I am shocked and dismayed that the lovely, kind, gentle, quiet and caring Paul O’Grady is being replaced with……..
Alison big gob shouty Hammond!

She will scare every nervous dog in range of her loud voice and exaggerated arm movements. She is a physically large woman who will overwhelm most dogs.

Why couldn’t the Tv company find someone more suitable, perhaps someone younger and gentler and not so well known. Give someone else a chance. AH is absolutely everywhere at the moment and she’s already ruined bake off for me. Not a fan at all (don’t know why you’d think that 🤣).

Who do you think would be good?

I dont mind Alison at all, but I find the OP offensive referring to her as Alison big gob Hammond, everyone has a opinion who they would like yo present the programne but let's not resort to this childish name calling.

Perhaps the OP always uses the language of the playground.

The producers should carefully consider who will replace Paul he would sit on the floor and engage with the animals. He genuinely cared for their welfare his love for each one was obvious.

no one could match paul o'grady's natural manner..

anyone else would play to the camera which would be their remit.

maybe martin clunes

I think itv must have given Alison Hammond a huge new contract and therefore theyve got to get their moneys worth by shoving her into programmes regardless of whether she is suitable or not. In this case, I don’t think she is.

I am a believer in giving people a chance. Therefore will wait for two or three episodes to air before deciding. She may surprise all the doubters or not.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Jan-24 18:21:55

I won't watch it, now, probably.

merlotgran Wed 31-Jan-24 18:48:27

Does anyone know if Alison Hammond has a dog(s)?

Kate1949 Wed 31-Jan-24 18:56:21

She said on This Morning recently that she doesn't have a dog.

Kim19 Wed 31-Jan-24 19:06:01

I think we were talking about over exposure of certain presenters on another thread lately. Alison Hammond was certainly mentioned.

Witzend Wed 31-Jan-24 19:16:47

Ditto to Martin Clunes.

All the more reason for me not to watch it then!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear

I used to love that programme. No-one can replace Paul, he had such empathy with the dogs, but surely they could find someone who is a doggy person?

She said on This Morning recently that she doesn't have a dog.

So wouldn't it make a lovely story if she became smitten with a doggie and took it home for keeps?

She may love dogs but the hours she works wouldn't be kind to one.

Desdemona Thu 01-Feb-24 09:14:19

Tom Hardy loves dogs. smile

Callistemon21 Thu 01-Feb-24 11:10:24

I suppose it's too late now, decision made.

She might be very good. 🤔

I am disappointed that Alison Hammond seems to be the flavour of the year! I think Martin Clunes would have been the best choice. At one time it was rumoured that it was going to be Amanda Holden. Paul O”Grady’s was such a wonderful person. I have knitted over 100 dog/cat blankets for Battersea over the years and I just love the place. I feel sad knowing that gob s** will be doing the job.

Callistemon21 Thu 01-Feb-24 11:30:28

I think Amansa Holden and Alsn Carr together would have made a great team.
Both love dogs and cats and Amanda has been a supporter of Battersea for many years.
Alan has a rescue dog.

Excuse typos!

Lesley60 Thu 01-Feb-24 11:35:13

I agree with everything you said about AH except for the comment about her physicality, dogs like people of all dress sizes.
I personally can’t watch anything she is in because of her overpowering voice and loud false laugh, I agree she is on TV far to much and I just can’t see where her talent lies.

Primrose53 Thu 01-Feb-24 12:40:26

I think the prog needs a person who is a dog lover but not constantly on TV like some mentioned on here, eg A Hammond and M Clunes or C Balding.

Just watched Countdown and I really like Colin Murray .
He comes across as warm , friendly and modest .
I'd watch any programme presented by him .
I no longer enjoy University Challenge , because I find Amol Rajan arrogant .

sodapop Fri 02-Feb-24 09:08:42

Doesn't augur well when A. Hammond ran screaming from some cows on Clarksons show. Or so it was reported.

Anniebach Fri 02-Feb-24 10:03:42

I just put her itv programme on , another giggler

MissAdventure Fri 02-Feb-24 10:28:44

She isnt my cup of tea.
Nothing is that hilarious.
