Being called a Scandi Craze but I imagine plenty of us did it.
My newborn son came home from hospital in the snow 44 years ago tomorrow.
It was really cold with deep snow. The midwife called for a few days and said I was to put him outside in his pram as soon as the snow cleared. I did and he slept really well and was a very healthy baby, child and now adult. He had his clothes on, then a fine blanket inside those gingham baby nests that Mothercare sold. Then a couple more blankets and the pram cover. He also wore a hat and mittens.
I put him out every day when we were at home and I am sure even a bit of winter sunshine did him some good. Summer was lovely.
The only babies I have seen sleeping outside in the last few years belonged to a former neighbour from the Czech Republic. When they were walking she took them on long walks wearing hats, mitts and snow suits.
