Good Morning Monday 5th February 2024

Good morning from a bright but very blustery Eden. I daren't put the washing out it would end up down the street.
I planned to sort a wardrobe of summer clothes out,took one look and came out again. The room needs to be warmer my excuse.
DH has cleared all next doors leaves from our garden they never need to as we get them all.
We seem to be waiting for so many phone calls from different people I need to do something productive to take my mind off them.
I hope all those who are ill or have ill relations are getting the help they need.x

A dark and dismal East Midlands. Two weeks today since my operation and I feel on the way to recovery. Thank goodness. Thank you for all of your kind words.

Good morning from a brightening West Sussex by the sea. I meant to get going early (for me) as I have a list of small and medium sized tasks to accomplish but, as happens too often I allowed the radio (4) to stay on and became engrossed. I turned off before the item on Woman’s Hour about ‘Grantenatal’ classes for grandparents-to-be - too late for me now! I did listen to the item about forgiveness which was very moving.

Good to hear of weekend fun with families, enjoyable outings and creative activities. Smiled at your Grandmarathon, Rosie’sMaw. No wonder you slept for 12 hours - I’d need a week.

Glad to hear Marydoll sounding a little better. Thinking of Urms and Baggs, as always.

Taichinan, lovely to picture your snowdrops and crocuses - I hope this week’s weather isn’t too hard on them (and you 🙂 ).

A late good morning from a pleasant enough Angus coast. Not the best weather forecast for the week ahead, but we'll see what unfolds.

Today I must go down town to deposit the tai chi money and do a few bits and bobs while I'm in the High Street. It's so sad to see all the closed shops and I do try to shop local. But Mr Amazon and his easy availability has a lot to answer for. The small shops aren't getting the footfall and therefore can't afford to carry the stock so don't get the footfall - and so it goes on. So sad.
I had a wander round the garden when I got home yesterday - I think Wordsworth would have waxed lyrical about the snowdrops! The First Daffodil has now a flower buds so I think is on track for its opening in the second week in March. And there are two little clumps of golden crocuses in bloom. Still a long way to go, but Spring is on its way.

Very late start because of the new cat needing her breakfast far too early so I went back to bed after providing it - a big mistake! Nothing in particular today, though Flower Club this evening will be a practical class so I must find out what I need to take with me. Glad to see Marydoll slightly more up beat and hope her supervision produces good results. Missing Urms though I quite understand why, and will miss Maw too during her Lenten detox.

Today I need to pick up my regular prescription and I will have a quick look around the shops. I need a few bits and bobs.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Nice visit from pianist friend over the weekend, we have a concert to organise. We had a meal at a new venue on Saturday night, a very pretty place, but small plates “flowing” as the menu said. It didn’t flow for me. I’m not keen on bits and pieces arriving ad hoc. Left feeling I had not had a proper meal and won’t be returning.

Bookgroup tonight and looking forward to it, but am feeling very tired, it’s a bother…

Good morning all from a fine and blowy N Bucks.
The penultimate stages of my Grandmarathon (see what I did there?) completed yesterday night and have I slept for 12 hours!
Overnighter in Birmingham, drive to MK station, take the (overcrowded) train to London, lunch at Francomanca’s with the London families, Victorian puppet theatre show in a wonderfully unmodernised Georgian terraced house opposite Great Ormond St hospital, and train home.
Last bit is now to drive up to Salcey Forest to collect Rosie from her holibobs..
I am taking a break for a bit, “warming down” before my Lenten digital detox starting next week. So I may take a peek in especially to check on those who are poorly or with worries and send you all kind thoughts.

Good morning from a sunny, dry but very windy NE.
DS, DIL and I went to a piano recital by Jean-Efflam Bavouzet yesterday afternoon, it was mostly Debussy and Liszt, most enjoyable. GD's first concert and she loved it.
For once the traffic was light and we were home within half an hour of leaving the concert.
We had a simple meal of smoked sausage, chips and several vegetables.
Family left fairly early as preparation was needed for the work/school week.
Quiet day for me with shredding of papers in the study.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we have yet another grey, very windy day. It was shrieking round the house yesterday evening.
A day of nothing energetic yesterday, reading, brain-training and research on the pc. I watched a beautiful, thoughtful program on gorilla conservation in the Congo in the evening.

Today, the usual Monday round of laundry and housework which I like to largely demolish at the beginning of the week, a habit ingrained from childhood I think!

