Good Morning Tuesday 23rd January 2024

Good morning from a drizzly Oxfordshire, some packing to do for our trip South on Saturday and some hand washing to do and get dry indoors. I might make the cake mix and cook it on Thursday, then we can ice the cake at the holiday house.

Dgs1 was up twenty times in the night so he's still not great. The family are like half shut knives except for dgs2 who is being a toddler. He goes over to dgs1 every so often who is lying on the couch and pats him gently. It's very sweet.

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, much milder today with light rain. Not decided whether to go on the group walk today.

Did not enjoy yoga class yesterday; most of it was spent on all fours or kneeling, and lots of awkward poses and moves.
I dropped a card in to my recently bereaved neighbour - his sister is staying with him, so I am glad he has company.
Did not do much else yesterday apart from reading Demon Copperhead, only a few pages left which I hope to finish this morning.
Had a text from the surgery to book a fasting cholesterol blood test, so have arranged one for tomorrow morning. It's at 10.30 am, so my fast starts at 10.30 this evening.

Home-made chilli from the freezer for dinner tonight, probably with a jacket potato.

Disturbed night again with it being very windy.
The forecast is for more rain and wind today, thankfully my roof was intact yesterday when I checked. I do not have a clue what the noise was the previous night.

Overdid housework yesterday and hurt my back. Struggled to walk dgd to school. Should be meeting my Ladies Group for a post Christmas meal tonight after Pilates class but not sure if I can manage either or both. Feeling a tad sorry for myself, must so better.

MrB has been shopping, I don’t think we’ll be going anywhere today so I will potter about and flick a duster in the general direction of the woodwork.

Sincere condolences Kittylester it’s hard to lose those people we have been close to and who have formed our lives.Urmstongran - what can I say? Except take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other . You have skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated people on your side .
Late to the party, apologies if I have not read all your posts, couldn’t sleep so took ibuprofen around 2 and an antihistamine which always works wonders for me- woke up just shy of 9.30. I should know better than to take anything so late - I am still dozy now.

Marydoll I was at the laying of the foundation stone at the church you mention in 1961. I remember every family in the parish had a little box for donations in their home. There was a huge sense of pride that the parish had paid for the new building- no wonder then that the older parishioners are not keen on demolition! When I read your weekly bulletin and see the mass times now compared to when I was a teenager, it’s obvious how much the congregation has shrunk. We used to have 5 masses on a Sunday and 2 hours of confession morning and evening on a Saturday I seem to recall. How times have changed.
Hope the weather improves for you. I saw the Weather report at lunchtime from Glasgow. Judith remarked. ‘things are shoogly due to Isha’😂

Borrheid, the church is so cold that you can see your breath. The temporary heaters are making no difference and the older parishioners are struggling.. Water ingress is a major problem due to the porous brick work. You would be horrified if you saw it now.

The older parishioners may be resisting, but they don't need to deal with the unbelievable stress and constant fire fighting.

I hope you are keeping a bit better.

Marydoll, regarding the lady who addressed you as 'Ma' - I remember that the heroine of The Ladies' Detective Agency was Mma Ramotswe. It's set in Botswana. Could your lady have come from that sort of area?
