Electric blanket for me I'm afraid put on low for three hours before bedtime but I've fond memories of and great respect for the old rubber "hottie".
I too remember how they warmed up my freezing feet in my home with my parents where there was no central heating and certainly no electric blankets( I don't know if electric blankets existed in the 1960s ).
True story-cold hot- water bottles, kicked to the bottom of the bed were often thrown downstairs by my siblings to be refilled for duty the next night. The full bottle , descending the stairs like a Slinky but very , very noisily(plonk, plod) more than once had my poor late mother running into the hallway to check that it wasn't one of us actually falling down the stairs (a not infrequent happening).
You can't do that with an electric blanket!!!
