I have a special room…do you?

we have a gym in what was a spare bedroom downstairs.My son had it when he was in his teens and shedloads of boys would almost live in it with computer games,music etc ,then he had it as a bedroom when he met his current partner before they decided it was serious enough to get a place of their own.I have a multi gym,rowing machine,vibration plate m/c ,Pilates reformer,and a variety of smaller implements of torture including free weights,
I lock myself in with loud music most days for an hour or more and try to keep myself in shape .It has an en suite so its very convenient .I would never make to a gym if it wasn't onsite....never find the time.

Our current games room is where our older son’s band used to practice - and our neighbours at the time, who were in their 90s, used to live listening to them play.

(Their vocalist became a professional singer - our son is an accountant. 😄)

No, I don’t need one. We have a study which my husband uses far more than I do. My indoor hobbies are computer- and book-based and I really prefer working at the kitchen table. For outside, there’s the shed! My husband also spends quite a bit of time in the garage/workshop - each to their own!

I read. A lot. I only need a chair, anywhere - not a whole room.

I have a chair too, urms. I if want some head space that's where I go.

It's in our bedroom tucked under the eaves.

My interests are not particularly home based so I don't need a room as such.

I have the smallest bedroom as a sewing room and have made the most of the limited space, however I fantasize about taking over the largest. At almost 20 feet long I could have a wall of storage, a cutting table, sewing table and a quilt block 'layout' wall. There would also certainly be a coffee machine and and a huge comfy armchair. Ah well I can always dream......

I have a room downstairs where I store my books, computer, exercise bike, weights and TV where I can go and chill. I only use it in the daytime if I feel the need for space.

I live on my own, so no privacy or ‘special room’ issue.

We’ve got what we call the family room, which used to be a playroom for my children when they were younger, and which now houses a big TV, dartboard, pool table and exercise bike. It’s now mainly my son’s retreat room, which leaves the sitting room for me. It suits us both because he’s a big sports fan, and watches darts, golf etc. whereas I like my peace and quiet.

I have a dedicated sewing room with several pegboards to hold yarn cones etc. A cut-down slightly lowered, desk and a foldaway horn table. I have three beautiful useful machines in there as well as a large ironing board and steam generator iron. It is my happy place and the reason I bought a 4 bedroomed new build

The smallest bedroom has a special healing mat on a spare bed as well as a very comfy arm chair, a low window facing out over various higgeldy old gardens. A special ambience in that room

Gosh what a very strange post. I don't have a gym at home.
I suppose there's the back bedroom which is a glorified cupboard, housing the ironing board.

Our smallest bedroom is now my sewing room. One wall has cube storage from floor to about 6ft high for fabric (my mini-Sewing Bee homage!), my folding cutting table is in front of the window and the sewing table along the wall opposite the fabric wall. There is also a storage unit with drawers for the GC's craft stuff. I spend many happy hours up there listening to Boom Radio while I sew. I just wish it was a bit bigger...

No special room although we have a large house with rooms enough if I wanted one. I write and use one end of the dining table. I would hate to be shut away from DH and visitors, though I can understand some people need solitude

For when I’m in the mood for cooking/baking/preserving, I use the kitchen!

Reading can be done in sitting room, conservatory or summer house depending on weather.

I make cards/crafts in spare room and sew in the conservatory.

📺 only in the sitting room as Mr PG maintains ‘there are only two things to be done in the bedroom and you don’t need eyes open for either’!

karmalady, which peg boards do you use? I'd like some on the wall with little boxes for things like my presser feet, spare bobbin holders, needles etc. At the moment they are in the craft drawers and a bit awkward to get to easily. I have a wooden holder mounted on the wall for my threads.

I have a craft room. It’s so nice to be able to leave every out for whichever projection am working on.
I have a cube unit with baskets in that contain all the materials for the various crafts that I enjoy.
The room has folding doors into the lounge so I can be on my own or open them up and still be with DH .

No. Not even any spare bedrooms any longer.
Ever expanding family who visit regularly.

Not really, MrJ leaves the ironing board up in one of the spare bedrooms as he ironing monitor.

May be best not to answer that. Could be too outing.

I have had the smallest bedroom fitted with a desk unit and shelving and it is my study; it still holds a single bed.
I don’t know what I am going to do with DH’s study when it is eventually clear. I don’t really need a spare bedroom as I can sleep in my study and give visitors my room, but I probably will move my single bed into it.
There is also a room downstairs which I need to think about. It is still full of boxes being sorted but it has a z bed which hasn’t been used for years and I might get rid of it. The room is behind the garage and is the only way to access the garden, so I have to keep a clear “ corridor”. There is a loo and shower just off it. It has a sliding patio door and is chilly in winter but hot in summer heatwaves. I am open to ideas.

Sounds great but no, I don't have such a thing. The closest I get to a 'special room' is the small second bedroom (there are only two) which is the only space in the house that I can pretend is my own, but I would gladly sacrifice that in exchange for a downstairs room big enough to host our two sons, their wives and our four dgc all at the same time.
