Good morning from what,so far,is a dry day in Suffolk. I didn’t venture out yesterday fearing flooded lanes but I was relieved this morning when our paper was delivered at the normal time.

The man who delivers is a local retired farm worker who knows all the lanes around our village so some at least must be passable.

My Wednesdays keep fit classes don’t start till next week and my monthly meeting doesn’t start til 1pm so I have a free morning. I need to return a parcel at the post office so might venture out….or leave it til tomorrow when I have to go out. These grey gloomy days seem to sap my energy.

Hope today is a good one for all, especially those with worries.

Good morning from the Essex coast. It's not raining at the moment and the wind has abated.
Washing, ironing, housework and admin for me today.
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning Mick, morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

We got the Christmas decorations packed away yesterday, gone are the days when I kept them up till twelfth night.

I’ve an appointment for a Dexa scan today at a hospital I haven’t been to before, will leave in plenty of time as I have no idea what the parking is like. Probably be far too early. That’s the height of my excitement for the day. grin

Wishing everyone a good day.

Morning from a not raining S Hants, the rain and wind yesterday were incessant, lots of trees down locally and rivers bursting their banks,
I don’t envy you that journey Ashcombe.
Library today, returning books, none to be taken out as I have a Christmas stash, some rather neglected cleaning to be done too. Quiz tonight rather than Monday, we have a full team.
Have fun planning your trips Mick.
Gentle thoughts with those struggling.

Good morning all from acwet Glasgow, where its 7°C. This rain is relentless.

Today we will take down the tree and I won't be doing much else.
Bella I love hearing about the weather in Malta, one of my favourite places, I have so many happy memories of there. The other day we were reminiscing about our adventures there in a tiny Suburu, with no third gear and three children crammed in the back.

Lots of busyness here, I am envious!

Grammaretto Wed 03-Jan-24 08:04:18

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm back in bed with my cuppa.
Slowly getting back into a routine as the days get longer.

I went into Edinburgh on the bus and saw the Turner Watercolours at the Scottish National Gallery. They are only displayed in January to protect them from fading. Marvellous and still free.

A little necessary shopping to follow and a cafe lunch. must start diet today

I made some phone calls in the afternoon and great strides with my knitting while watching TV.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from an eerily quiet Sefton. I am surprised to find it looks merely damp outside after the copious amounts of rain yesterday.
We had an enjoyable trip into town yesterday. The walk from train station to restaurant took us into a few shops (ooh look the sales are still on) - this also stopped us getting too wet. It was very quiet due no doubt to the appalling weather. We had a lovely lunch, we will definitely go back. Thank you for all the good wishes & congratulations. It's hard to believe we've been married 53 years & 56 years since we met. Where does time go?
Back to our normal Wednesday routine of 'minding' our youngest Gd whilst mum & dad work from home. No doubt we will be shown every single thing that Santa brought. It's another no cooking day for me 😃 as we will stay for tea.
Take care all.

Good morning from a dark, but dry at the moment Black Country.

Mum is 94 today! So a bit of a family lunch (those not at work) I think there will be 9 of us. Physically she is absolutely wonderful, just her memory not so good now.

Gym first thing, then off over to Mums

Sorry to hear you are cut off Kitty hope the water soon subsides.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from the East Midlands - beautiful sunrise this morning and hopefully no rain today!

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 03-Jan-24 07:54:49

Good morning from a dry and bright Oxfordshire, the gales yesterday were horrendous and we have/had blocked roads with fallen trees, I’m assuming they were cleared overnight.
2 roads out of our village were flooded, they both lead into another village which always floods, so for a while we were cut off, the weather was so awful though so we stayed indoors.
Christmas decs are down and packed away so just the usual housekeeping today, a dog day too so a long walk this afternoon if it stays dry, she hates the rain. Then I must finish filling in the new calendar.
Well it’s started to cloud up already, so it probably won’t stay dry for long.
Have as good a day as you can everyone. Let’s hope some of us see some sunshine.

brook2704 Wed 03-Jan-24 07:54:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold at about 1º but it looks dry.
I do miss a trip to Ikea gMattie theres none up here so haven’t been for years. Once in the shop I could never find the way out!
Today I’m back to the gym for a couple of classes, it’ll be hard work today! I’m also looking forward to having a coffee and a catch up with my pal and hearing all her news.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from East Yorkshire. Still dark but dry at least for now.
Yesterday I watched the tennis from Brisbane with Rafa as I dismantled the Christmas tree and packed up for home. Abandoned the stop in Beverley due to rain. Might try again at the weekend as they do have nice shops there and I love a sale bargain.

This morning I shall be tidying up and then this afternoon we are taking GS to the panto. Oh yes we are! Can’t wait.

What a disappointment about the chocolate cafe GM it sounded right up my street.

Have a good day everyone.

loopyloo Wed 03-Jan-24 07:46:52

Exciting day today.
Repair man is coming to hopefully fix the dishwasher, Tesco is bringing our food, DD is coming back after work and DGS and DGD coming
back here after dinner at their father's.
In the mean time we stay in the warm and DH continues to recover from his aortic repair.
Have a good day everyone.

