Good Morning Everyone,
Dark, and dry but cold outside in brackley .
Today will be in housework plus a Wiltshire Food delivery as well .
Should be an easy going day , as I am gradually gaining weight as well .
Take Care,
Mick

Grandmabatty Mon 08-Jan-24 05:53:41

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's -2° and dry and frosty here in Polmont. Today I'm back to very early starts on a Monday for childcare duty. I'll have to go out shortly and clear the car of ice.
Yesterday I ironed in the morning, then washed floors. My friend phoned for a chat in the afternoon and two hours sped by.
Today will be nursery drop off and pick up. Dgs2 and I will go for a walk no doubt and play with his toy cars. I had a very bad night's sleep, even for me, so I'll be like a half shut knife today. Have a good day all

Sar53 Mon 08-Jan-24 06:05:38

Good morning from Hayes in Kent, my last morning here.
The girls are back to school today and leave by 7.30. DGD1 starts her mock GCSE'S and spent yesterday in her bedroom revising.
Unfortunately the boiler has broken here and it has been very cold, hopefully it will be fixed today.
DD1 will take me to the station later and I should be home by early afternoon.
DH tells me we have friends coming this evening to sort out Yacht club business. I could well do without it but nevermind.
I hope Monday is a good day for you all xx

Good morning, it’s a cold start here in south Gloucestershire.
A lovely walk yesterday morning, chilly but the sun shone, followed by a coffee in the village.
Today who knows? Nothing planned but continuing with my online art course I think.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from down South.
I have same weather as Grandmabatty.

Housework day here too.
I like a quiet January, but have lots to do, so am hitting the ground running, this month, so to speak.

Bellasnana Mon 08-Jan-24 06:20:00

Good morning from Malta where it is cold and wet.

Like Grandmabatty I was up very early as DD3 goes back to work today (teacher) so I am already at their place waiting for the boys to wake up.

I look after them five days a week and love every minute of it except for the early start!

They have both been up in the night so poor DD3 is tired out and now has a class of 22 four year olds waiting for her.

Wishing you all a good day.

PS. Thought you might like this cake made by DD2 the theme was ‘Let’s flamingle’😂

grandMattie Mon 08-Jan-24 06:31:55

A late (for me) good morning from Bristol. It is clear and dry, but I didn’t see any frost. Probably about +2C.
That cake is amazing, Bella.
I had a bad night and “overslept “. Don’t know why.
I was dozing yesterday afternoon when the door went. It was a very sweet neighbour who misread my invitation to tea and chat. He didn’t know what NYD stood for and was a week late. Never mind, it was nice talking to him.
Another 12 hour window delivery today, so am staying home and making marmalade again.
Carpe diem, dear friends. 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry but really cold in South Yorkshire. Yesterday I found myself out in the front garden clearing up dead leaves that had collected here and there. It doesn’t seem that long since I did it before but hopefully now that should be the last of them. I also made a batch of Bolognese sauce for the freezer and will make chicken casserole today. This week, with the Christmas and New Year lag phase out of the way, I will be back into my now established routine activities, hopefully.
Bellasnana that is a wonderful cake - too good to cut!
Have the best day you can folks.

cornergran Mon 08-Jan-24 06:49:11

Morning Mick, morning All from a decidedly chilly corner of Somerset. A dry day is forecast, wonderful,

Faffed all day yesterday and succeeded in getting lots of little things done, always feels good. Mr C ironed the bed clothes then retreated to a place of safety and his jigsaw. Sensible man.

That’s some cake bellasnana, your daughter is talented.

Mr C has an afternoon valve climic appointment today so we’ll be off on a couple of buses later. We’re asked to keep checking text messages for a late cancellation as there is uncertainty over staffing. We’ll set off in hope.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 08-Jan-24 06:54:35

Bellasnana such a beautiful cake! I take my hat off to you. Watching your grandsons for five days must be hard work. I look after mine for two days and that's enough.

Ashcombe Mon 08-Jan-24 07:02:00

Good morning from a dry, breezy Torbay with a temperature of two degrees.

The start of a new term for many so good luck to those noble folk like Grandmabatty and Bellasnana stepping up to do childcare duties. My dancing DGD would love the cake, Bellasnana! Safe travels to *Sar53 - I hope the trains are warm! I hope the appointment goes to plan, cornergran.

We had a delicious Epiphany Lunch yesterday with about 60 folk from my church at a hotel within walking distance of home. It was a delicious carvery with a range of vegetables for £10!! I guess the hotel welcomes the business in January. A raffle was organised and we could have had four prizes (!) but only opted for one and told the organiser to redraw.

A good week is wished to you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

karmalady Mon 08-Jan-24 07:06:44

Good morning, frosty here but sun will pop out soon and stay until lunchtime

Cowl is being fixed today and I am so glad, the birds drop things down my flue

I made a present for a dd yesterday,a small bag and am leaving my old bernina set up to use. I am on a bag-making mission, which involves a lot of learning. That end of my living room looks a bit squashed but who cares. I made the machine more ergonomic by dropping it down and putting an infill around it, I bought the infill with the cabinet. No backache yesterday, all to easy to get backache when the ergonomics are not right

Today will evolve around the chimney sweep and the cowl

Have a good day

Good morning Mick and All from a very dark, chilly South Bucks.

