of days over the New Year. Amazing how the prospect of two whole days of closed shops strikes panic!
Later I shall sit and catch up with all your doings - I've missed you all!

Morning from a dry calm S Hampshire, boy didn’t the rain hurl in yesterday tea time, everywhere is sodden. I did get out for a short walk, washing was done and MrJ finished off the turkey remnants for lunch.
Today is tidying up the living room and putting presents away, I love Christmas, but the clutter is now irritating.
Safe travels on planes, trains, automobiles and the ferry.
Thoughts with those who are lonely or sad.

Another damp day here in West Oxfordshire, although the wind seems to have calmed. The fields are very soggy for dog walking so we keep to higher ground.
I've done some sales browsing from the comfort of my bed this morning, I may pop to the local town for a look around this afternoon.
I hope those of you travelling have a safe journey, and those in pain of any sort feel some comfort today.

We braved the supermarket yesterday so shouldn’t have to shop again for a week.

Plans today include a little light housework and a fair amount of pottering. For the first time in many years I didn’t receive any books for Christmas but I do already have a pile unread so I’ll choose one and settle down for the afternoon.

Dd and little DGD are staying the night as we have to get up early to catch a coach to The O2 to see Disney on Ice 100 yr celebration. Dgd1 was supposed to be coming but her elderly cat is unwell and may have to be PTS. She wants to stay home with her.🐈‍⬛ 😥. Her life-long pal.

Good morning from a dry and calm Suffolk. I have a hair appt this morning so better get a move on.

Yesterday was a lovely day. My DH’s sore throat improved and we went out for lunch as planned to our favourite pub in our near by town. As well as a warm and welcoming bar,it has a restaurant which has served delicious Italian food for many years now. I had sea trout and DH has wild boar stew. Both excellent and a welcome change after several turkey and/ or ham meals.

Hope those suffering from wild weather find some relief as do those with other worries.

I am going to Smyths Toy Shop with DD and GS’s they have a large amount of Gift Vouchers to spend (Christmas gifts) and are eager to do so.

I stripped and changed 4 beds yesterday and all bedding and towels washed, today it’s clothes washing when I return home from shops. Must give the bathrooms a good clean also.

Good morning from the South Downs. No idea of the weather, but probably wet and breezy.
My goodness we’ve had a lot of rain, the ground is saturated and very slippery. It was so mild yesterday. It was a very quiet walk yesterday and was able to share it with so much wildlife who were busy leading their lives.

This between week we always pretty much spend it relaxing, reading, watching tv etc. quite pleasant really.

DS is 48 today! That cannot be possible as I am only 50 myself . Family get together this afternoon for the celebrations. Brother and wife will be coming over with Mum, who I shall take home on the way back.

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. It's dark but I can hear the birds.

Yesterday's bird nesting-box workshop went well. It took a long time and the girls will have to return for a decorating and glazing session.

Their dog came too which was a distraction. He kept leaping up to try to reach some sheeps' wool I keep in the studio. If a dachshund can chase so intently after the scent of a sheep, it worries me for the safety of pregnant sheep in the field.

My DD's power came back on late yesterday. She said it was awful being a frozen Victorian family.

Today I'm doing my usual Friday shift at the community store.

Some baking today for a friend’s musical gathering later today and the morning waiting to see if Ovo keep their appointment to look again at my smart meter - fifth visit in just over a year. Not holding my breath. Nothing else on the diary in the near future but I can live with a quiet life for a bit.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it's 6°C. I am exhausted, chest pains during the night wakened me. I was convinced I was having another heart attack, the pain was excrutiating. Then I realised it didn't feel like the other times and it dawned on me that it was wind!
DH of course slept through it.

At least the relentless rain has stopped. Yesterday DD phoned to ask if I needed shopping, but when I said I was tempted to go to the M&S sale, she suggested we meet for coffee. The problem was getting there. The roads were badly flooded and I ended up taking a very circuitous route.
Having fulfilled her Care in the Community, commitments, DD left because she had forgotten freezer bags and her shopping was defrosting.
That suited me, because I could wander slowly back to my car and check out some of the sales. 😉

Coming out of NEXT after buying photo frames to display pictures of my girls, I set the alarm off. The photo frames were the cause. The tags were removed and off I toddled, only to set the alarm off again and again and again. By this time I was feeling unwell, due to having to stand for so long . I even had to show inside my handbag.
Even after my bags were emptied, the alarms were still going off. In the end, it turned out that a soft tag had stuck to the carrier bag! 😡

I must go, Dollie has arrived and is looking for breakfast (Scotch pancakes). DIL is very unwell with a kidney infection and unable to look after her, while DS1 has had to unexpectedly go into the office. We are quite concerned.

Susan, take care today, what a dreadful situation to find yourself in.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s still very windy here. We are off to The Christie soon. We have several appointments there next month for bloods, hopefully more iv treatment, a consultation with the team and a CT scan. I’m somewhat anxious as you can appreciate so plan to ‘stay tuned’ but to a lesser degree until February when results will be through.

Good morning. I’m having a short lie in as I’ve been coughing much of the night. I feel ok otherwise, just tired.
Late this afternoon DDs and two smaller Grandsons are going to the line of lights in Milton Keynes. The lights depict different scenes .

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still very dark and a very windy Carlisle.
My first day back after Christmas at DS1's in Surrey, which was very enjoyable and which passed amazingly quickly.
Thursday last week I had the rail journeys from hell, a total of 4 hours delay due to bad weather causing problems plus a fatality at the southern end stopping trains from moving out of Victoria station. I spent a delightful 2 hours of it staring at the multi-storey car park outside Preston station! I wondered at one point whether the train would proceed any further.
Today will be a quietly busy day sorting myself out and getting some laundry done. Like harrigran, a 'no contact' day which will take a little getting used to after a whole week amongst the family. Mind, I do prefer living on my own if I can't have my DH, I would freak out if I had to be surrounded by other folk all the time!

Safe journeys, everyone, it sounds as though it will be a rough few days weather-wise.

Good morning from Madeira, our last one. We fly home at 14.30 today and should, hopefully, be indoors by about 21.00.
We've had a lovely time, enjoyed the food and drink and the company.
We have lots of things coming up so I'm looking forward to getting home.
