Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and dry. GrandMattie your vicar is taking liberties! I'm sure he's just got carried away with the success of the Burns Night, but still. Ash I'm glad you had a good time. It sounds like a lovely concert. Whitewave that lady sounds like hard work! Susan have a peaceful afternoon.
Yesterday was shopping, washing and housework day. Dd didn't bring round one of the boys, they both went to other gran. At first I was disappointed but I slept for two hours in the afternoon, so it was for the best. This virus has taken more out of me than I realised. My aunt sent a film of uncle walking unaided which is such good news. I collected more stuff to go to charity as well.
Today I'll make lentil soup and roast a chicken. I'll do a little ironing too. I'll visit mum later. Have a good day all

GM, St Patrick's day usually falls during Lent and it's not unusual, as Stilllearning says, to also celebrate it in our parish. Many of our parishioners ( myself included) have Irish heritage.

I have heard from Grammaretto, she sends her best wishes to all. The time difference and the fact she lost her phone somewhere on her outward journey, makes it difficult to post.

Nothing planned for today, yesterday was spent lying down, in the hope the nausea and vertigo would settle down. No cooking today, (I have put my foot down) we are having takeaway.
I intend to chill and will take each hour as it comes. It's useless making plans.

Cloudy but distinctly warmer this morning. Church in the smallest of our four Benefice churches the only planned event but am grateful that the electrician did such a good job yesterday; because he took cable through the cupboards I had to reorganise and clean them beforehand so am distinctly smug. Just wish the rest of the house was in such good order.

Good morning everyone from sunny Tenerife, the weather here in the north of the island is much sunnier and warmer than I’d thought, I was expecting cloudy and cooler but it’s not

We’re going down into Puerto de la Cruz today, an easy 10 min bus ride. It’s a lot busier there with lots of holiday makers but the town is nice and still has a bit of a Spanish feel to it. There’s lots of lovely cafes along the seafront so we’ll just sit and people watch and then meander for a bit

Good morning from a cloudy & cool Sefton. Sunny periods forecast for today. Yesterday's 'sunny periods' turned out to be cloudy with cloudier periods. I don't hold out much hope for today.
Yesterday's visit to our local seaside town was partially successful but we were sorry to see how down at heel it is looking. More & more closed shops making a once busy & attractive main street look quite sad.
Our elder GD is being dropped off late morning whilst her mum & dad have a posh lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant. We are lucky enough to have 2 such restaurants on our doorstep. That will take care of today. We will collapse in a heap when she's gone - she is very 5 & very 'lively'.

My garden birdwatch was not very productive, two robins though along with the wood pigeons.
We’re meeting up with my son and his partner later, not seen them for about three weeks, a walk and slow roasted chicken for dinner.

Thank you for your comments re. St.Patrick’s Day. My objection was not so much that it was during Lent, though I used that as an excuse, but that it gave very little preparation time. He’s never had a Burns Night, nor a St. Patrick festivity…

Good morning Mick and everyone from a brightish Carlisle where the sun might or might not come out eventually.

It was a pleasant day yesterday in spite of a rather chilly wind. I went into town to pick up yet another prescription, walked through M&S trying not to look too closely at sweaters and then drove round to pick up some items from Sainsbury's. I had a delivery from Tesco last Thursday but they can never supply everything I need. Then it was home for a long phone chat with my sister.
I was in the garden after lunch, I had more snowdrops to plant, this time double ones and in the border so much easier to get in the ground. I also started some trimming back and moved a shrub which was getting crowded out by a very vigorous shrub rose.
My Remoska gave up the ghost on Friday so I ordered a new one first thing yesterday. I use it most days and last night had to use an oven, which I rarely do. Can't wait till the new one arrives...
Today, not much in the activity department but I ought to go for a walk at some point, Christmas delights have built up around my waistline...

Good morning from a cloudy but mild Black Country.

Had an unexpected message from my friend yesterday asking if I would like to go with her to Worcester to the Webbs Garden Centre there. She wanted to go to Lakeland concession inside. I bought a gadget that enables you to grill and toast inside the microwave. Tried a toasted sandwich last night, it worked beautifully, with 20% off with friends voucher.

Today I am off to DD's and go shopping with them as DGD4 needs new shoes. MrJ is back today around 5pm.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, 6°C out and sun forecast all day.

A good day at the rugby yesterday; despite missing 7 team players away on international duty, we managed to overcome Newcastle 38-13. Was quite pleasant sitting in the sun, the weather was perfect, and I enjoyed a glass of red wine. My bereaved neighbour was in his usual rugby form; think it did him good, but I expect he felt it when he got back to an empty house.

Out for lunch today to a country pub I've not been to before. It is DSon-in-law's 50th birthday so will have a nice family celebration. No cooking for me tonight! There is roast pork on the menu and I feel quite tempted....

Good morning all from the Angus coast. We're forecast a brisk wind and sunny intervals with a high of 10° today. Well, the birds are flying every which way but forward so they got the wind bit right, but the sunny periods must be far off because all I can see is a thick grey blanket of cloud!
I had a lovely lunch and natter with my niece yesterday - there was so much catching up to do! And my hairdresser managed not to cut my hair too short, so that was good too.
It's lovely to see that January is almost over. I agree with you RosesandLilac, I definitely feel that Spring is springing - a definite je ne sais quoi in the air. I'm sure February will have something up its sleeve, but at least it's a short month, and it's staying light for so much longer now.
Ladyleftfield how I envy your DD - Malaysia is my favourite place on earth! I hope she has a wonderful time.

Good morning from Glasgow. It’s damp and windy at the moment with strong gusts of wind to follow. If the forecast is right, this will be our weather for the week!

Yesterday was a bit of a non starter after a broken sleep. No plans for today just doing this and that. I need a project for indoors before I go stir crazy. I desperately miss being in the garden, getting out of the house to potter about at my own pace. Hey ho.

Good morning Mickand all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 7°C. Disappointing blood test result Mick, but hopefully the next one will be clear.

I am feeling nuch better this morning, thank you all for your good wishes. I slept like a log, no nocturnal bathroom visits, my temperature has dropped and my gut is behaving itself. I didn’t eat, wasn’t feeling like eating any way, just drank lots of water. I’ll be having a lazy day today, MrB is making some porridge for brunch so hopefully that will stay down. He has a knack for making lovely creamy porridge. My treacherous tum is now rumbling away, demanding food.

I think you did well to deflect on the St. Patrick’s day party Grandmattie! You do such a lot for others but you also need time to draw breath and look after yourself.

Sounds like you’re having a good time with the family Oops, perhaps a treasure hunt for the missing key might be in order today! I sympathise with MissOops, I am world class at putting things down and losing them. Like her I know they are in the house “somewhere” .

I’m glad your little grandson is responding to treatment Bellasnana and you enjoyed some time with family and friends.

Hope you have a restful day too Marydoll, vertigo is a total pain in the proverbial! Do you find yourself clinging on to the furniture when moving around the house, like I do at times? Good to know Grammaretto is having a good time.

Try to rest a little today if you can Kalu, as Taichinan says spring is on the way and the days are getting longer. I too hate being stuck indoors but it won’t last .
