As an administrator of a school website, this was drummed into us at safeguarding training. Consequently only side and back views of children were shown and no names were published. Sad, but necessary.

As well as the safeguarding issue, including the risk of your children's faces being photoshopped onto images of abuse, and the rights of children not to have their photos shared with all and sundry, there is also the risk of facial recognition software being used to identify individuals - and I am sure there will be the ability to 'age' photos at some point, if not already possible - there are real issues around civil liberties with this.

Do you mean in general. There are numerous reasons with regard to child safeguarding.

I would never show pictures of my family on line even to close friends. The are around my house and we show pictures when we see each. It's up to individuals to decide who sees what. More important than ever with young children.

Maybe if that’s how you feel, and I would absolutely agree, don’t post photos of your children at all, I should think that even if your account is private, it would be quite easy to gain access.

Pictures can be easily used for child abuse and other illegal anti social behaviour have you never heard of women who fall in love and are fleeced out of large sums of money by men who steal a picture and become that person

it's a matter of privacy and the rights of individuals to decide if when they want their images to be broadcast, which will make them identifiable.
obviously the royal children are seen at public events so their images are already well known.
is this a serious question ?
or is part of yet another in-laws saga ?
