I'm not long home after a busy morning. I went shopping after morning Mass to get organised for Easter, as DH and I are away for a wee break later next week. We'll be ready for it after our dear friend's funeral.🙏

Good morning all.
I am not well, a viral infection I think kindly passed on by my GD’s friend.
However so trivial as we have been devastated by the news that the 6 week old daughter of a close young friend of my S and GS died suddenly on Sunday.
The family are broken.
My S saw them on Tuesday, he said the light had gone from behind the eyes of the young mum, she is still in shock and unbelieving.
Poignant for my S who became a first time GF to a baby girl now 9 weeks old.
We are counting our blessings.

Suedonim my daughter is a phenomenal baker (and cook). I'm sure she would deliver cookies to the kitchen. The one I had last night was stuffed with caramel and biscoff spread and was absolutely delicious. She makes amazing cakes too. The cookies were made to take to her work. They're very lucky.
Urmston well done on your win! Grannmarie it feels odd, doesn't it? It's a year since my friend died and there's not a day goes by when I don't think about her. We messaged each other most days and saw each other every week. Ladyleftfieldlover your stained glass panel is lovely. Cornergran how irritating for you.

The fence chappie wasn’t able to finish the painting job today as it was raining so he’s booked in for next Thu. However, if they have a small slot crop up on a decent day before then, they’ll fit us in. This is a handyman type business and they’re lovely, a real person answers the phone and nothing is too much trouble.

The insurance person came and pronounced the house to be dried out and ready for repair work to commence. Huzzah! I don’t know when that will be but it’s progress.

We did our usual routine of collecting GD from school and taking her to ballet today. She came back to us for her tea this week. After taking her home (and ending up putting her to bed) we stayed and had a chat to dd while her Dh was off playing his regular football. She says he’s too old for it as he always spends Thursday moaning and groaning about his aching bits. 😂

The kittens have been particularly bonkers today. They’ve raced around the house for hours, sending things flying. One of them has eaten/bitten off all but two leaves from my lovely red oxalis plant. 😫 The girl kitten has put on a fair bit of weight this past week so I’m much happier about her eating habits now.

Wow, what a day you’ve had Urms,
We had a lovely lunch out with the U3A. I collected my stained glass thing. I’m quite pleased with it but not sure where to put it.
The WI AGM was a hoot. I read out my report and there was some laughter. The formal bit was fairly quick and then we had a quiz (I was third) and plenty of food and wine. I think it was all slightly raucous by the end😊

If that was beginners luck urms, it was definitely good luck. Keep enjoying, you deserve to.

Frustrations for sure soop. Keep your chin up, you’ll both work through it all.

Steroid injection accomplished today, I was amazed how painless it was, as indeed was the physio wielding the needle.

Irritation here as it seems our usual carpenters are too busy to come and adjust the bedroom doors. They can’t even give us a date. This after assuring us they would do each door as we replaced carpets. Huh. The search for someone else who will do a good job has commenced. We’ve worked out how we can move the doors so they aren’t trip hazards and will be doing that in the morning. Just hope someone will do them - soon.

Oh well bed time now. Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

‘Evening All’.

Well guess what? I went to the quiz and bingo (Brits abroad doesn’t really suit what I usually like to do but the couple who asked me to join them are so lovely and caring and anyway, whatever else was I doing? Nothing).

Upshot is, I won the first full house on the bingo! €100. 😁 Blimey O’Riley! When we left the bar at 6pm I suggested the bingo win became our kitty. My friends tried to protest but I was having none of it! It was only thanks to them I even had it, so we got a taxi to a nice restaurant that they’d never been to before (they loved it!) and the winnings paid for a plate of food each and a drink, even enough left for the taxi back home. Yay!

And I rang Himself who is well and had a busy day. He got a bus to the Trafford Centre, got what he wanted then came home to make a huge pan of chilli.

I’m off to bed now (an hour ahead) after another wonderful day with nice folk.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. A quiet sort of day here, out first thing to Lidl for the weekly shop, a walk around the Marina in the sun and a lazy afternoon. The spring sunshine was pleasant but there was a chilly breeze too.

Good to hear from you Soop, hope Mr Soop isn’t left waiting much longer for his treatment. That’s a very big clot in your leg, just another buggeration amongst many. Growing older is definitely not for the faint hearted!

A busy day here today, I enjoyed lunch with DD2 and we picked up DGD from school. Over to theirs for a bite to eat and then back home here with DGD for her sleepover. Tomorrow it’s the school run and then down to Edinburgh for our flight on Friday. Thank you grandmabatty and Jax for your kind wishes. DS wants us to bring Ibuprofen, lemsips, Savlon and teabags! I think they’re a lot cheaper here 🤣

Dear Soop, I'm glad you andBaggs had an enjoyable time. I'm sad that you and Mr Soop have such health worries though. Neine I'm sorry to hear about your dh's woes too. Nannytopsy I hope you had a nice afternoon blethering.
Today I did all the necessary housework this morning and had a restful afternoon. Dd just popped in on her way home to give me a lovely cookie from a batch which she made yesterday. I may have hinted when I dropped off the boys yesterday. Chicken curry for dinner followed by the cookie. Brook safe journey to Switzerland tomorrow.

Gosh soop, they certainly want you to see the countryside!

Spending time with our Baggs was the tonic we both needed. We shed a tear, hugged and laughed a lot. Whenever we are together, we bring out the silly side in each other. Fab fun.

Mr Soop is still waiting for his "urgent" referral. I shall feel a whole lot less stressed when he begins his treatment.

I saw the oncologist and need to keep taking the meds for a further three years. We need to return for the mammogram as radiology was closed . A long way to go for a chat!

GP has 'phoned regarding the blood clot. The surgery has been without computer access for a wee while. The clot is 10cm long and originates behind my knee up towards the thigh. GP is writing to the oncologist to ask for another scan to be done at the Vale of Leven (where we were yesterday.) Talk about the scenic route! In the meantime, I continue with blood thinning meds.

Let joy be unconfined.

I hope to catch up sometime, soonish. Please bear with me in the meantime.

Hope that things continue to improve Neine and your DOH can recover his confidence.
