Good morning from a damp NE, I could hear the rain during the night.
I watched quite a lot of TV yesterday while doing crosswords but was annoyed to find that Vera had not recorded. I always record itv so that I can fast forward the adverts.
Nothing planned for today except maybe run the hoover around downstairs and then read my novel.
DD is returning to Brussels today, she will work there for a couple of weeks and then she is off to America.
Love the cake * Bellasnana*.
Have a good day.

Good morning from slightly foggy South Lanarkshire.

Marvellous cake Bellasnana.
I do admire your stamina, and yours too Grandmabatty, I only do one day now and find that exhausting.

What does NYD mean gM?

GG that looks beautiful, I’m quite envious.

Back to ‘auld claes and porage’ after the festivities which means a shift in the charity shop for me today.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue skies this morning. There is a tiny sliver of moon and a planet. Venus?
I should be going on the village walk but my cough is still so bad. I’m trying to call the gp but just getting an engaged tone. It’s been a week now since it started and it needs sorting.
Love the cake Bella
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone, good news about the weight gain Mick from an overcast Oxfordshire, my outdoor thermometer says -2 but there is no frost, forecast is for snow later. That will be fun. Not. Beautiful cake Bellasnonna
Housework today and a dog walk, she had a lovely red coat for Christmas and she will definitely need it this morning.
Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts are with those who aren’t so chipper.
Stay warm everyone

Jaxjacky Mon 08-Jan-24 08:07:57

Morning all from 0 but no frost in S Hants, back on the voluntary phone today after a break, there’s a full laundry basket to tackle as well.
We’re forecast snow showers, quiz will be chilly tonight in our draughty old pub.
I’ll try and get out for a walk later.

Good morning from a dark and cold Suffolk. I’m appreciating the lighter afternoons but am sure that extra dark time has been added on to the mornings!

Dental appt at 9.20 about 35mins away so must get a move on. Hoping it’s just a check up with no treatment needed after the cost of the replacement filling I had about a month ago. Well it was an emergency appointment and it was what they do now,so the dentist said, often instead of a crown, but with no estimate before,I nearly fell over when the receptionist calmly told me the bill.

What a beautiful cake. Several talented daughters on here with their baking skills. Mine extended only to the Cadbury’s ‘ Harriet the Hedgehog’ birthday cake or ones involving lots of Smarties’.

Hoping for a good day for all, especially those with worries.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I've just put the bin out bucket as we say here the first time since before Christmas. I cannot cope with the Holiday service. I don't have a lot of rubbish now it's only me.
It's dark wet and dreich.
Yesterday was sunny and icy. It was a busy Sunday. I joined the Taizé singing group in the afternoon. It was freezing in the church but a lovely country drive there with friends and these 2 lads in the field..
Today I have a U3A group and a committee meeting this evening. Back to the routines.
What a pretty cake Bellasnana
Glad your cowl is fixed Karma
I admire you working grans doing so much childcare.
Lovely photos GG

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Mon 08-Jan-24 08:02:33

Good morning all from a frosty Glasgow, where it is -2°C.

Bellasnanna, what a talented lady your daughter is. Your boys will grow up having such wonderful memories of a loving gran.
I miss our childminding days with Dollie, but wouldn't have the stamina to do it now.

Have a good day, folks.

brook2704 Mon 08-Jan-24 08:00:54

Good morning everyone from a very cold and frosty Inverness, about -2º just now
Fingers crossed you get your boiler fixed Sar53 far too cold for no heating
A gorgeous cake Bellas well done to your DD
DGS stayed for his sleepover so we’ve got the school run, then I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes and finally lunch and a long catch up with my friend this afternoon.
Hope today goes well grandmabatty, you’ll need a rest later
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings.

Bonnybanko Mon 08-Jan-24 08:00:24

Good morning Mick and all my friends, sorry I didn’t see your post today Mick I’ve added mine on to yesterdays post. It’s freezing cold here on the east coast of Fife and I had a wonderful day yesterday. I went to church, then on to one of my local golf clubs for a Sunday roast beef dinner. I had a great sleep last night I was sooooo tired. I’m busy today again.

Have a good day my favourite people love to you all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 08-Jan-24 07:59:50

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
My Patisserie course was fun yesterday. Elder son gave me a voucher for it for my 70th,
Waitrose shop this morning and I’ve got a bag of stuff for the charity shop.
This afternoon it is my neighbour’s monthly craft afternoon. I’m not sure what we’re doing but it’s always good to see everyone.
Have a good day. That pink cake is wonderful.

Gala Mon 08-Jan-24 07:55:36

Good morning. Cold but dry here in Sefton. It's still very dark.
Back to usual routine today. Singing group this morning & WI this evening. Beautiful cake Bella.
Have a good day all. May your day go as planned.

Good morning from a dry, cold Cornwall where the Domino's giant delivery truck has just pulled up across the road. It will take nearly an hour to empty its load of crates. This happens every day and makes me wonder just how many pizzas people order. The delivery guys on their cars and on scooters come and go all day.

Meanwhile, at the back of my flat the robins and squirrel will be lurking waiting for oatmeal. I can't put out more because of rats.