Whilst I'm mostly decluttered, I'd like to have another go at my bookshelves, there must be books on them I'll never want to read again. Might be a job for after lunch...

It sounds like it's Black Monday for himself, Marydoll! I hope his chores aren't too onerous.

Morning from a grey S Hampshire, seems to be the norm lately.
A quiet Sunday with a walk, lovely hearing the birds getting all lively as they build up to nest building. The gammon I cooked for last nights dinner was disappointingly tough, most unusual, I’m not sure it can be rescued.
Voluntary phone today and quiz tonight.
I hope those under the weather improve as the day goes on.

Good morning all and it’s bright but not too chilly here in Essex.

I had a lengthy E mail from my neighbour in Suffolk with all the local news. It’s nice to know what’s going on while we’re away. Hopefully we’ll be up there at the end of the month.

We had a lovely lunch and afternoon with some of the family.
Illness prevented others from coming, so lots of food left over. I always overdo the catering as I would hate not to have enough. Dh and I will live on leftovers for the next couple of days . Lovely!. The little girls made loom band bracelets and necklaces , helped by the older dgd’s. They get on well despite the age differences and they had lots of giggles.

Today I will go with my pal to the U3A monthly meeting to pay annual subscription and book in for a day trip in May. We’ll stay for the speaker who should be interesting as it’s about the Silk merchants in Spitalfields. I went just before Christmas to Dennis Severs House which was so interesting. Liberty recommended this visit and we all enjoyed it.
Some of the speakers are terrible and go on for far too long, but we’ll give this one a go!

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk after the most beautifully coloured skies late yesterday afternoon.

DS cleared up all the fallen branches which had come down in recent storms and chopped them up for logs. They have recently installed a wood burner in their sitting room so he will make use of it. As it is mainly ash,I understand it can be burnt immediately without needing to wait the usual 2 years to season.

I’m meeting an old work friend for coffee later. She lives only a few miles away and we have been saying in our Christmas cards post pandemic….”We must meet up next year!” Well this year we are doing so. We both grabbed the nettle in January and arranged today so I’m looking forward to that.

God morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very windy but mild.
A friend and I did a recce walk yesterday bur it will have to be left for a good while to dry out before we can introduce it in the walking group schedule.
Today the village walk will just be on local roads. It’s not ideal but elsewhere it’s much too muddy.
Nothing much else happening here today so the usual puzzles, knitting and reading.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

What a great medical team you have Mick. Nothing like that here, I just have to wait and see when my appointments are and cancel if unsuitable. It must save a lot of wasted appointments.

No exciting plans for today. Unfortunately DH has cancelled the golf, so no empty for me. I shall give him a list of chores, 😉 much has been neglected, since I have been in bed unwell.
I was in the middle of decluttering, when I became unwell and am keen to get started again.

Good morning from my daughter's house in Kent.
Saturday evening we enjoyed Beauty and the Beast performed by my granddaughter's senior school.
Yesterday we took youngest granddaughter to the park. We had a great time feeding all the ducks, geese and birds. She met a school friend in the playground and had a great time.
DD2 is taking the girls to school at the moment, then we are going to the local tip to get rid of a load of rubbish. Later we are going shopping in Bromley and probably having lunch.
I will be going home tomorrow, I hope the trains behave.

I appear to have a cold, judging by the sneezing and nose wiping. Coffee this morning with a friend, a bit of shopping and I must get a newspaper, so I can wrap up breakables to donate, then more cleaning and decluttering. I’d like to finish the dining room today.

I've washed one of DH's winter jackets and it's ready to go on the line as the weather is ideal for drying.
This and that today with chicken pasta bake for tea.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is very mild. I had visits from both my offspring yesterday; DS called in for a quick cup of coffee on his way home from an overnight stay with his cousin, then DD and the menfolk came over for a roast chicken dinner later. GS prepped all the veg for me. I have shown him the quick way to top and tail green beans but he still does them one at a time🙄! After they’d gone home last night I suddenly felt very tired. Nothing much planned today other than giving the kitchen cabinets a wipe down, and a stroll if it stays dry.

Good morning from Malta where our unseasonably warm weather continues. A high of 18°C is forecast.

I’m happy to be back with my two little treasures today after the weekend.

Slept in my own room last night after two weeks of camping in the spare room due to decorating. It felt strange!

More sorting and chucking out to be done when I get home later but for now these two will keep me busy.
