Good Morning Everyone,
Dark but its dry here in brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out , seemed fewer people went out due to the forecast .
Today a mid morning appointment for my Diabetic bi annual check c/w blood test which I hope goes well , I will ensure I drink plenty of water prior to getting the bus to the surgery .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a windy Northumberland. Hair appointment at 11am.
Good morning everyone from a bright and dry Northampton, still very windy but should ease during the morning.
Had a day in yesterday due to the rain, two loads of washing done and at last finished Demon Copperhead! A good ending, as in David Copperfield.
Some lighter reading now, as I started Book 3 of the Cazalet Chronicles.
Off out in about an hour to get the bus to the surgery for my fasting blood test, only allowed water this morning. Then may have time to pop into the village teashop for a coffee afterwards before getting the bus home.
Lunch out at the local pub with two friends from my teaching days in the 1970s; looking forward to a couple of hours of good company and chat! Back then we were all young marrieds in our twrnties; now one of us is 80, and the other two are fast approaching it......
Thought with those who have worries.

Take care in this windy weather.
Liberty I was there last Wednesday. I know you’ll enjoy the film. Take tissues! 😢
Good morning Mick and everyone from a still very windy and grey Carlisle. It was wild during the night but not quite as bad as Isha.
I cancelled my trip to Newcastle mostly because of the weather but also because I'm still getting over a kidney infection and the mysterious bug I seem to have picked up on the way home after Christmas.
I will do a bit of bathroom cleaning this morning and probably the ironing also.
I started a new book yesterday, one I picked up in a charity shop. I realised from the first chapter that I'd read it before, but as I don't remember the denouement, I shall carry on. It's only a non-challenging page turner.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Good morning all from the Black country where the wind has dropped and the sun is making a breakthrough.
Mick hope all goes well with your check up.
Condolences to grandMattie 💐.
Possibly a trip into town I have M&S vouchers to spend and I need some new jeans.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry, windy but mild at 11°C. Himself spent yesterday afternoon transferring data from his android smartphone to his new Apple all singing dancing one that came by special delivery. He has great patience and concentration and was cock a hoop when he sorted it all without any help. I was very impressed. I’d have had to go into a store. Mind you I don’t have a smartphone I’m happy with my very basic Nokia. The one our Boy Wonder said “is that a phone grandma?” years ago.
I’m calling it a day for Dry January from Friday. I’ll have done 25 days. Good enough. We have events to celebrate this weekend. As it is I won’t drink while Himself is on the new chemotherapy as I like to be fully compos mentis - whatever that is for me. Upwards and onwards hopefully.
Here’s Matt.
x
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and grey. I have succumbed to the virus which dgs1 has and I feel decidedly ropey. So no going anywhere today for me. Bed beckons.
Good morning from sunny N Bucks. At last I shall be able to plant the snowdrops on DH’s grave, having had to postpone it twice because of frost, ice, wind and rain.
Condolences on losing a good friend Grandmattie it brings it ever closer to home doesn’t it? Hoping there are good memories.
PS I think you’ll be ready to bale out after 4 days holiday with the family - I reckon 3-4 days is my limit!
And to Bonnybanko - yes, sadly once the rest of the world thinks you are coping with your loss, they assume you are “over it”. I try to take the initiative with friends re meeting up but sometimes just feel worn down by the effort.
I thought this pic might amuse those of us who have escaped storm damage- my initial reaction!
With kind thoughts to all who are worried, in pain, or despair.
Oops could one of your group set up a second Sainsbury’s delivery to the holiday venue in their name thereby doubling your groceries for everyone - even a couple of days in so you have fridge space too? Just a thought.
🤔
Late on parade this morning for no good reason other than I must have needed the 😴!
So many posters with sadnesses in their lives at the moment 💐and I know it’s hard when our loved ones aren’t well - I feel helpless that I can’t wish my dad and Mr PG better!
Perhaps I shouldn’t have but Miss Marydoll made me laugh out loud reading about MrMD’s escapism 😂! Good that he wasn’t hurt tho.
That course sounds interesting Ladyleftfieldlover - I’m rekindling my crafty brain at the moment with wedding cards for this year, one in March and another late September - please post pictures of your handiwork!
Now for some pottering in the kitchen….homemade burgers 🍔 and 🍟 for tea 😋 and they won’t make themselves as my mam used to say!
Hugs to all x
Good morning everyone, we’re still in Tenerife and so lucky to be missing the stormy weather back home
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend gMattie 💐
I love that picture Rosies where was it taken please as I’m sure I’ve seen something similar in the past but cant remember!
Good to hear you’re looking forward to your holiday bonnybanko hopefully some new friends will be made that you can share your experiences with
We’re having a restful day today after a couple of long tiring days hiking in northern Tenerife. We’ll probably just wander around some local gardens taking in the view and sitting in the sunshine
Hope you feel better soon grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
All best wishes to Urmstongran and her husband, and to Baggs, and to all others who are facing a challenging time.
Morning Mick and all from a calm S Hants and it’s not raining, which it did all of yesterday.
That means I can tidy up some garden bits, I’ll be clearing clutter from the kitchen table too, which has become a convenient place to leave ‘stuff’. Bedding is washing away, blood test later to check cholesterol and house insurance to sort.
Sorry to hear people are poorly, dispirited or just fed up.

