I am shocked and dismayed that the lovely, kind, gentle, quiet and caring Paul O’Grady is being replaced with……..
Alison big gob shouty Hammond!

She will scare every nervous dog in range of her loud voice and exaggerated arm movements. She is a physically large woman who will overwhelm most dogs.

Why couldn’t the Tv company find someone more suitable, perhaps someone younger and gentler and not so well known. Give someone else a chance. AH is absolutely everywhere at the moment and she’s already ruined bake off for me. Not a fan at all (don’t know why you’d think that 🤣).

Who do you think would be good?

GSH - if you've managed to not see Alison Hammond, that's an incredible feat, as she's been on almost everything bar the weather forecast. Just open a window, you should be able to hear her dulcet Brummy tones . . . .

For Jane & Granny -- sure, Alison is a real 'Marmite' figure. Viewers love her enthusiasm, and that big laugh. At least, a subset do, many others find her loud (that's REALLY LOUD!) and obnoxious. As soon as she was announced, several F'book threads lit up with YESSSS and NOOOOO comments. Hopefully the Battersea staff will tone her down somewhat, but I did see comments suggesting that as she won't be a Size 8 again anytime soon, those cubicles could be a bit crowded with her, dog, and someone pointing a camera?

I think anyone who gets the job has such a hard act to follow. The programme was a favourite of my Staffy Daisy since she was a puppy (she’s now 13) - she knew Paul’s voice, he was her favourite person on tv. I wish Alison all the very best, she should just relax and try not to be too over the top, that wouldn’t go down well with the dogs I’d think.

I don't like AH, but I do think the criticism of the language used on this thread is totally unfounded. I'm sure if you said she had a" big gob" Alison would be the first person to agree with you.

Alison seems nice enough. I just wish else's she would speak properly. She was interviewing someone yesterday and she said 'You was an adult at the time wasn't ya?'. It makes me cringe. We don't all speak like that in Brum!

I don't know where else's came from!
