That sounds hopeful news, Blossoming. 🤞 that the meds help.
I hope all the happy travellers are having a good time. 🧳 🏖️ 🏔️
Hope you’ve had a nice evening, Jax.
Are you enjoying that nice new carpet, Cornergran? I can’t wait to have proper flooring again instead of concrete!
Mmm to honey cake, Topsy. 🍰
Russian Blues have unusual coats, Granmarie. They have no guard hairs so their fur feels like plushy velvet. I tell them that if they’re naughty I’ll have them made into cosy gloves for winter! 😆
Hope your back is improved soon, Grannygravy.

We had glorious sunshine today! I hung a full wash out and it all dried. I didn’t get time for gardening, though, as I went to a friend’s for coffee and a catch up. I was there for three hours but we could have carried on talking for another three hours, I’m sure. blush

Dh has adjusted the hinges on our bedroom so hopefully those kittens can’t get into our room anymore. It’s funny, all the years we’ve had cats but I’ve never liked them in bedrooms. It just doesn’t seem right to me, I don’t know why.

And speaking of felines, ours saw their first bumble bee today. They were indoors while Mr Bee was busy on my pansies outside but they were entranced by him, gazing through the glass as he ambled around between the flowers.

It’s currently raining quite heavily, which is annoying as our fences are supposed to be painted tomorrow. Not sure if that will go ahead now. The morning will tell, I guess.

Night night, all. 😴 xxx

Grannmarie Mon 18-Mar-24 22:26:38

What a worrying time you've had, Blossoming. Hopefully now MrB has been diagnosed and is getting medication, you'll be able to rest easier.
You too, Urms, it's wonderful that Himself feels well enough to wave you off to your happy place. Remember, you keep hoping and I'll keep praying.

Night night, SueD, crossed posts.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Mar-24 22:34:13

Evening all from my bed.
A fairly quiet day apart from the weekly shop at Waitrose.
OH went to visit his bees in their new venue. He said they were fine and eating the fondant he put out for them.
I spent the afternoon finishing a book called ‘Cloistered’ by Catherine Coldstream, about her life as a nun for 12 years. I used to know her years ago when she was a student at the Oxford college where I was the Academic Administrator. A beautifully written and excellent book.
OH and I watched the fourth Matrix film tonight. Utterly befuddling but worth it.
Love to the Soops.
Good to hear from Urms. 😎
Blossoming - that’s all good news.

Grandmabatty Tue 19-Mar-24 06:30:47

Blossoming I am very glad your DH hasn't had a stroke. That must have been very worrying for you. Suedonim your kittens sound adorable. Ladyleftfieldlover I wasn't aware that there was a fourth Matrix film! One to look for, I think.

Yiayia4 Tue 19-Mar-24 08:43:48

That’s much better news for you both Blossoming, may it continue.
Beautiful kittens SueD.
Your poor friend Grannmarie. It brings back memories of many years ago thanks to a very skilled surgeon DH survived a brain aneurysm,he was very lucky indeed!

I’m still in bed overlooking the Jurassic coast. Its wet and windy but very cosy in our lodge looking at the sea.It seems very busy at home, the ring bell is going all the time and our furniture is being stored today, definitely better to be here.
Have a good day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 19-Mar-24 09:07:34

Morning all, back still very sore, I am getting increasingly grumpy and frustrated, I do not like being incapacitated 😡

