Another welcoming into Soop's kitchen for those who care to share...

Hello kitchen people. What a beautiful photo Soop!
I have spent the day, so far, finishing off the rectangular Simnel cake I started yesterday, making two dozen stuffing balls and making a pint of bread sauce. We usually have lamb on Easter Sunday but my granddaughter isn’t very fond of it, so we’re having Guinea fowl instead. She calls it special chicken. She and her mum and dad don’t like fruit cake so I’ve made a chocolate cake as well. I’ll ask her to help decorate it on Sunday. I’ve already made the icing so I’ll defrost it nearer the time. She loves helping her dad in the kitchen - her mum doesn’t cook.
OH is out this afternoon, will be home in time for dinner and then out again. I’m usually out on a Tuesday evening too, but not today.

Lovely photo Soop. 'My' Ochil Hills had a covering of snow this morning. They were lovely to see. Both boys are away home. They have both been great today and we've had fun. Dgs2 had a check up with the gp and his ears and surgical incision are fine. He's a bit constipated so the GP gave dsil a prescription for lactulose. I managed to make a slow cooker pot of mince and assorted vegetables. It's still bubbling away. So tonight will be mince and tatties with dough balls or otherwise known as dumplings. I'm going to have a cuppa and a slice of swiss roll then tidy up. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

My iffy back is responding to treatment. I have survived the swimming lessons this term, no more till they return after the Easter Break.

After a weekend of rotten pain,I have just seen my rheumatologist,very lucky to get an appointment so quickly and have been given an injection.Hopefully should feel much better soon.We hope to go to see our son in Derbyshire for Easter so need to be o.k.

Oh dear, I hope you poorlies, ann Yia and GG13 recover swiftly, the weather doesn’t help, rain here from about 12 and is still going.
I’m thinking of Grannmarie too with a difficult day.
So, after the washing this morning, rain stopped play, annoyingly a blood test tomorrow was cancelled, so my cholesterol test will be next week.
llfl MrJ is deprived as I don’t bake, I tell him I’m looking after his health 🤣.

I have felt really poorly for a week now and I am not used to it.
Guilty of feeling sorry for myself when others are going through so much worse, I send my very best wishes to them all.
I seem to have an eye infection now, running all the time ,crusted up in the morning and very sore and red rims, antibiotic eye drops have been added to the medicaments.

I am supposed to be meeting up with my D and GD for a weekend in Oxford the weekend after Easter.
Now just found out one of the rail strikes is on the Friday.

Oh well as they say, I will save a few £’s.

Soop what a lovely photograph. Grandmabatty my mum when she stayed in Clackmannanshire used to stand at her bedroom window just looking at the Ochils. They change so much from season to season. Driving her home from hospital just before she died she said when she saw them “ my beloved Ochils I didn’t think I would see them again”

We're getting ready for my DH's procedure next week. Will have a quiet Easter keeping ourselves to ourselves... just in case. I'm quite anxious but hopefully will give DH a better quality of life and we can plan a few things.

Thank you Jax if only!, unfortunately things are not going to plan, we should have got the bus and train back to Geneva airport this morning but they’ve closed the road here due to an avalanche risk. So we’re stranded here going nowhere until … well I don’t know when. There’s been a lot of snow overnight and it’s still snowing - the picture is the balcony this morning Luckily DS had booked the apartment until Saturday as they’re staying on but I wanted to get home ! Will keep you posted ⛄️⛄️⛄️

I remember the feeling of just wanting to go home well Brook we went to Madrid for 4nights in 2010 and got stuck there for 10nights due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. At least you know where you can stay for the next couple of nights, hope you get home soon.

I have now had an email from the train company offering rebooking or refund.
It isn’t really possible for me to go early as My D can’t go until Friday and I need her for transport as my mobility is very poor and I would be on my own in the hotel which is not ideal.

I wonder if there is something about snow and Easter - especially an early one, like this year.
49 years ago D1 was christened on Easter Sunday, aged just under three weeks (well, the vicar fancied this idea of an Easter christening!) and it was touch and go whether her godmother could make it up to London from near Witney because of the sudden heavy snow!
Fortunately my parents and in-laws had come down from Scotland well in advance.
Happy days!
PS I can think of much worse places to be stuck than Saas-Fee - Geneva airport for one! Wishing you a safe journey home.

Train travel seems so unpredictable now, ann. You must be more than disappointed. Guilt isn’t allowed or indeed reasonable, you can’t help being unwell.

Thank you all for your kind messages- we’ve given up on trying to travel anywhere today, the snow is just too bad. But hopefully we’ll make it to the airport tomorrow 🤞 DS and his partner are being very kind and looking after us well, it’s just that I think they were looking forward to a bit of time to themselves!
