Who likes a hot water bottle? I do - when the night was at -5degrees I decided to have 2, my feet were cold, I slept much better. I remember my mother advising me to leave the children's socks on when they had their after lunch nap and it worked a treat, something I do on my Nanny Granny days with my grandchildren, why I didn't do this for myself I just don't know - daft of me -

Ooh yes bedsocks and hotties. Brushed cotton bedding and a good book. Just the thought makes me want to go to bed now.

All much in use this last fortnight.

I’m another fan of brushed cotton or flannelette as my mam called it HelterSkelter - just hopping into bed in the autumn when I change over from Egyptian cotton is an absolute treat ☺️

Electric blanket fir me often with bed socks as feet get icy cold .

I carry my hottie around with me. Travelled back home today and had it on my lap in the car. When it’s extra cold I have two. Sometimes three….

How lovely to get such a warm response -no pun intended - I only joined gransnet in early January and it is great to meet people smile

One of our choir members brought her hot water bottle with her to last week's practice. We all thought it was a good idea. We have wheat bags for the microwave, which keep us very cosy on cold nights.

Definitely hotties for me that I warm up in the microwave. I've also just bought me a furry foot warmer that you slip a hot water bottle in, bliss.x

I like flannellette sheets too and put my electric blanket on 10 mins before we go to bed. Also use hot water bottles and microwave wheat bags plus a heated Dreamland throw on the sofa. I hate being cold.

Ohhh love love love my hot water bottle. Its quite funny now because the bedroom is upstairs and i need both hands on both banisters to pull myself up the stairs to bed...... so picture the scene ( 😂🤣😅😆) I stand at the bottom of the stairs and catapult the bottle to the top of the stairs...... hahahahaha....

So basically i love my hot water bottle so much. ....

Thank goodness for hot water bottles. I am tempted to buy one of those long bottles that you can wrap around you. Perhaps I should buy two; one for the front and one for the back. Mind you that may look a bit peculiar...

Love my hot water bottle, electric blanket beneath me. Hot water bottle on top of me, you really can’t get any better.

Despite wearing tights and socks my feet are cold now. I might just go and get my hot water bottle!

I love hot water bottles. It takes me back to my childhood getting into a nice warm bed when there was ice on the inside of the windows and we had no central heating. Brr

I m the hot water bottle Queen always have two, one top one bottom
I ve got a long bottle, a little fat round one, one that goes round your neck and the one that fits round you body with Velcro as well as ordinary ones
I ve done the chuck up the stairs if my hands are full Serendipity
I use them all the year round for my feet which are always cold even in the summer but two in winter

Liz46 Sat 20-Jan-24 21:13:01

Serendipity, you need a cross body bag that is big enough to carry your hot water bottle upstairs. If you can't find one, get a handy friend to make one for you. I'm intending to get something like that as I am having problems with my hip.

There’s one on my knees as I type.

Two days ago when it was bitterly cold DD called in for a cuppa and a chat after work. She’d had a difficult day and the traffic was bad so she was delighted to see I’d put a hot water bottle and fluffy throw on her chair.

Simple home comforts are the best!

Another big hot water bottle fan here too.
Can't imagine how to get through the winter without them.
And bed socks too. Wear them day and night, except when I go out.

Avia are you psychic? i was just emailing a friend telling her I took a hot water bottle to bed last night for the first time in about a decade.

Brushed cotton sheets and duvet cover, all seasons duvet 14.5 togs and my hot water bottle. bliss.😴😴

Even my DD likes them. Would have expected them to be too old school for her.

Farzanah Sat 20-Jan-24 21:39:10

I couldn’t survive without my fluffy hot water bottle. If my feet are warm then so am I. Really dislike electric blankets, not nearly as comforting. I only discard mine around August, if it’s warm enough. 😀

Has anybody seen those long thin hot water bottles, about 3 ft long and maybe 8” across. A girl in our local shop says she has one and it heats a long strip on her bed before she gets in.

Yes, I have two! One for backup.

Fabulous. I have it on the go all day and night.

I was given an electric heat pad (like a mini electric blanket) when I moved house and winter was approaching. I gave it a go but how can something be comforting when you can’t cuddle it? 🤫

Absolutely.... hear, hear.

My mum used to do it with me and I do it now with my GC.... 🥰
