Im curious if any one you still carry on routines that your were brought up on , that your mom and dad used to do, like washing on Mondays etc.
l hadnt realised till today how much l still follow routines my mom used to do in the 50's. It was always wash on mondays, iron on tuesdays, de -clean l room on wednesday, market on thurdays, bathnight and change bedding on Fridays, buthcer shop for weekly joint on Saturdays, dads garden day Sundays while mom cooked a large roast dinner with old time songs playing on the radio. We always had a old fashioned high tea on Sundays in the back best room that always had a blazing coal fire there in the winter. My husband remembers his mom always baked a coconut cake on sundays for tea with chhese sandwiches & blamange and jelly ..l cant find blamange on sale any where now a days
iv only just realise how much l still follow those routines except we put washing on every other day and l dont iron as all our clothes l make sure are non iron.
My husband says his moms market day was saturdays and he remembers how they loved it when she got home as she bought fresh baked cob loafs and the kids had the joy of thick buttered bread with there salad tea. We had a local baker come every mid week with a large basket tray where mom would choice which bread, buns etc she wanted. We kids would argue over who would get the top of the cottage loaf.( again l cant find cottage loaves for sale anywhere
wish we still had bakers who delivered !!
