We waited until the engagement before we indulged!(easier for me than him!)I was "entitled" to being on the pill, being an engaged lady! Plus I definitely didn't want to risk a pregnancy! Also as an added "no no"I was brought up with the" nice girls didn't ".I was 21 at the time and" it"happened when we were on holiday. We were staying with his aunt and uncle.Separate rooms for DH(then)and I but when they left for work, himself visited and we did the deed.I was an "innocent" virgin. He,d had a teenage girlfriend before me whom he lost his to. She DIDN'T need a ring or the pill .I was told, much later no other method was used either.I insisted on "back up".I must have been thorough!!Can't say it was earthshattering but it was nice to be" close ".Anyone else have good or bad memories of their" first time "?

Crikey, do I want to know all that? No I don’t. Nor do I wish to share, thank you.

RosiesMaw Sun 07-Jan-24 16:22:05

I tend to be suspicious of threads starting with intrusive questions like these.
1) because I have no interest in anybody else’s sex life half a century or more ago
2) I don’t expect to share mine with anybody else
3) I am aware of threads about grannies’ private lives and maybe loves appearing on Facebook or in the popular press.
Why would anybody want to know?

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Jan-24 16:27:43

I can’t imagine why anyone would ask others or want to share. Presumably the OP is talking about her husband’s previous girlfriend with whom he recently ‘reconnected’. I wonder what he or the girlfriend would say about her post?

I agree to much information and no I don't want to share my experience.

For me to know and absolutely no one else to find out.

Oh dear,I seem to have disturbed a hornet,s nest! And I thought we were in the 21st century!

I’m not a prude but some things are private - and I have to say I take a dim view of your sharing your husband’s experience with his previous girlfriend, about whom we have heard much from you already. Does it not occur to you that she, or someone who can identify her, might be on GN?

"She DIDN'T need a ring or the pill" your point being?

pascal30 Sun 07-Jan-24 16:52:26

Marydoll Sun 07-Jan-24 16:54:13

Not interested in the least in anyone's sex life.
Oh and I am not a prude!

Smileless2012 Sun 07-Jan-24 16:55:50

grapes of gropes!!! gringrin

Nana75 Sun 07-Jan-24 16:59:02

Isn,t it interesting!I have read quite a few posts where gn,s have discussed their partner,s/husband's ED issues. As well as those who openly discuss "how they miss intimacy" .What I would add,if you don't have anything interesting or constructive to add......maybe say nothing at all!!

You’re not wrong there but there is something unsavoury about a woman of a certain age wanting to know about strangers sex lives.
As I’m sure you’re aware there are plenty of sites around where you would be welcomed with open arms.
This isn’t one of them.

I,now feel totally put in my place, thankyou MERYL.I think we have "crossed swords"on previous threads.

Hithere Sun 07-Jan-24 17:07:31

Exactly, it's the 21st century!

It doesn't mean some life events may get reclassified as public automatically

Kandinsky Sun 07-Jan-24 17:19:37

Thing is op. Not many people our age care about other people’s sex lives.
Because basically it’s a bit boring.
We’ve lived a lot & seen a lot.
Mumsnet have a dedicated sex topic for all things sex related ( or they used to when I was on there years ago ) & trust me, they discuss everything! - but they’re a lot younger over there so sex is more relevant I suppose - not saying sex stops at 50, but it’s not a subject older people are that interested in. Generally speaking.

Why am I not surprised.

rafichagran Sun 07-Jan-24 17:45:35

No I would not share, it is private. Not open for discussion. In other words mind your own business.

MERYL:I can assure you I am neither "unsavoury or dim".Throwing insults is not warranted.Thanyou!

Dim I don't know, but I find the question nosey and unsavoury.
