Good Morning Monday 1st January 2024 New Years Day
(83 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
And a Happy New Year.
Dark , dry and cold outside here in brackley .
After a easy day yesterday , will relax a little bit again today , may sample a beer as well.
Had a quiet evening dropping off to sleep early ,and usual routine .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning and a Happy New Year to you all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and bright. It's lovely to see Pantsglas and Bellasnonna popping in as well as others.
I finished all the cleaning last night for the New Year. It's an old superstition installed by my mum and I can't not have a clean house with nothing in the washing basket.
Today I'm going to my aunt and uncle's house for New Year's dinner. I expect it will be steak pie which I love. It's a change from the usual practice because in the past I would have had the family. However the years roll on and things change. The rest of the day will be quiet. Have a good New Year's Day all. May 2024 bring peace and happiness.
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 6°C.
The only item on the agenda today is a walk down to the river to pay my respects and blow away the cobwebs.
Wishing you all Happy New Year 🌹
Happy new year from Manchester. Watched the fireworks in Sydney, Hong Kong, Dubai and then London,
Its a typical damp and chilly Manchester day so far as I can see on the cctv and I have no intention of going outside to find out. I should read the meters but I cant be bothered. Tomorrow is another day.
Im glad all the stress and hassle is over for another year,
Good morning from a almost sunny Black Counry, with a bright blue sky.
Didn't wake up until 9am, as we watched Jools and didn't get to bed until 1am!
Plan today is taking down all the decorations and having the house to a semblance of normality. Hopefully also manage a walk, perhaps go to Clent Hills.
Happy Anniversary to the Thorntrees
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2024
Happy Anniversary to the Thorntrees and lovely see posters returning
Good morning from Glasgow. It’s raining again!
A quiet relaxing day ahead but never boring as I please myself with choices of whatever I feel like doing.
Wishing all a happy, good health and contentment for a new year ahead and strength to those who will continue with worries and struggles.
It’s actually not raining which makes a change, so all the people with plans for a walk will at least be dry though underfoot is another thing entirely.
I didn’t bother to stay up and will celebrate new year by dealing with the last of the bedding used by Christmas visitors. Christmas decorations, very modest, will come down later in the week, and then normal life can be resumed.
A happy new year to all GNers.
Good morning and a Happy and healthy New Year to you all. We stayed up as little pooch was a bit fearful of the bangs. Quite a lot around here. 🎇🎆
Sds1 came and helped take down lights and decs and put them all back in the loft. Such a help! He stayed for coffee (usually dashes off) and we had a lovely long chat. We started jokingly talking about when we ‘pop our clogs’ and he got emotional and said ‘I will be very sad’. 😥. Oh dear! We cheered ourselves up and had a laugh before he left, taking two bags of compost with him 🤣. He’s more than welcome 😇.
Today I’m going to clear out our little room downstairs which holds coats, hats, scarves, toys, craft , dog basket, art stuff , books and much more. It needs a good sort out!
Nice to see you Bellasnanna. How are those twins?
Happy anniversary Thorntrees. We’re 52 yrs also,
Take care all and enjoy the day.
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s not actually raining at the moment.
The ballet yesterday was excellent, the adaptation of the story was clever and funny, the costumes beautiful and the dancing superb. Loved every minute.
We saw in the New Year together for the fiftieth time and were so very grateful for the privilege.
Both children and their families coming today.
Wishing you all a guid New Year.
Good morning and Happy New Year !
Not the best start as I have a hacking cough and have woken with what I presume is an eye infection. So will have to see if there is a chemist open to get some drops or similar .
Otherwise a quiet day for us.
Wishing you all a good start to this new day, week and month and year.
Good Morning from a bright Co Armagh, it’s chilly here , but that’s because my heating stopped working yesterday!
Happy New Year Mick and all the posters j
Morning from a dry S Hants, Christmas was cleared away yesterday and the New Year ushered in, lots of fireworks here, we stood out to watch them.
A little cleaning to do, wrap my son’s birthday present and I’ll have a walk. We’re meeting him and his partner out tonight for burgers, he’s 33 tomorrow, crumbs!
Happy anniversary Thorntrees enjoy your reminiscing.
🦩🦩
Pants how wonderful to see you posting! 😘
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Thorntrees!
Good morning and happy new year from North Yorkshire. A lovely pink sunrise to start the year.
DD2 will go home today after we have the decorations back in the loft!
Have a good day everyone
Good morning from a dry looking Suffolk with love and very best wishes for a happy and healthy 2024 for all.
Apart from a phone call from DD1 who was taking DGD2 to a sleepover at her friends and several WhatsApps, last night was the usual evening of a lovely meal,a bit of tv and bed by 11pm.
We did reminisce about a New Year we spent in India many years ago when we were staying in a heritage hotel in Jaipur. There was a lavish buffet in the grounds with music from an island in the lake. The thing that we always remember and laugh about was the label on the plates of profiteroles……” prophet rolls”.!
Good morning everyone a happy new year my gn friends from the east coast of Fife where it’s a very cold and foggy start to the day.
The steak pie is in the fridge the mashed potatoes, mashed turnip and carrots are all ready to heat up for dinner tonight with the lovely cousins who have been coming for over 40yrs on Hogmanay staying over for one night, 2 of us were on the non alcoholic drinks one on the whisky (not me) 🥴
Hope you’re new year is a memorable one, love to all ❤️
Happy New Year every one, loving the photos. I feel a little like your friend RosiesMaw! Watching Britain's Favourite Walks at the moment so am feeling inspired to do something about it!
Love and peace for the coming year every one x
Good morning & a Happy New Year to everyone. A quiet day yesterday, a quiet evening & early to bed. My neighbourhood is definitely not Party Central. No plans for today except the need to get out for some fresh air & exercise.
Happy anniversary & Congratulations Thorntrees. It's 53 years tomorrow for us.
Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy New Year from a rather soggy West Oxfordshire. It isn't actually raining at the moment and is calm but rather gloomy.
I too will dismantle the tree today and give everywhere a good clean. I will miss the lights, so may keep some over the fireplace. We will have roast beef and all the trimmings later.
I hope you all enjoy this first day of 2024.
A very Happy Anniversary Mr&Mrs Thorntrees enjoy your special day! ❤️💐🥂
Good morning and Happy New Year from Shropshire.Dry at the moment with rain forecast later.
Nothing planned today.I think DH is going to make a roast dinner, well a vegetarian roast!
Have a good day everyone🦩
Good morning Mick and all on this lovely thread from a dry north 🏴- I’ve been AWOL too long but have dipped in occasionally to read about your bizzinesses 😉 - some have made me 🤣 out loud!
I also know that some have had such trying times (no names in case I miss one) in 2023 and hope that this year will be better in all the ways you’d want 🤗
All has been relatively quiet at PG towers and I thank my blessings for that as I know that tougher days are coming with loved ones health but hopefully not yet…🤞
A good new year to all 🥂x
Good morning and a very Happy New Year to all on Gransnet. It is bright and sunny here in Northampton, with a gusty wind which blew my side gate open overnight. I had wedged it closed, but the wind still managed to shift it.
A quiet day in yesterday; I stayed up and watched Rick Astley and the fireworks at midnight, but didn't sleep well when I eventually got to bed, perhaps it was the fizz! I seem to have developed neuralgia which has been painful.
DS was working overnight in London, and sent me some photos of the firework display which he could see from his office window.
Another quiet day in, and hope to make a start on Demon Copperhead which I have a month to read for book club.
I also would like to see a picture of your new bag karmalady!
