Good morning, Mick and those who follow from a dry corner of La Sarthe.

Today we begin our journey back to England with a ferry from Ouistreham at 2.00 pm. After an overnight at Portsmouth Travelodge, we shall continue to my DD2 and family in Crewe for a few days.

Thinking of those who are unwell or recently bereaved, especially those struggling with painful memories of happier times. 🦩🎄💐⛄️🦩

I am off, driving to wales at dawn, it is not a journey that I like, the M5 and M4 are always busy. I will be back home at dusk and will be hunkering down for the rest of winter, whatever the weather

I am still plodding with sewing my bag, quite tricky at times and really is the perfect project for this quiet time. The pattern is tricky and is stretching me and my thought processes. I also added an inside zipped pocket. Three more sessions and it will be finished.

The procedure on my shoulder went well.Today I should be resting but have to go over to Cheshire to my mums.She has been away at my brothers and is very confused now she is back home.DD will drive us over there.

Good morning everyone from a dark, windy and wet morning here on the east coast of Fife. Sadly the north east of Fife has seen much flooding and many are without electricity..
today I’m laying the table for a Hogmanay dinner when I’ll be having the obligatory steak pie with my lovely cousins who have been staying over these past 50 yrs. we’re going to see the new year in together but it will be bitter sweet due to my dh passing early this year.

Good morning from the NE where we have gale force winds again, sleep is not easy when it is buffeting my bedroom window.
Yesterday was a quiet day with no contact with anyone. I did small amounts of housework but also watched the whole series of Vigil whilst doing crosswords.
Dinner was the last of the leftovers and some handmade marzipan fruits.
Another day to myself but maybe not quite so much TV.
Safe journey Ashcombe and thoughts are with those with sadness.

Good morning, I don’t know what it’s like outside other than being very dark!
DS, DDIL, DGSs and DH took the dog to Westonbirt yesterday afternoon for a good walk, they returned very wet but enjoyed it.
Today they head away to Devon for a few days. I will put away the Christmas tree and decorations and enjoy returning things to normal.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dark and cold but dry in South Yorkshire. We had a lot of rain yesterday again. DS came down en famille to spend the day with me. I made a curry which went down very well, and a pineapple upside down cake for pudding which seems to be a great favourite with everyone in my family. The chiropodist is coming this morning and then I’m going to hibernate for a bit. Christmas has left me feeling rather drained.

The first morning I have felt like dragging myself on here for a few days. And likely to disappear again soon, as final lot of visitors arrives tomorrow.
Would quite like a duvet day. May take one quite frankly.

Good morning from a damp Bristol. The weather yesterday was very odd, brilliant sunshine then wind and heavy rain alternating all day.
I’ve woken up late for me; I’m normally reading by 5, which infuriates me; usually awake by about 0430…
My upstairs neighbour took me to Tesco yesterday morning, in the pouring rain. We got out of the car and realised that there was a crowd outside. Then saw the staff sheltered in one of those trolley bays. There was a fire alarm and the shop had been evacuated. We decided to come back later, which we did.
The rest of the day was spent trying to finish a particularly gripping book. I did, last thing.
Quiet again today; reading, TV, might see a resident later…
I hope your journey goes well, Ash. Glad that your shoulder is doing well, Susan. If it was a cortisone injection for a frozen shoulder, they are wonderful, aren’t they?

Good morning from Lancashire. It's raining again and still very windy. I was planning to go to the garden centre to buy some hyacinths, but not sure in that wind. Might just stick my head out the window to get some fresh air in my lungs.

We were caught in such a downpour yesterday, dripped for ages. Other than that a decent enough day.

We’re also driving North on the M5 today before heading East on the M4 towards London as our elder son is hosting a family lunch. It’s a rare opportunity for the cousins to be together. We’ll enjoy every moment, a real treat, if not the journey there and back which seems to take longer each time.

Nothing like the length of your trips ash. Wishing you, karma and all on the move safe, trouble free travels.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's promising to be a sunny day. Spent yesterday demolishing the soft part of my bamboo sofa; today I must buy a new saw from B&Q to finish the job over the weekend. It will be good to have a quality saw again for woodworking projects when my small grandson comes round; my other one got worn out when the sycamore tree fell down at my allotment.

Firstly though I'm off to my arty daughter-in-law's a short bus ride away to celebrate her birthday over lunch.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. We enjoyed our visit to old friends yesterday for coffee and a catch up. Today the supermarket and I must begin preparations for entertaining on Sunday.

Younger son and I thought we would have a reading day today! All the furniture is back in the right place but the tree will stay up until 12th night.

Good morning from Madeira, our last one. We fly home at 14.30 today and should, hopefully, be indoors by about 21.00.
We've had a lovely time, enjoyed the food and drink and the company.
We have lots of things coming up so I'm looking forward to getting home.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still very dark and a very windy Carlisle.
My first day back after Christmas at DS1's in Surrey, which was very enjoyable and which passed amazingly quickly.
Thursday last week I had the rail journeys from hell, a total of 4 hours delay due to bad weather causing problems plus a fatality at the southern end stopping trains from moving out of Victoria station. I spent a delightful 2 hours of it staring at the multi-storey car park outside Preston station! I wondered at one point whether the train would proceed any further.
Today will be a quietly busy day sorting myself out and getting some laundry done. Like harrigran, a 'no contact' day which will take a little getting used to after a whole week amongst the family. Mind, I do prefer living on my own if I can't have my DH, I would freak out if I had to be surrounded by other folk all the time!

Good morning. I’m having a short lie in as I’ve been coughing much of the night. I feel ok otherwise, just tired.
Late this afternoon DDs and two smaller Grandsons are going to the line of lights in Milton Keynes. The lights depict different scenes .
Kind thoughts for all who are poorly or troubled and a good day wished for all.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s still very windy here. We are off to The Christie soon. We have several appointments there next month for bloods, hopefully more iv treatment, a consultation with the team and a CT scan. I’m somewhat anxious as you can appreciate so plan to ‘stay tuned’ but to a lesser degree until February when results will be through.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it's 6°C. I am exhausted, chest pains during the night wakened me. I was convinced I was having another heart attack, the pain was excrutiating. Then I realised it didn't feel like the other times and it dawned on me that it was wind!
DH of course slept through it.

At least the relentless rain has stopped. Yesterday DD phoned to ask if I needed shopping, but when I said I was tempted to go to the M&S sale, she suggested we meet for coffee. The problem was getting there. The roads were badly flooded and I ended up taking a very circuitous route.
Having fulfilled her Care in the Community, commitments, DD left because she had forgotten freezer bags and her shopping was defrosting.
That suited me, because I could wander slowly back to my car and check out some of the sales. 😉

Coming out of NEXT after buying photo frames to display pictures of my girls, I set the alarm off. The photo frames were the cause. The tags were removed and off I toddled, only to set the alarm off again and again and again. By this time I was feeling unwell, due to having to stand for so long . I even had to show inside my handbag.
Even after my bags were emptied, the alarms were still going off. In the end, it turned out that a soft tag had stuck to the carrier bag! 😡

I must go, Dollie has arrived and is looking for breakfast (Scotch pancakes). DIL is very unwell with a kidney infection and unable to look after her, while DS1 has had to unexpectedly go into the office. We are quite concerned.

Susan, take care today, what a dreadful situation to find yourself in.

Some baking today for a friend’s musical gathering later today and the morning waiting to see if Ovo keep their appointment to look again at my smart meter - fifth visit in just over a year. Not holding my breath. Nothing else on the diary in the near future but I can live with a quiet life for a bit.
