What would you like on your headstone?

All I want is “ She Dud Her Best”

Sounds a bit selfish but I do try to help my family, friends and dogs who will die in shelters if we ignore them.

And typically I made a spelling error!

No headstone for me. My only memorial will be in the memories of those who survive me and remember me, especially my grandchildren.

Same here.
Unless, of course, those who survive me decide differently, but I don't think they will once they know that I don't want to be buried.

None for me ,though I saw on a seat in a Church yard"She was the wind beneath our wings",I thought it very poignant.

I think Spike Milligan nailed it with ‘told you I was ill’. Don’t think anyone will top that !!

To be honest, I won't have a headstone, I will be cremated and my ashes will be scattered in Devon, next to a railway line near the sea along with my late husband's ashes and our two German Shepherd dogs ashes, there will be a dust storm that day. My husband was a rail enthusiast and I liked the sea so he will forever watch the trains go by every day and I will watch the sea come and go. My idea of everlasting peace.

I like that Iam64. It’s the most valuable legacy we can have really. That we were loved by those who knew us best.

I have always enjoyed visiting grave yards from my childhood. I felt so sad for the people who died young. I recall renewing my paternal grand dad’s grave and more recently I found my maternal grand dad’s grave in Anfields huge cemetery in Liverpool. So anonymous and now not one of the family lives in UK. People doing family history are generally interested in graves of their family.

Most of my life has been anything but.

Though not religious I love the quietness of an old churchyard. I often sit quietly on a bench it’s very peaceful.

I would rather like a bench with a view of the sea or countryside perhaps.
As for what is put on the stone or the bench would leave that up to my family.
On that note this is something which hasn’t been mentioned so perhaps now it’s time it was.
