Shaeffer pens and biros

Why not buy online if the shops don’t sell them?

I remember the Shaeffer pen was the must have Christmas present in 1975. I think it was a special edition gold plated one, or something like that. I bought my then boyfriend one and it wasn't cheap! They were displayed in a special cabinet in our large Boots in town.

Funnily enough I was only thinking of them a few days ago. As petra says, maybe look online.

I still have a Shaeffer fountain pen- brushed stainless steel with gold decoration. I can't recall the last time I used it.

They are pricey! Are they worth it?

Those pilot G2 pens are nice but seem to last me about 10 minutes exaggeration before the ink runs out

I can recommend the online shop cult pens.com. They do sell the Shaeffer range although one or two might be surprised that Shaeffer operate at the cheaper end of the market! I have bought from them for many years and always had excellent service.

ebay is always a good source for things like this.

I have always wanted a completely reliable fountain pen. One that doesn't leak and will work without having to shake the ink to the nib or, worse still, having to squeeze the cartridge.
After many years of trying out various pens, I'm unable to use one any more but I would love to gift one to my grandson who is a bit of a traditionalist.
I can recommend Signo gel pens which I found to be excellent in the past.

Try Cult Pens. They have an extremely wide range of practically every make of pen. They have a Schaefer biro at £14.99, plus all the other pens mentioned here.

My late husband collected pens of many makes. Each of the grandchildren chose one from his collection. My youngest grandson chose a Sheaffer.

I prefer writing with an ink pen. My current favourite is Lamy, lots of lovely pen colours & ink to choose from

Plooms pens are really nice fountain pens. They are about £59 They are sold by an author Sally Page. My sister knows her. I have one of her fountain pens and it's great but I admit I am not a pen expert. Good luck.

Don't others think you need to hold a pen?
Some aren't balanced in my grip it seems and some are too thin or too fat.

If I was buying a "good" pen I'd need to hold it and compare it to others. Might have to make a journey to a specialist shop.

I had a Waterford pen that was lovely (for me).

I had a Conway Stewart for school, anyone remember them? They wrote as. good as my writing would allow!
