I have a special room…do you?

Yes, it’s a bathroom with a lock on the door.
No one can get me in there!

Sadly still getting used to having the whole house since last March.

I have a craft room, which also houses my PC. I like the peace and quiet, when I have parish admin to do.
DH also has a study, which houses his PC and hobby stuff. We used to share a PC, but as soon as my last child left home, I claimed the smallest bedroom.

My home is my oyster, plenty of room for just me. There is a large spare bedroom filled with storage stuff which belongs to my sons. I choose to sleep in a very small bedroom as I like small spaces. There is another small spare room which now houses my freezer and tinned food and spare wardrobe.
So you can see that there is no space for a hobbies room.
I would quite like a walking machine but don't know where it could live.

karmalady those peg boards look fabulous, but a bit beyond me in price at the moment. Maybe I'll treat myself when I have a bit more to spare

I use some bobbin holders that I bought on Amazon, along with little clips that stop the bobbins unwinding and tangling. Very useful as before that I was forever searching through stacks of tangled bobbins for the right one!

What prompted me to ask the question was watching YouTube videos where people are filming from their painting studios, craft/sewing rooms, or home gyms. I always thought we’re very fortunate to have our games room, but recently have come to realise that many other people have a dedicated room for their interests.

We have the smallest bedroom/office which a few years ago was my crafting/family history space but it is now full of my late Mum’s bits and pieces plus stuff belonging to son who moved back home.

I do have the summerhouse in the warmer months and I love being out there reading, listening to the radio, crocheting etc. it gets the sun from late morning until it goes down.

I'm with pascal. I live alone my bungalow is my craft space and my library.

I live alone so my whole house is my studio.. art work everywhere..

No special rooms here.
My favourite room is the conservatory attached to the kitchen.

I keep feet in a storage tray with lid with divided areas, every area numbered and a list on the lid

I spend a lot of time in our upstairs study but that's because I work from home. On the upside though, it's a room with charm & a lovely outlook & once I retire (not long now!) could well become my special room

AskAlice, these are my pegboards, much more expensive than ikea but if I ever move they will come with me. I cut some dowels myself, made them longer so that the bigger cones for an overlocker will stay on. I have some of the shelves too, very useful. I have a large pegboard on either side of the window

plus I had one in their sale that has 2 wide shelves above my desk, I keep files on that, sewing machine oils, a small clock (because I get carried away) radio etc. I turned the ordinary old fashioned heavy computer desk on its side and cut the feet off and I removed the keyboard tray. Nice to sit at for sewing now, the right height

Sounds great but no, I don't have such a thing. The closest I get to a 'special room' is the small second bedroom (there are only two) which is the only space in the house that I can pretend is my own, but I would gladly sacrifice that in exchange for a downstairs room big enough to host our two sons, their wives and our four dgc all at the same time.

I have had the smallest bedroom fitted with a desk unit and shelving and it is my study; it still holds a single bed.
I don’t know what I am going to do with DH’s study when it is eventually clear. I don’t really need a spare bedroom as I can sleep in my study and give visitors my room, but I probably will move my single bed into it.
There is also a room downstairs which I need to think about. It is still full of boxes being sorted but it has a z bed which hasn’t been used for years and I might get rid of it. The room is behind the garage and is the only way to access the garden, so I have to keep a clear “ corridor”. There is a loo and shower just off it. It has a sliding patio door and is chilly in winter but hot in summer heatwaves. I am open to ideas.

May be best not to answer that. Could be too outing.

Our smallest bedroom is a study which I use quite a lot. We also have a garden room which we enjoy sitting in with a cuppa and a good book.

Not really, MrJ leaves the ironing board up in one of the spare bedrooms as he ironing monitor.

No. Not even any spare bedrooms any longer.
Ever expanding family who visit regularly.

I have a craft room. It’s so nice to be able to leave every out for whichever projection am working on.
I have a cube unit with baskets in that contain all the materials for the various crafts that I enjoy.
The room has folding doors into the lounge so I can be on my own or open them up and still be with DH .

karmalady, which peg boards do you use? I'd like some on the wall with little boxes for things like my presser feet, spare bobbin holders, needles etc. At the moment they are in the craft drawers and a bit awkward to get to easily. I have a wooden holder mounted on the wall for my threads.

For when I’m in the mood for cooking/baking/preserving, I use the kitchen!

Reading can be done in sitting room, conservatory or summer house depending on weather.

I make cards/crafts in spare room and sew in the conservatory.

📺 only in the sitting room as Mr PG maintains ‘there are only two things to be done in the bedroom and you don’t need eyes open for either’!

No special room although we have a large house with rooms enough if I wanted one. I write and use one end of the dining table. I would hate to be shut away from DH and visitors, though I can understand some people need solitude

Our smallest bedroom is now my sewing room. One wall has cube storage from floor to about 6ft high for fabric (my mini-Sewing Bee homage!), my folding cutting table is in front of the window and the sewing table along the wall opposite the fabric wall. There is also a storage unit with drawers for the GC's craft stuff. I spend many happy hours up there listening to Boom Radio while I sew. I just wish it was a bit bigger...

Gosh what a very strange post. I don't have a gym at home.
I suppose there's the back bedroom which is a glorified cupboard, housing the ironing board.