Chrissielou Wed 03-Jan-24 07:45:55

Another wet day here in West Oxfordshire, the storm managed to blow over a large white birch in our garden which is in a huge pot. DH and I pulled it back upright but a branch had been broken in the fall. It is calmer this morning but squelchy underfoot when I took dog down the field in the darkness, before leaving for work.
I hope you all have a good day, and those with worries feel comforted.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 03-Jan-24 07:39:38

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. No idea what the weather is like but I know rain is forecast again!
I have a WI committee meeting this evening. I printed off all the info yesterday but need to check bits and pieces today.
Younger son went back to London yesterday. He said there were signalling problems so it took nearly three hours from Oxford! So it is just me and OH in the house again.
Have a good day. Commiserations to those of you with difficulties.

RosesandLilac Wed 03-Jan-24 07:38:56

Good morning from sodden south Gloucestershire where it’s still raining 🙄
Off to drop some bags at the charity shop and pick up the dog’s wormers from the vet this morning. I might loop round to Lidl for a few bits on my way back. I haven’t been anywhere for two weeks now!
DH has announced he’s no longer eating cheese, curry, potatoes or chicken 🙄😵‍💫. He gets these weird fads every now and again, completely irrational and irritating to me.
I think I’ll get him to cook his own meals!
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Georgesgran Wed 03-Jan-24 07:31:52

Good morning from Durham. Rain isn’t forecast today, but I’m not fully convinced. Child minding, so a 25 mile drive to pick up DGS1. I’ve no plans, so I’ll ask what he wants to do. Maybe call at the ATM first - it may get expensive!
Best wishes to all. X

Pittcity Wed 03-Jan-24 07:30:18

Good morning from a dark Colchester where the wind has dropped and the rain has stopped for a while.
Nothing worse than a few lost bin lids reported on our estate after the storm.
Usual Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre this morning. Supermarket and ironing this afternoon.
Love to all 🦩 x

luluaugust Wed 03-Jan-24 07:17:54

Good morning from a damp W Kent. Despite the wind and rain yesterday I managed to get to the local shopping centre and get my glasses adjusted. I pottered in a few shops but as it started to get very busy I made my way home. Today DF is coming to visit and DH has dental visit.
Best wishes to all

Ashcombe Wed 03-Jan-24 07:12:52

Thanks, cornergran; we thought of you as we passed Bristol, grandMattie.

karmalady Wed 03-Jan-24 07:12:43

Good morning, rain again all day in s somerset

I need to occupy myself, again, with what I call `something positive and inspiring` ie not housework. DD has a birthday in a few weeks, I will make her a bag, the francli pocket bag, she will use it a lot.

Somehow I did completely empty a large freezer drawer yesterday, quite a relief, I don`t yet know when my frozen fruit/veg delivery will come. DD says the quality is lovely. I wish I still had my allotment but such is life.

Have a good day

Bellasnana Wed 03-Jan-24 06:50:50

Good morning from Malta where it is another warm, dry day. We desperately need rain. Isn’t it a pity the weather can’t be shared out more evenly.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

kittylester Wed 03-Jan-24 06:38:16

Good morning all from a very wet bit of North Leicestershire.

Please send food parcels - last night the only way out of our village involved a 10 mile detour.

I was going shopping today and DH was going to the gym but it looks like I will have to do the ironing instead and DH will have to do some DIY.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Wed 03-Jan-24 06:35:38

Morning Mick, morning All. I don’t have to look out to tell you our corner of Somerset is getting another soaking, I can hear the rain beating on the window.

Cleaning accomplished yesterday it will be a gentle pottering day here I think. The last two bags of decorations can be put away, Mr C can begin a new jigsaw, I feel like weeding some paper this morning. We may well try for a garden centre this afternoon if the road is ok.

The photo is of our very confused camellia. Another half a dozen buds beginning to open.

Our hospitalised friend is a concern, he was unconscious yesterday, antibiotics, fluids and oxygen may have helped, see what today brings.

That was some trip ash. Not something we could contemplate now. Your friend will welcome your support today. Enjoy planning mick.

Thinking of all finding life hard going. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

grandMattie Wed 03-Jan-24 06:33:27

Good morning from a wet and windy Bristol.
Glad your journey went well, Ash, and to see you back, pant. I’ve been up/awake and drinking my own chamberpot since 430.
Yesyersy was exhausting. We arrived a IKEA just after opening, yet it was heaving with mostly young couples and toddlers. Mercifully, there was no screaming or tantrums.
DD and I spent a couple of hours planning furniture, checking measurements for me to order online. She got various bits for her newly painted hallway, to which I added a rather nice pot stand and two plants - I later gave her one of my own Begonia rex.
Back to the vicarage for lunch, where we also assembled and put up the stuff she had bought. The plant stand looks lovely.
We then went off to town to Mrs. Potts, the chocolate cafe. It was very pleasant, very busy, but a bit disappointing. I had been led to believe that it would be awash with chocolaty foods and drinks…. There were two chocolate cakes and about three types of brownie/cookie, and various hot chocs, teas, etc. itwas nice though.
I was exhausted and my back was very painful - one of the extremely rare times I wished I had a bath.
Once home, I ordered the many items of furniture I wanted, to replace my make-do stuff, to empty my spare room, etc. It was not cheap, but then I can’t remember the last time I bought any furniture.
Today, I had wanted to go to town, but I think it’s going to be too wet.
Carpe diem, dear virtual friends. 🦩🦩🦩🦩
