I am shocked and dismayed that the lovely, kind, gentle, quiet and caring Paul O’Grady is being replaced with……..
Alison big gob shouty Hammond!

She will scare every nervous dog in range of her loud voice and exaggerated arm movements. She is a physically large woman who will overwhelm most dogs.

Why couldn’t the Tv company find someone more suitable, perhaps someone younger and gentler and not so well known. Give someone else a chance. AH is absolutely everywhere at the moment and she’s already ruined bake off for me. Not a fan at all (don’t know why you’d think that 🤣).

Who do you think would be good?

I already started a thread about this a little earlier Whethertomorrow Alison Hammond is just flavour of the month. Paul O'Grady had a genuine love of animals.

Bridie22 Tue 30-Jan-24 19:35:16

She is brave stepping into Pauls shoes, he will be a hard act to follow.

This really annoys me. Picking people to present subjects to which they have no connection whatsoever. To my knowledge Alison Hammond has no special interest in animals or animal charities. She therefore has little to no knowledge to say nothing of passion for the subject. It makes the whole thing a nonsense.

I might as well present a programme on nuclear physics. I only achieved a Grade C in maths but hey who cares. I'll wear a colourful jumpsuit and do a lot of unnecessary giggling.

A minute of Alison Hammond and you'd have to sedate my dogs .
We've always been very quietly spoken in our house and that's what our dogs were used to !

Lucyd Tue 30-Jan-24 20:38:42

Martin Clunes gets my vote - with Robson Green also a favourite.

MissAdventure Tue 30-Jan-24 20:41:46

I second Martin Clunes, and I know without doubt that he is a huge fan of dogs.

People seem to like Steven Fry, so maybe him, but he isnt my cup of tea at all.

Joseann Tue 30-Jan-24 20:45:56

John Nettles, (Bergerac), though he's probably a bit too old now! So otherwise, Dan Walker.

rafichagran Tue 30-Jan-24 20:47:17

I dont mind Alison at all, but I find the OP offensive referring to her as Alison big gob Hammond, everyone has a opinion who they would like yo present the programne but let's not resort to this childish name calling.

👏 👏 👏

Totally agree 👏👏👏

How about Julian Clary?
He is a gentle sort, plus his act featured Fanny the wonder dog, years ago.

Anniebach Tue 30-Jan-24 21:09:19

It needs to be someone who loves dogs not someone who is on screen to introduce

MissAdventure Tue 30-Jan-24 21:13:18

Yes, it came across from Paul that he loved all animals.
He was a lovely man, I reckon.

Callistemon21 Tue 30-Jan-24 21:19:06

The best thing about Paul's presentation style was that he made the dogs and cats the stars of the show, not himself.

Anniebach Tue 30-Jan-24 21:29:56

Definitely Callistemon

JaneJudge Tue 30-Jan-24 21:30:12

Does she not love dogs?

woodenspoon Tue 30-Jan-24 21:42:00

Helen Skelton maybe? She genuinely loves animals. I am another who thinks Alison Hammond is an unlikely fit but itv seem determined to thrust her at us as much as they can.

Callistemon21 Tue 30-Jan-24 21:44:26

JaneJudge

Does she not love dogs?

Well, during a serious discussion with a vet about a new illness affecting dogs she mentioned her friend's dog got blown over by the wind 🤔

Joseann Tue 30-Jan-24 21:47:12

What? He got blown over while farting?

Shinamae Tue 30-Jan-24 21:50:18

Maybe it was black over Bills Mothers

MissAdventure Tue 30-Jan-24 21:52:18

Hopefully with enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers, though. 🙂

Or raining cats and dogs .........

LadyGracie Wed 31-Jan-24 08:58:43

I can't stand Jonathan Ross but he's a definite dog lover, I think we'd see a different side of him if he was to present the programme.

Alison Hammond - no, she's too loud, I agree with the OP.
