Loving sympathy to SueD and her family as they face a future they didn’t choose.

I’ve got pleurisy now. 😥
Sooo painful on Thursday I took myself off to see the doctor.
Strong painkillers/anti inflammatory tablets are doing the trick thankfully.
No alcohol allowed.
But as I’ve got anosmia too there’s no point in trying to enjoy a glass of my favourite Whispering Angel rosé.
I wouldn’t have done Dry January if I’d have known I was about to do Dry February….

I understand the absence, thank you for the message soop.
Glorious pictures Yia somewhere I’ve not been to.
Someone is having fun Grandmabatty, I imagine a busy day for you.
A quiet day here, washing, a walk and rugby. Duck in the oven, pancakes and all the bits for Chinese New Year, I’m just about to whack the heat up.

Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Grandmabatty

Dgs1 has organised a tea party and is eating and drinking more because of it. He's here for a sleepover and we are having fun. Ladyleftfieldlover your poached pears sound delicious.

He's a wee smasher, Grandmabatty, having great fun! I'm sure he loves his sleepover and having you to himself for a wee while.
DH and I have just finished a wee cup of tea at the table, (demolishing) enjoying the leftovers from yesterday's High Tea with my friend. We couldn't finish the delicious selection of mini cakes and tablet which followed our main course, so I brought home a takeaway box, enough to satisfy DH's legendary sweet tooth.
Ladyleftfieldlover, I can visualize you in your kitchen, cooking your fabulous food like Gransnet's own Nigella!
Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday, TOYA.

Thinking of SueDonim and family at this desperately sad time.
Baggs, too, and Urms, never far from my thoughts.

Oh soop how sad and hard for the family. Thoughts and prayers with them all. Thank you for letting us know.

soop Sat 10-Feb-24 13:27:21

I have received a private message from dear SueDonim. Her precious son's prognosis is heart breaking. As a result, she will need time to deal with her sadness and concern in private. She isn't leaving the Kitchen. She will continue to visit from time to time.
For SueDonim, boundless love from her many Granspals.

We have had neighbours in for a coffee-time blether. Feeling light-hearted as a result. It's good to chat.

I am also sending special love to our Kitcheners who have worries to deal with.

Scotland versus France rugby match this afternoon. I shall cheer the Scots to a hoped for victory..

It is a sunny, cold day in Kintyre.

Wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful weekend. smile

Just a late check in to say from me to say I’m thinking of all our kitchen pals with troubles and worries, take care all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 09-Feb-24 22:05:17

Hello kitchen people. Yes it is quiet but I’m still thinking of those with heartache.
I had a cleaning and cooking day. I made a new recipe - clotted cream and raspberry ice cream. I made a batch of rich chocolate muffins too. OH was out all day but he asked me to do something with some pears I bought a fortnight ago which were still hard! So tonight I poached them in red wine and mulled wine with sugar and spices. When they were finally tender I boiled the liquid to a syrup. The whole thing was delicious topped with whipped cream. We used to get pears from my grandparent’s orchard. Mum would put them in a brown paper bag to ripen in her old fashioned wooden wardrobe.
Sleep tight.

Grannmarie Fri 09-Feb-24 21:13:18

Goid evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. A very quiet kitchen tonight.

I'm just popping in to say that I'm thinking of you all, especially those worried about their loved ones.

My dear friend from school days is celebrating her 70th birthday this weekend, so today I took her out for High Tea at a lovely hotel on the banks of the Clyde. We did lots of reminiscing, it was so nice to have quiet time together. She doesn't like parties!

I think we have a relatively quiet weekend ahead, after all the excitement of last weekend. I'm continuing a wee bit of clearing out/ decluttering each day. Yesterday I managed to clear and clean two more kitchen cupboards, making room for the slow cooker and air fryer, so my worktops are transformed! Small pleasures!

Wishing everyone the best weekend possible. TOYA, NNGB.