Off to see ‘One Life’about Nicolas Winton saving the Jewish children. Tissues at the ready. We are going to the Silver Screen performance where we get coffee/tea cake as part of our ticket price 👍. I love our new Everyman Cinema.

Those cakes look delicious Bella.

BlueSapphire Mon 08-Jan-24 07:14:51

Good morning everyone from a cold dry Northampton, 1°C according to Alexa and the BBC app. Sunny spells forecast later.

Up early as it is back to yoga at 9.30 this morning. Home for coffee and lunch, then out again to the cinema where I am meeting a friend to see 'One Life', about the Kindertransport. BBC4 are showing the programme this week where he was surrounded by those now grown-up children, so I have set it to record in case I forget it.

A busy morning yesterday; All the decorations and tree neatly packed away in the garage. Washed jeans and leggings, kitchen tidied, all the food storage boxes put away in the cupboard after being used for mince pies, sausage rolls etc over the holiday period.
Dusted and hoovered downstairs, and put everything back in its rightful place, with a few tweaks here and there.

Watched the recording of my team's rugby game in the afternoon, and revelled in the sweet victory! Even though I knew they had won, my heart was going 19 to the dozen in the final minutes!

Lovely cake, Bellasnana!

Wishing all a.good Monday.

Pittcity Mon 08-Jan-24 07:14:58

Good morning from a dark, cold but dry Colchester. There is sleet in the forecast.
DS has returned to work after a fortnight's leave. I'll blitz his room today. His GF put some fairy lights above the bed but neither of them think to dust, hoover or change the bedding.
I've a mountain of laundry and rubbish to sort and deal with.
Love to all 🦩 x

Pantglas2 Mon 08-Jan-24 07:18:21

Good morning all from a dry but cold north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I’m about to enjoy the best drink of the day ☕️ - I can drink water all day if needed but this is the one that hits the spot 😋

Gosh, that cake is impressive Bella….wish I could produce a masterpiece like that (or even just have a teeny slice actually 🤪)

I have my pneumonia 💉this morning so will combine it with returning library books and enjoy a coffee at the adjoining cafe near the castle walls in Conwy - there may be cake involved now that my appetite has been tempted!

Hope all appointments and happenings go smoothly and the sun puts in an appearance 🌞

Gingster Mon 08-Jan-24 07:23:15

Good morning all.cold but no frost.

I’m up early as I have to take little gd to school as Dd has an appointment. I don’t like the school run on these cold dark days.

This morning I have my Chimes group and then on to have lunch with ‘my lovely girl’. She has a little boy of 2 and is expecting another next month. She’s just moved house so I’ll get her a moving in gift on my way. She lives a few doors away from a good friend of mine.

I hope your journey home is trouble free Sar. You’ll be glad to get back to your nice warm home 🥶.

Fabulous cake Bellasnanna. Enjoy your boys.

Take care all

Hola amigos, from a warm and quiet Espana.

Will try and catch up with your news, a photo of our journey up into the hill pueblo near us (about 30 minutes away)

Hasta Leuago

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jan-24 07:29:03

Luego my iPhones Spanish is not that great 🤣

kittylester Mon 08-Jan-24 07:36:55

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where we don't have a temperature, apparently. It is, nevertheless very cold.

I have a hair appointment and a singing lesson this morning and must also acquire a gluten free cake for choir tomorrow. I doubt it will look like Bella's.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Chrissielou Mon 08-Jan-24 07:39:14

Still dark and feeling colder here in Oxfordshire. A drier dog walk yesterday but the floods nearby are very bad and from our window the water can be seen covering the fields in the valley.
Back to the working week, at home today though. The mix of working in the office and at home is very welcome, I can't imagine driving into Oxford every day as I used to do.
I hope those with worries find some relief today, some days life is a challenge isn't it.

ginny Mon 08-Jan-24 07:51:16

Good morning.
Youngest DGS will be here at 9.00 for an hour and then we’ll be off out with his Mum and also have some lunch.

I’m also hoping to start at a ‘Sit and Get Fit ‘ class this afternoon.

Wishing all a good day. Keep warm.

luluaugust Mon 08-Jan-24 07:51:18

Good morning from 2• W Kent. Cleaner back this morning, I have a load of ironing. Otherwise just keeping warm.
Great cake Bellasnana
Enjoy your day

Mizuna Mon 08-Jan-24 07:52:46

Good morning from a dry, cold Cornwall where the Domino's giant delivery truck has just pulled up across the road. It will take nearly an hour to empty its load of crates. This happens every day and makes me wonder just how many pizzas people order. The delivery guys on their cars and on scooters come and go all day.

Meanwhile, at the back of my flat the robins and squirrel will be lurking waiting for oatmeal. I can't put out more because of rats.

A crazy evening with my sons and co and the other granny, trying not to cringe as I watched my broken-footed son being a pony for his eight-year-old niece. Then a lovely roast and a snatched moment with my other son in the kitchen discussing the New Testament while washing up. As one does. 😂

Today I must get to a beach and breathe the freezing air. Perranporth methinks.

Gala Mon 08-Jan-24 07:55:36

Good morning. Cold but dry here in Sefton. It's still very dark.
Back to usual routine today. Singing group this morning & WI this evening. Beautiful cake Bella.
Have a good day all. May your day go as planned.