Will read your posts later 👋

Naughtyneine Tue 19-Mar-24 09:08:43

It's going to take me a while to catch up completely but have just skimmed the last couple of pages..so Grandmarie....may your lovely friend Rest in Peace and Eternal light shine upon her.
Urms...enjoy every special moment with your beloved man.
Yia... We were in Dorset yesterday too....Weymouth and then Chesil Beach..I loved them both.
Jax...I hope your knee is getting better...why does everything take so much longer to heal when we ....shall we say mature!
GrandmaB...I dreaded the bugs I used to pick up from the girls...I caught a meningitis type virus from D2 and ended up with ME for over 2 years. Get well soon.
Soop....I hope there is resolution all round soon re Mr Soop...and your hospital visits too.
Corner...I think I'd have had the bottle rather than just a glass... I'm terrified and claustrophobic...I get panicky if the lift doors don't open immediately. Definitely a strongly worded letter required.
Life here is as they say..,getting there....I had thought the 'rocky roads' of the last 5 years had evened out a bit but we both had a hill to climb and it felt very lonely for both of us but as DOH always says ...we lock on and drive' ( rugby fan as you can tell) and we did and we have nearly got to the bottom of the other side of the hill. I have great faith but couldn't really understand what part of God's plan we were going through but as always it was in the end a better way forward for DOH. Bullying and Belittlement and more in the workplace to the extent that a person's mental health is so badly affected that they can't even talk to those they love and act so uncharacteristically is crippling as it was for DOH( Mind you there were times he was only OH and not DOH 🤣). It reached a level that for a month he went to work each day and came home each evening....but he didn't...he had been signed off work but didn't know how to tell me ( felt he was letting me down). I'm ashamed that my initial reaction was anger.....( not that he was unwell...but after all we had been through and the support I had given him that he couldn't have told me). I know now from talking to male friends that it is a 'male ' thing... embarrassment...feeling of failure etc etc etc. All I could feel was hurt...and then the Welsh Dragon rose up and came out of her cave roaring...and then the you know what really did hit the fan and I fought to get my man back on track and well... 8 weeks on...Very Very Senior management who had no idea what was going on and were appalled when they discovered what he had gone through due to their negligence and recognised that the fault lay purely on their side... offered all sorts in order to get DOH to withdraw his resignation but he has declined. He has been snapped up by another company who are delighted that he is going to bring over 35 years of experience to them. Yes for now the salary is less but it's about so much more than that in the end isn't it. I have my kind caring happy soul mate back.
Whilst all this was going on.....the broken tooth I'd been ignoring ignoring since last June finally eroded and the pulp exposed and the pain was excruciating for 3 weeks until it was finally removed ( lots of valium)..so coupled with the usual back/hip problem I was on strong painkillers for weeks. Needless to say once the worst was over...it all caught up with me and I' was very low ( and scared that I was going to have a repeat of 8 years ago when life caught up with me after years of trying to help my ex get through his problems ( felt a bit like deja vu to be honest) and the doctor said my mind and body just couldn't take any more). It took me a year to finally get better as I didn't want to go on medication ( I made the doctor laugh as I told him I was managing it organically with bananas and chocolate!!!). I think recognising what was happening this time...and not being on my own meant I have got a grip on it and feel much better.
I know you would all have been so supportive but I just had so much trouble accepting what was happening and hurting mentally and physically I couldn't bring myself to write it down...with hindsight...it might have been better that I had....
I still prayed for you all as I always do.

Urmstongran Tue 19-Mar-24 09:15:35

Remember, you keep hoping and I'll keep praying

I love this Granmarie and thank you for it.
x

Just FacedTimed Himself and all’s good there which gives me a happy start to my day out here.

cornergran Tue 19-Mar-24 10:38:11

Good morning from moving central. The carpet fitting had its moments, thank goodness the company are family run and employ kind, helpful fitters who worked through each issue with a smile and more patience than I had! No doors as they need adjusting and our carpenter is busy, no matter, we’re not expecting guests. The putting back process has begun. Two hour spurts with a (long) sit down in between will do it - eventually grin.

Neine I’m so sorry, now doesn’t that sound inadequate. You’ve both been challenged more than is reasonable. Don’t feel bad about being cross, I’d have had the same reaction to being shut out in that way. A much better future on the horizon.

Understand that feeling grannyg. Horribly debilitating. Hang on in there. I think you’ve seen a physio? Sadly it can take time.

That sounds better blossoming. I’m so relieved for you both.

Enjoy those views yia. Just a bit of envy here smile.

Pleased to hear all is good so far urms. A fun afternoon ahead for you.

Hope the soops are OK. Apologies, my memory doesn’t hold everyone’s news and I feel bad for missing folk out.

It’s brightening up outside. Blue sky appearing. Oh well, must get back to moving ‘stuff’. I will not be grumpy about staying inside, well not much grin.

annsixty Tue 19-Mar-24 11:03:21

Just lost a long post and Sainsbury’s due so will just send a hug to everyone needing one today.

Lovely photo!

