Good Morning Monday 29th January 2024

Marydoll: when DH and I were first together, he was adamant that cruising was not for him. I accepted that, partly as I’d already enjoyed several cruises.

A few years later, I spotted an advertisement for a good deal on a Christmas Markets cruise with Fred Olsen which I fancied. When I suggested I might go with a couple of friends or even alone, he decided he'd give it a try, partly as he wanted to see the Kiel Canal.

In the event, it was shrouded in fog, but he was hooked! In May, we are taking our fifth cruise together which includes Belfast and the Scottish coast. We always go with Olsen as we like smaller vessels and the friendly but professional service.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve overslept so I’m still in bed!
OH and I are having lunch with some old friends about an hour away. Actually OH has known them for many years since he was working overseas.
I might do a Waitrose shop afterwards.

Good morning from a dry and dull Suffolk after a beahutiful sunny day yesterday when we enjoyed a walk with the little dog on the Common and coffee and cake sitting outside in the sunshine.

I had forgotten how very busy the rugby club which adjoins the Common is with juniors in their dozens playing matches on several fields with masses of parents cheering them on. Our DS used to go over 30 years ago and it was a regular part of the family’s weekend.

I have a day’s meeting on Wednesday and have lots of reading to do before them so will make a start on the papers later.

Good morning from a damp & dismal Sefton. Rain forecast all day but it does feel milder & the wind has dropped.
We had a lovely time yesterday with our GD whilst her mum & dad went out for lunch. They don't get much free time together. Fell asleep on the sofa after they'd all gone home. Child care is tiring when you're older grandparents. Singing this morning then I may indulge in the last 2 episodes of Kin this afternoon. I still find watching tv/cinema in daylight hours rather 'decadent' when I should be doing something useful.
We have just booked our first cruise Pantglas. - just 5 nights up to the fjords. Looks like a few of us will be interested in your first cruise 'experience'.

Good morning all from a clear, windy and cold day here on the east coast of Fife. I had a fab day yesterday I was given a luxury afternoon tea voucher which was delivered to my home my school chum was invited to join me along with my sister .
My daughter bought me this for my Christmas it was delicious.
I’m off visiting my sister in law today she’s in a nursing home with dementia.sadly she doesn’t remember me.

Good morning from Durham, cold and wet with rain forecast all day. My friend can’t meet for coffee this morning, but I need a birthday gift, so I’ll get that and have a coffee on my own - I’ve a reward at Costa. DD2 is still laid up with a slipped disc, so I’ll ask if she needs help later, otherwise more decluttering. The monks bench is full of every birthday, fathers/mothers day cards DH and I have ever received - hundreds of them!

Good morning from a very Misty Lyme Regis, not sure how cold it is but I think our beach visit might wait until later MzOops swim can also wait ( I know)
Yesterday was brilliant, kids played football in the garden with their dads, ACs were chatting and drinking, little tot was collecting pine cones. Dog ( who basically hates other people) was a changed dog, meek and just pottered around. A very good day, age range 82 down to 2. But very tiring.
I haven’t read any posts yet as I’ve just got up and no one else has come downstairs yet so the kettle is on.
Keys were found in the box of dog biscuits.( I know. Don’t ask.)

Good the keys turned up Oops, obviously a ‘safe place’.
We’ve had two cruises Pantglas and enjoyed them, I hope you do too.
Today is voluntary phone and quiz tonight with a walk at some point, I’ve also got to clear up some plants I pulled out yesterday.

Good morning from Shropshire where rain is forecast all day.

We took the children home yesterday afternoon.DD had made a roast dinner for us all which was delicious.When we got home we filled in the calendar for February and March.We have several invites and a couple of weekends away as well as childcare arrangements so I wanted to make sure we have enough down time before I book anything else in.Our calendar for the next couple of months looks like it did pre covid while we have got used to a much slower pace of life.

I was meant to meet a friend for lunch today but we have postponed for a couple of weeks so instead a day at home working through my to do list.

Good morning from N Bucks where it seems mild and fair, but overcast.
Lovely day with the London family yesterday - the boys are very sweet, littlest ( 2 1/2) quite a little character, his older bro (5 in March) thoughtful and observant. D thought it hilarious to be refused service when she tried to buy a bottle of wine for me on their way on the grounds that she didn’t have ID. They similarly refused to serve SIL (despite his greying beard) because he was clearly buying on her behalf.
She is FORTY TWO ! (SIL 45 )
The assistant claimed it was because “she looked under 25” - flattering?
I said she needs to bottle whatever her secret of eternal youth is and make her fortune!
(They do automatically do a visual check at Waitrose when I do my “scan as you go” shopping but I sometimes think that’s to check I’m not too gaga for my packet of paracetamol and bottle of mother’s ruin)

Slept until 10.45 yesterday and didn't make the good morning thread. Spent the whole day lounging around and reading my book, the intention was to make soup but I really couldn't be bothered. I still have a headache from hitting my head the other night.
I do hope you enjoy your cruise Pantglass, I don't like the sea and DH, as a naval architect, would not spend his holiday on a ship so no experience.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning from a drizzly East Midlands. It’s a week today since the hysterectomy and it is a slow road. Taking each day as it comes. So tired last night yet I didn’t sleep too good as I just couldn’t get comfy. Stay safe and well today. Hugs to all who are either ill or low on mood.

A quick good morning from not windy thank goodness, South Lanarkshire. Chair yoga this morning, a little shop and then straight over to G in time to pick up DGS from school. He was in a competition dance team yesterday so I’ll hear how that went, it was in St Andrew’s and lasted all day, goodness knows when they got home last night. I have to say I think they’re mad.

Harrigran, I did exactly the same as you a few months ago, I was so angry at myself for not switching on the light! The cracker of a bruise lasted for days🥺

I’ve only been on two cruises, both Fred Olsen and I did enjoy them both very much Pantglas. A two week one to Russia and the same one as you I suspect, to Norway, it was beautiful.

Good morning Mickand all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 8°C and raining. Disappointing blood test result Mick, but hopefully the next one will be clear.

Yesterday was a quiet day at home. I managed to eat and my tum behaved itself. I slept well and feeling better now. Nothing much planned for today, I need to order my repeat prescription via the NHS app.

Glad the keys turned up Oops.

Good morning all. I feel like the White Rabbit - "I'm late, I'm late". I've had my 7 hours' sleep, but as I didn't fall asleep til after 3am it's made for a very late start! However the washing's in the machine and will soon be ready to hang out. It's a very still day so I don't expect there'll be much drying, but it's nice to get it out. So a start to the day has been made.
A lovely lunch with friends yesterday - a good meal and three hours' of non-stop and laughter. There was a Wedding Fayre in the hotel so we popped in there before we left and I picked up the business card of a Humanist Celebrant with my funeral in mind you understand.
Today no such jollity. It's going to be a busy week so busy, busy, busy. Sorry I haven't read any posts yet - that will be my lunchtime treat - but I hope all is well with everybody. My caring thoughts to all in distress or ill health x