Good morning all from a beautiful - but windy - Costa del Angus. The wind is expected to die back as the day goes on, so the washing is in the machine and will actually be dried outside today.
Yesterday was a particularly good tai chi class, but as predicted I slept most of the afternoon after it! It's not the class that tires me, but I seem increasingly unable to cope with a sleepless night before it ..........
After the class I entirely forgot about the roadworks on the High Street in the town. They seem to sit at Stop for ages, and I had two lots to sit through. Then I discovered that the other end of the High Street had been dug up as well! By the time I got through those lights Jocelyn's rain was torrential and there wasn't a parking space in sight anywhere near the shops I wanted to visit so I gave up and went home! Not the happiest of bunnies.
Grandmattie so sorry to hear about your friend. I have outlived all of mine now - but lots of happy memories.
I'm hoping this lovely sunshine will qprovide me with some oomph to get me going - they both seem to be in short supply these days!
Have a lovely day everyone, and my thoughts as always are with those going through hard times 💐🦩
Late good morning after yet another disturbed night.
Three nights in a row it has been too noisy to sleep properly.
DS is coming after work and will take me shopping but it will be evening by the time he gets here.
Condolences grandMattie on the death of your friend 💐
Take care if you are in the windy zone.
It’s Brighton, Brook
Good morning Mick and all from windy Lancashire, currently 8°C. Hope your review goes well Mick.
Foul weather yesterday kept me indoors and I slept poorly last night thanks to the howling gale. It’s dry now and the wind seems to have dropped, but I don’t think I’ll be going far today. MrB has checked the garden and everything is still in one piece.
I giggled at your DH’s nighttime tumble Marydoll, I have fallen out of bed twice in my sleep so shouldn’t really laugh. The second time it happened I got up off the floor and back into bed somehow without really waking up. In the morning I thought I’d dreamt it until I looked in the mirror and saw blood on my head and a black eye. MrB fitted a bed rail the next day …
Hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty and you are able to rest.
I’m glad you’re enjoying your holiday Brook it sounds idyllic.
Sorry to hear you’ve lost another old friend GrandMattie.
Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of those going through hard times ❤️
Good morning Mick and all from a windy northwest coast. I haven’t put my recycle bin out but can manage for one week.
After hibernating for a couple of days to avoid storms, I’m off to the usual lunchtime concert. It gets depressing staying in.
My sister arrives from the south tomorrow so will make plans for that.
Condolences grandMattie. Four days can be enough In company when you’re used to your own. Something to look forward to!
Thoughts to Urms and all with worries 🌺
A late good morning from very windy North Yorkshire. Our power has just come back on after 12 hours!
Hope you are all having a good day. Will read later.
Good morning from Glasgow. It’s still very stormy here with snatches of blue sky which is little consolation. I noticed this morning an Adirondack chair cover, although firmly anchored under such a heavy chair, is nowhere to be seen so far, wrap up and have a search around the garden in the hope I find it. The other chair is still covered.
Another niggle yesterday was a power cut but our lovely electrician arrived to solve the problem and we were quickly returned to a house with electricity and heating.
Sorry to read the sad news of losing another friend GM..
Kind thoughts to our dear friends on here who are struggling through sad and difficult times💐
Thanks Rosies I’ve not seen it in Brighton so I must be thinking of something else 🤷♀️

A sad day on this thread today. Condolences to those who have lost friends and warm thoughts and prayers to those who are in need. If I name names, I am sure to miss someone!
Urms yes we are going to do that, although I’ve trimmed my list down a bit, I was overthinking it and buying as though we were at home in the middle of nowhere, we are actually all going to Lyme Regis which has nice shops!! And a supermarket somewhere I assume, which will be a lovely change and easy to pop into town and buy or go out to eat, depending on how many of us there are at any given time.