Grannmarie Tue 19-Mar-24 14:00:03

Great photo of great pals, thank you Baggs. Enjoy your catch up. I hope all goes well for the Soops.
Thanks for the hug, much appreciated, annsixty, sorry you lost your post, its so annoying when that happens.
Well done, Cornergran, it'll be so nice when it's all finished.
Enjoy the sunshine ☀ Urms, please bring some back, it's been pretty scarce here.
Neine, thank you for your prayers 🙏. I'm so sorry to hear what you and your DOH have been through, hoping and praying that things continue to improve for you both.
Grannygravy, I'm sorry you're still in pain, hoping your massage/physio helps soon.
Thank you, YiaYia, your DH was indeed a very lucky man. Enjoy your break, its great that you can still monitor the comings and goings at home via your ring doorbell app. The wonders of modern technology!
Ladyleftfieldlover, that sounds like a very interesting book. Reading in bed is one of life's great pleasures!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday. TOYA

Naughtyneine Tue 19-Mar-24 14:03:51

Urms... I've just gone further back and seen that you are travelling solo for now. What a lovely thing for himself to arrange for you. I hope the sun and being in your happy place is restorative for you in every way.
Soop and Baggs.... Such a lovely picture of two gentle souls.

brook2704 Tue 19-Mar-24 14:37:21

Lovely picture of you both soop and baggs ❤️

Blossoming Tue 19-Mar-24 19:20:40

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Once again, thank you so much for all your kind wishes and support over the last couple of weeks. I have been beside myself with worry, he was so ill on the day he collapsed and I had to force him to contact the GP. He is still having dizzy spells so fingers crossed the drugs help. The ultrasound scan will show if there is a problem with the blood vessels in his neck, and if so then there are treatment options.

Those kittens look gorgeous SueD, little bundles of mischief no doubt!

Grannmarie what an awful shock for you and your friend’s family.

I hope the Soops are doing well, thanks for sharing that lovely picture Baggs.

Dearest Neine I am sorry you and DOH have had yet more challenges to face, and am glad you can now face them together.

I will try and keep up now, I just haven’t had the mental energy lately.

Jaxjacky Tue 19-Mar-24 19:27:49

Can we have some sun please, dull, grey days, drizzling this afternoon, tedious.
Crumbs neine you’ve been through a torturous time, I’m pleased it’s behind you.
I hope Urms has had the best day meeting up with her ladies for lunch, they will have had a lovely slurp together in the sun.
I have fingers crossed your back has improved somewhat GG13.
Well quiz was fun, so great to see people again who were most solicitous, my presence didn’t improve our result though!
Great picture Baggs you blend together.

brook2704 Tue 19-Mar-24 19:44:51

Good to hear from you neine but sorry to hear of all your struggles, sending ❤️
You too Blossoming, what a worrying time for you, I hope things get a lot better from now on
We’ve had a bit of sunshine Jax but not very warm, I too wish the weather would improve - hopefully soon!
I’ve been pampered at the hairdressers all afternoon and my hair feels and looks a lot better now. I also enjoyed a coffee and chat with my pal whilst we put the world to rights
Have a lovely evening all x

SueDonim Tue 19-Mar-24 21:28:33

Oh Neine you’ve truly been through the mill and spat out at the other end. You poor thing. flowers I sincerely hope that the only way is up, now, even if you have to take it slowly. Xxx

That’s such a special photo of dear Soop and lovely Baggs ❤️
flowers Some flowers to bring serenity, Blossoming as you wait for more news of MrB.
Glad you enjoyed the quiz, Jax!
Ditto to you and Brook re the weather. It was supposed to be a nice day today. In the end, although it wasn’t horrible it didn’t come up to expectations, with much more cloud than forecast.

It stayed dry which is something as I have a chap coating the fencing with preservative. He’s about 3/4 the way through and hopes to finish tomorrow, although guess what, rain is forecast. There’s also someone coming from insurance to have yet another look at the house tomorrow. I think I’ll start charging an entrance fee like the National Trust.

I did lots of household admin today, which meant much waiting on the end of a phone, but I got it all done in the end. Also had to shop for food to keep us alive! GD is coming for her tea tomorrow so I have ingredients for a chicken casserole, too. It can go in the slow cooker in the morning.

I slept badly last night so am hoping for better tonight. Sleep well, everyone. Xxx

Naughtyneine Wed 20-Mar-24 08:30:42

An early pop in..I forgot to thank the lovely ladies who pm'd me..even some from people who don't post often.....it is humbling to know that what would deem to the outside world to be complete strangers care about you.....but that's the secret of this kitchen isn't it In reality we will probably never get to meet one another but the love and care and support reach out like tentacles and wrap around us when we need it most. I won't ever forget....x
