didn't know that till we made a visit to one last week.
With no football match's to be shown either,
it must be a bundle of fun to visit their pubs.
I wouldn't go there if you paid me!

I wouldn't go there if you paid me!
As is your choice. Do you think anybody will be concerned? 🤣🤣
Thanks infoman we watch most sports, particularly football and the six nations rugby, come on 🏴.
I had never been a fan of WS but went with a friend s while ago and we had toast and jam/ marmalade and with a drink which can be refilled. Really liked the bread which was ridiculously cheap,
On our first visit there was a cafuffle because someone came in with a dog amd was angry she couldn’t stay.
There are Cafés in the coast where dogs are welcome snd despite being nervous about dogs prefer not but don’t mind them if they sit quietly under tables but we popped into a pub yesterday snd suddenly two or three dogs started barking and it really startled me.
On the subject of dogs we had just a short walk and after a while started counting the plastic bags of poo which owners throw in the bushes trees on the path , instead of taking it home to dispose of or use a dog poo bin. We stopped at 53 bags. Not the dogs fault but of course it’s the owners. The old chestnut of we will pick them up on the way back just doesn’t wash because these bags have clearly been there for ages,
Why aren’t owners more responsible; why do they think that’s ok.
Daughter and I went to a small cafe in a seaside town yesterday. A couple sat just inside the door with 2 dogs. One large black one and a small terrier type.
Every time someone entered the cafe they went mad barking and it was very annoying and disruptive.
Love Wetherspoons! The one in a town near us has recently closed and is sadly missed.
There are few places to have a meal with children and feel comfortable without spending a ridiculous amount of money.
I have visited weather spoons a few times now. Certainly is very reasonably priced and often in such interesting buildings.
BlueBelle
Just to clarify,I use Weatherspoons quite a lot.

sue500 I totally agree with you but when we express our opinion everyone jumps on us as dog haters NO we re not dog haters just want them in the right places in our lives and that’s not in shops or cafes/restaurants
(People are so oblivious too, yesterday I had to work in a very small room with a nice lady who worked hard and was competent but she reeked of wet dog, it was so unpleasant)As if jumping on the smell of someone's clothes and relating it to wet dogs isn't showing your strong dislike for the creatures! It might be that she got soaked or dries her washing on musty radiators.
Well Joseann you have your own agenda to prove everyone who doesn’t want to eat with a dog nearby, is a dog hater I AM NOT A DOG HATER I ve had my own dogs over the years I only don’t have one now because I know I can’t afford the vet fees etc
And no the lady in question had not just rushed into work after taking her dog for a rainy walk She smells strongly of dog all the time and I know the reason why … she often takes her dog walks with the dog on her shoulders curled up around her neck I ve seen it now , and yes to work in a very very small room just big enough for two people is very very unpleasant
Infoman when you wrote ‘ it must be a bundle of fun to visit their pubs’ it makes it sound like you don’t usually use them
Silverlining you are right our local Wetherspoons is in a very historic building and has one wall covered in large photos of the building in use in past days
I don’t use Wetherspoons that often but when I do I ve always had a good meal at a decent price
For all those who may want to visit Weatherspoons this weekend,
if you want to avoid the International rugby which is taking place again (10/11 February).
SATURDAY Scotland France 14:15pm
SATURDAY England Wales 16:45pm
SUNDAY Ireland Italy 15:00pm
I’ve found that Wetherspoons pubs are variable. The one in my town is spacious and quite pleasant. Not all of them are the same. I don’t think you can generalise here. As for dogs I don’t have one but quite like them. I’ve always felt quite strongly that they shouldn’t be allowed in indoor eating places or shops. I don’t think those are an appropriate environment for animals and I don’t understand why dog owners have to take the dogs everywhere. I’ve owned a dog in the past and would give him a good walk and then leave him at home while I went shopping or out for a drink or meal. I know some will disagree.
No music, no sport, no dogs. Affordable food and drink in a quiet environment, it's easy to see why it's a very successful business despite it's dreadful owner.
Yikes, I apologise, I see they do now show specific sports matches, I had no idea they had changed their policy on that.
Well they don’t have TV s in our local ones greyisnot
Ah, so some are holding out on that BlueBelle, that's good to know. I don't live anywhere near one so my visits are few and far between.
It must be a bundle of fun to visit their pubs

Odd, slightly conflicting comments Infoman?
What's all this dog hater business about?
I prefer to eat in a dog-free zone as DD being around fur or feathers sets off DD's asthma. We have also had the experience of someone else's dog helping itself to a DiL's food while she was eating.
That doesn't make me a dog hater; it just allows me to have a preference.
Three cheers for Weatherspoons and any other wating place that doesn't allow dogs around other people's food. Several cafes here, especially those with space on the beach front, have zoned their eating areas, both inside and out, so that may be a way to go in much the same way as smoking used to be zoned.
Last week we had a couple of birdwatchers in our holiday let. They left me a lovely card telling us how much they enjoyed their stay. They said they were out all day every day and stopped off at a Wetherspoons on the way home with a lovely atmosphere, a couple of log burners and really good food. So they went in every day!
Next weekend(10/11 Feb) will be a Football/Rugby free weekend,
so fill your boots in a sport free, dog free next weekend at the Weatherspoons outlets.

Next weekend is the 17/18 Feb
We had Scotland -France and England - Wales yesterday (10/02) and Ireland-Italy today.
Ireland-Italy today
Ireland 36 Italy 0
Not sure why I put in 10/11 February for NEXT weekend,
as pointed out to me I should have put in 17/18 February.
Am I forgiven?
As someone posted in one of the XLbully threads a place in Norfolk is advertising that it’s XL bully friendly and wants to welcome all XLBullies
Give me Wetherspoons any time
I don't think I could relax around an XL Bully. I know that some owners say they are lovely, but I would feel like I was eating with a lion at the next table.
