We waited until the engagement before we indulged!(easier for me than him!)I was "entitled" to being on the pill, being an engaged lady! Plus I definitely didn't want to risk a pregnancy! Also as an added "no no"I was brought up with the" nice girls didn't ".I was 21 at the time and" it"happened when we were on holiday. We were staying with his aunt and uncle.Separate rooms for DH(then)and I but when they left for work, himself visited and we did the deed.I was an "innocent" virgin. He,d had a teenage girlfriend before me whom he lost his to. She DIDN'T need a ring or the pill .I was told, much later no other method was used either.I insisted on "back up".I must have been thorough!!Can't say it was earthshattering but it was nice to be" close ".Anyone else have good or bad memories of their" first time "?

Well I married early 60 s and yes I had sex before marriage
no problem with anyone knowing I had it before, during and after 🤣🤣🤣

At the London family planning clinic I attended in 1968 most women were either already married or if not we needed to be engaged with an imminent wedding date. We were called by our soon to be married names. Mrs so and so etc snd when I was called I carried on reading my magazine, Dh had to jog me.
Not so swinging 60 s after all,

Actually that might be mid to late 60s

Glorianny Mon 08-Jan-24 10:54:16

All I'm going to say is you didn't need to be engaged to get the pill. If you knew the right doctor (and we girls told each other) you could get it in the mid 60s. The rest is my business.

I bet that most of us had very similar experiences in that area of life.

As a student in the late 60's/70's I knew of 50 shades of Palatinate Purple. I'm not saying I indulged nor would I want to know the details of anyone who did.

nobody with integrity would..

Probably in the “70s” a lot of women had only had sex with the man they married. Now I guess there are very few, IMO having a lot of partners is bad partly for women’s emotional welfare but also men taking easy sex for granted.

I seriously can’t imagine that in the seventies there were any girls who were married as virgins, I definitely didn’t know any, a lot of us weren’t especially interested in marriage at all.

Perv alert. 🔔

Yup. Definitely.

I don't actually want to discuss the intimate details but (except to say there was an overly interested Labrador, a pal who couldn't take the hint and a parcel that needed to be signed for, all of which killed the moment!) but I don't think there is any harm saying whether you were a virgin when you married or your attitude towards sex before marriage.

As to the "nice girls don't", I'd been abused a few years before so I didn't feel 'nice'. I was more worried about being arrested as I was a week before my 16th Birthday as my mother used to take great pleasure in telling us that was what would happen.

Shelflife Sun 07-Jan-24 23:29:52

Definitely not a prude, but it's nobody else's business - why would anyone want to know anyway ?

Sago Sun 07-Jan-24 23:26:41

We’re such sleuths but it’s not hard.

A once regular poster started a thread about someone local to her who was in trouble with the law, she knew the person because she had taught him, she had divulged information in previous threads that meant in less than 5 minutes I had found this person online, I immediately alerted her, she was genuinely really shocked and had the post removed.

It’s amazing what a trail we all leave behind!

With whom he got back in touch …

By email, so she is online despite what OP claims.

There are clearly one deep seated issues and I don’t see how this thread can do anything to resolve them. Clutching at straws perhaps?

Sorry re mumsnet!

Interesting that the only person who has answered this question is a man!

We are not interested OP,go and post over on Mumsnet, they will be delighted to engage with you.You come across as childish on here.

I agree with you re gransnet.

The response from Bobcat came across as coarse.

If anyone is receiving inappropriate PMs, take a screen shot and show it.
No wish to offend but if you don’t know how to take a screen shot I’ll explain how.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Jan-24 22:54:14

With whom he got back in touch …

BigBertha1 Sun 07-Jan-24 22:53:52

Yes with disastrous consequences

Sago Sun 07-Jan-24 22:31:54

Looking back through the OP’s posts, this is clearly a topic of great interest.
Nana75 Is this all about your husband’s first experience?
It seems you can’t come to terms with the fact he had a previous lover.

Sara1954 Sun 07-Jan-24 22:00:38

Yes I agree, strange subject for discussion amongst strangers.
I doubt our earlier experiences vary much anyway

VioletSky Sun 07-Jan-24 22:00:14

It's against guidelines

I have received punishment in the past for "troll hunting"

Best to report concerns and move on to threads that do interest you

RosiesMaw Sun 07-Jan-24 21:57:21

Be warned - there’s one person here who is sending inappropriate PMs

Not to me they’re not!

crazyH Sun 07-Jan-24 21:50:07

GSM - yes, though I guess GNHQ is probably on a break.

Galaxy - no need to apologise. I did not take offence at all