A crazy evening with my sons and co and the other granny, trying not to cringe as I watched my broken-footed son being a pony for his eight-year-old niece. Then a lovely roast and a snatched moment with my other son in the kitchen discussing the New Testament while washing up. As one does. 😂

Today I must get to a beach and breathe the freezing air. Perranporth methinks.

luluaugust Mon 08-Jan-24 07:51:18

Good morning from 2• W Kent. Cleaner back this morning, I have a load of ironing. Otherwise just keeping warm.
Great cake Bellasnana
Enjoy your day

ginny Mon 08-Jan-24 07:51:16

Good morning.
Youngest DGS will be here at 9.00 for an hour and then we’ll be off out with his Mum and also have some lunch.

I’m also hoping to start at a ‘Sit and Get Fit ‘ class this afternoon.

Wishing all a good day. Keep warm.

Chrissielou Mon 08-Jan-24 07:39:14

Still dark and feeling colder here in Oxfordshire. A drier dog walk yesterday but the floods nearby are very bad and from our window the water can be seen covering the fields in the valley.
Back to the working week, at home today though. The mix of working in the office and at home is very welcome, I can't imagine driving into Oxford every day as I used to do.
I hope those with worries find some relief today, some days life is a challenge isn't it.

kittylester Mon 08-Jan-24 07:36:55

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where we don't have a temperature, apparently. It is, nevertheless very cold.

I have a hair appointment and a singing lesson this morning and must also acquire a gluten free cake for choir tomorrow. I doubt it will look like Bella's.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jan-24 07:29:03

Luego my iPhones Spanish is not that great 🤣

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jan-24 07:27:49

Hola amigos, from a warm and quiet Espana.

Will try and catch up with your news, a photo of our journey up into the hill pueblo near us (about 30 minutes away)

Hasta Leuago

Gingster Mon 08-Jan-24 07:23:15

Good morning all.cold but no frost.

I’m up early as I have to take little gd to school as Dd has an appointment. I don’t like the school run on these cold dark days.

This morning I have my Chimes group and then on to have lunch with ‘my lovely girl’. She has a little boy of 2 and is expecting another next month. She’s just moved house so I’ll get her a moving in gift on my way. She lives a few doors away from a good friend of mine.

I hope your journey home is trouble free Sar. You’ll be glad to get back to your nice warm home 🥶.

Fabulous cake Bellasnanna. Enjoy your boys.

Take care all

Pantglas2 Mon 08-Jan-24 07:18:21

Good morning all from a dry but cold north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I’m about to enjoy the best drink of the day ☕️ - I can drink water all day if needed but this is the one that hits the spot 😋

Gosh, that cake is impressive Bella….wish I could produce a masterpiece like that (or even just have a teeny slice actually 🤪)

I have my pneumonia 💉this morning so will combine it with returning library books and enjoy a coffee at the adjoining cafe near the castle walls in Conwy - there may be cake involved now that my appetite has been tempted!

Hope all appointments and happenings go smoothly and the sun puts in an appearance 🌞

Pittcity Mon 08-Jan-24 07:14:58

Good morning from a dark, cold but dry Colchester. There is sleet in the forecast.
DS has returned to work after a fortnight's leave. I'll blitz his room today. His GF put some fairy lights above the bed but neither of them think to dust, hoover or change the bedding.
I've a mountain of laundry and rubbish to sort and deal with.
Love to all 🦩 x

BlueSapphire Mon 08-Jan-24 07:14:51

Good morning everyone from a cold dry Northampton, 1°C according to Alexa and the BBC app. Sunny spells forecast later.

Up early as it is back to yoga at 9.30 this morning. Home for coffee and lunch, then out again to the cinema where I am meeting a friend to see 'One Life', about the Kindertransport. BBC4 are showing the programme this week where he was surrounded by those now grown-up children, so I have set it to record in case I forget it.

A busy morning yesterday; All the decorations and tree neatly packed away in the garage. Washed jeans and leggings, kitchen tidied, all the food storage boxes put away in the cupboard after being used for mince pies, sausage rolls etc over the holiday period.
Dusted and hoovered downstairs, and put everything back in its rightful place, with a few tweaks here and there.

Watched the recording of my team's rugby game in the afternoon, and revelled in the sweet victory! Even though I knew they had won, my heart was going 19 to the dozen in the final minutes!

Lovely cake, Bellasnana!

Wishing all a.good Monday.

NanKate Mon 08-Jan-24 07:13:53

Good morning Mick and All from a very dark, chilly South Bucks.

Off to see ‘One Life’about Nicolas Winton saving the Jewish children. Tissues at the ready. We are going to the Silver Screen performance where we get coffee/tea cake as part of our ticket price 👍. I love our new Everyman Cinema.

Those cakes look delicious Bella.

karmalady Mon 08-Jan-24 07:06:44

Good morning, frosty here but sun will pop out soon and stay until lunchtime

Cowl is being fixed today and I am so glad, the birds drop things down my flue

I made a present for a dd yesterday,a small bag and am leaving my old bernina set up to use. I am on a bag-making mission, which involves a lot of learning. That end of my living room looks a bit squashed but who cares. I made the machine more ergonomic by dropping it down and putting an infill around it, I bought the infill with the cabinet. No backache yesterday, all to easy to get backache when the ergonomics are not right

Today will evolve around the chimney sweep and the cowl

Have a good day
